What's with the comments such as "experienced only", "know what to do", "don't suck"?? Were you that experienced in D2's Raid right from the start? Didn't you suck as well? Perfect from the get go? Wow. This exact mentality has migrated from D1 to D2. Hang on, in D1 you had an EXTRA request: "If you don't have a Gjallerhorn, don't bother".
It seems there is a constant maneuver from the "elitists" to distance themselves from the "noobs" who still have to find a group to GAIN EXPERIENCE by raiding regularly. Personally I find these prerequisites offensive. Bungie changed the game to enhance team effort. To be helpful to one another. But, looking at these comments in the raiding channel, they should not have bothered.
I have a dream that one day I will find a nice group of adults who will invite inexperienced raiders to join them and finish a raid with their help. I know these nice people are out there, I'll just have to find them!
I'm adding this part to my initial post to address the aggressive response from some players:
Not everyone bought the game the day it was released and played it excessively (I know of players who could not afford to buy it till a certain date). I'm an experienced D1 raider, but waited a bit before buying D2 due to a lot of criticism for this game
Not all inexperienced raiders are as bad as some of you seem to think they are. Not all inexperienced raiders go in blindly without researching what to expect of the raid. That is an unfair generalization
Before lashing out, try and remember how inexperienced you yourself were, the mistakes you made, and how fortunate you were having patient teammates that had to repeat a section of the raid because of your screw up. You might still make a mistake from time to time, but you now have an established raid team that forgives you for that
My original post was in reaction to the experienced D2 raiders who want to raid but their raid buddies are not online, so they post on this website with these prerequisites. If you want to do a quick raid, just say that. Most players will understand that a quick raid means experience to accomplish that. But stating "don't suck" will always get a reaction from me. I've seen way too many "experienced" players who think themselves invincible with their Sins of the Past just to get killed. Be nice, and you'll get help when YOU need it. And you will need it at some point.

1 ReplyEdited by KriegTh3Psycho: 4/19/2018 3:16:15 AMI understand the frustration. I just came back to the game six weeks ago and wanted to raid. It was hard to even find a team for normal mode. But I made a new post accepting everyone (as I also had no exp) and we learned together. After 3 normal clears I started doing prestiges (and it was another struggle getting through the learning phase). I remember finally getting my first prestige clear after getting stuck on Calus several times. I was thrilled when he finally went down....17 Prestige clears later I have some perspective on this. I personally spent time today helping a team of prestige newbies beat Prestige Calus for the first time (I had already done all my clears for the week). It actually felt great to make some other people happy and help them become better raiders. However, I don't always have time to do this and I don't always feel like teaching. Sometimes I just want to have some clean runs. Understand that most experienced players went through the same frustration newer raiders are having. It also made me a better raider. I'm usually one of the best players on any raid team I'm on. That said, I never ask for more than 5 completions and often will accept just 1. I do think people asking for 15-20 clears are being a bit silly. There isn't much difference between someone who has 5 clears and someone with 15 or more.

'Elitist' No, its players that want to get it and get done quick without having to deal with anchors who have no idea what they are doing. Its called a Loot party or a Farm party in MMO terms. You are required to know the fights/encounters to the point where you can consistently not screw up. This isn't 'Elitism' its raiding culture in every game. Once you get your first clear from hard work knowing the fight then you can join the groups that are farm groups. People like you are probably the ones that I try to help with clear parties then play as if you never touched or even looked at the encounter in the first place. Those parties are called LEARNING PARTIES.

1 ReplySome others have said about the same thing, but let me clarify as someone who has experience in the raids but not enough just yet to break through the "Must have +5 prestige completions" barrier. Yes, it is very annoying when the LFG here is filled up with "Must have experience" posts, but those people have the right to ask for that. I often shy away from taking on more than one newbie simply because it often means that it will take a century-and-a-half to get the damn thing done. As a solution I suggest you do sign up for some of the "must have experience" posts, more often than not they will let you run along anyways. I did the same with a newbie who joined on a prestige run, from the start she noted that she hadn't done the prestige raid yet but did know how to do it. She screwed up a few times at Calus, we moved a few people around to better compensate for potential mistakes and within an hour we had finished the raid. We're not all bad people or elitist. We are just people who like to keep the raid moving, instead of smashing into the same wall (probably Calus) for the next 6 hours and end up abandoning the raid.

1 ReplyCool people are out there, especially for Argos phase 2. Luckily for us inexperienced, people farm phase 2 and are usually good about teaching proper strats/methods for max dps. However research must be done before attempting, guides/walkthrough are easily available, no excuse to go in blind and without the proper weapons. Friend me if on PS4, our clan is going to be running the Lair as much as possible before May 8.

There are plenty of people out there who try to help Noobs. I myself have taken a number of new people through the raid, sometimes 4 at a time. Then there are days where I dont have time and just want tonget it done, so I ask for people with similar experience so it goes quick and smooth. Why does that make someone a bad person for just wanting to get it done some days?

This argument has existed as long as raids have been a thing.... This argument has always boiled down to the following points 1) People are allowed to decide who they want to play with 2) People are not required to do something solely because it would be beneficial for you 3) Just like they are allowed to set requirements for their post you can just make a post yourself with whatever requirements you see fit. Now for the predictable counter argument portion. Q: Did they know everything your first time playing through the raid? A: No, they just played with other players in the same position/ experience range as themselves until they were able to learn/ complete said encounter. Q: How are less experienced players supposed to gain experience? A: By forming groups with other less experienced players just like the experienced players did when they first started out.

I tried upvoting your post but the hatred is too strong. It's still at zero. If there's one thing I've learned from playing this particular franchise it's that it's home to some of the most toxic individuals on the planet. Both the raid and trials community are arrogant, spiteful, egotistic cesspools of filth. You all know who you are. Downvote the post ;). I recommend posting on your console lfg or on any lfg site. Set up your own rules. If you don't do that you'll never get experience or play with likeminded individuals. They're out there but they're too nervous to post cuz of the top dogs oppressing them. I find it ironic that Bungie is trying to make this game super social yet the community chooses to alienate itself. So what's gonna happen if you finish the raid in 15 minutes or complete your trials card in 5 minutes? Are you gonna win a million bucks or something? I could understand if there was an outside reward that was incredible but there is no reward. On top of that, gear in d2 is meaningless. I might be able to understand if the gear was actually worth it but it's not. Let the hatred commence.

I raid with inexperienced players often. Chill adults are out there, just gotta find us.
-
Form your own beginner fireteam and do (or attempt to do) a raid. You'll see why these things are asked for.

I don’t find people who desire experience snobby. It’s mostly people who just don’t want to factor in the extra 1 to possibly 3 hours to teach new people a raid. Putting that on top of the 45-90 minutes it usually takes to do a raid every time starts to add up and some people can’t always or just don’t want to commit that much of their time

What's with the comments such as "experienced only", "know what to do", "don't suck"??
Have you ever been to a job interview, lol? I get that this is just a game, but this is how life is.....
I have a dream that one day I will find a nice group of adults who will invite inexperienced raiders to join them and finish a raid with their help. I know these nice people are out there, I'll just have to find them!
I wish you the best! My clan has been pretty inactive, but has stayed together and has done quite a few Raid carries in D2. Hit us up if you have no other options. Things should pick up with the next DLC.

Hey man if you're on Xbox, add me. I'm up for raids, so just let me know.

1 ReplyTotally agree, myself and others in my clan are happy to help anyone through a raid, we all started the same at some point and the only way to learn is by running it and experiencing it. Its fun helping others as well. 👍🏻

Edited by Swiftlock: 4/16/2018 8:47:30 PMPeople can have whatever standards they want. Nobody has to cater to your needs. Not everyone has the time/patience to guide inexperienced people through the raid, and that is 100% okay. If you hate it so much, be the change you want to see. Make your own group, and make it clear what you're looking for. Or better yet, study the raid via YouTube guides, carefully explain to LFG groups that you know what to do, and SOMEBODY will take you on.
-
Not everyone has the whole day to take newbies on for a full raid. And it can be difficult explaining to some people that don't understand. You can always start your own raid. That's always the best if your looking to do a raid or if the groups don't mind a beginner but you also have to know your part and how to do the raid at least. Watch videos or something if you don't know how to do each encounter.

3 RepliesMe and my team regularly run new people through the raids. We have enough confidence in our ability to pretty easily carry 1-2 new people per run. The runs take maybe an 1-2 hours max. No one wants to take 5 new guys through a raid and be there anywhere between 4-6 hours lol xD
-
3 RepliesNaah. I disagree with your thoughts. Many put in the time when the raid 1st came out. Those that ask for experienced have every right. The raid has been out for what 6 months now? It’s nobody’s fault except yours that you lack the experience this late in the game. Join an active Clan if any still exist or use LFG or Guided Games to find a noob group.
What's with the comments such as "experienced only", "know what to do", "don't suck"?? Were you that experienced in D2's Raid right from the start? Didn't you suck as well?
Allow this raid snob to drop a little information on you. First of all, no, we weren't all perfect or experienced at the start... but that's just it, the start was over 6 months ago an us "snobs" have put in the time and effort to learn the raids and perfect our strats. We spent hours on end putting together teams and working out the best strats and then practicing. Where were you back then when we were learning? Didn't play the game back then or did but just didn't raid back then? How the f'k is that OUR problem? You expect experienced players to sit and walk you through a raid that will slow us down and cause frustration.... why? Because you think you deserve it? My clan is a raiding clan... we raid every night and on those occasions when we are short a player and need to pick someone up, we want experienced players because we are going to run MULTIPLE runs and don't want to be slowed down. Most of us work weekdays and therefore our window to play is a small one. Before you get your panties in a twist over my post (too late?) let me say it isn't all bad news. My clan has also done more than it's share of charity work. We have maxed out guided games in each season and ever after that we continue to participate in guided games as guides when we have the time. Groups go into guided games with the expectation they will have to teach someone so if you want to get guaranteed sherpa help to get going, use guided games as a seeker. I understand the wait time for seekers is LONG but that's NOT our fault, you need to speak to Bungie about perhaps offering better incentives for groups to do guided games. Additionally, guided games is a great way to see if you gel with a group and perhaps get to join a new clan that raids often if that's what you want. My clan has picked up at least 4 members from our guided games. Not everyone is going to be a match to every group but there are those times when the stars align and it's a good fit. I had to laugh at your title "raid snobs be gone"... newsflash, raid snobs are people who actually raid... and raid a lot, we aren't going anywhere. It is really the raid noobs who need to stop feeling entitled to get an invite to every raid they want to. Put in your time like the rest of did because no one owes you anything! If you aren't sure how to "put in your time" then here are some suggestions: 1. Start your own LFG group and state you are a beginner. There are plenty who will join you. 2. Join The 100 ( https://www.the100.io/login ) and post up for a group, there's even a checkbox to ask for sherpas... those games ALWAYS fill fast. In closing, good luck and stop being a whiny little b*tch!

literally no one gives a -blam!- if you think its offensive find people you like to play with and play with them you cant force people to play with you especially because youre trash
-
sorry for not wanting to spend 7+ hours on each encounter trying to teach while the noob just ignores the fire teams and leroy fu cking jenckens around cuasing us to to lose most of our rez tokens. would you like anything else ma lord? (have you ever heard of starting your own lfg)

I get the complaints, bro. Here's what people are getting at with those comments (it's implied, so if you don't get that at the onset, I can understand where you're coming from): "experienced only", "know what to do", and "don't suck" are usually the tags people use when they're looking to bang out a raid quickly. Personally speaking, I use those tags when I'm running cleanup raids the day before reset, simply because I'm wanting to get it done and my clan mates are elsewhere (working, dinner-ing, etc.-ing). The clan that I'm a part of is really good about taking newbies at the beginning of the week and getting them through it for the first time (or knocking the rust off), but as the week progresses, I just want to bang it out, you know? Those are my thoughts on it. I hear your frustration though. Good luck.
-
1 ReplyI can see where you are coming from. I also understand that more experienced players want to find others that already know what they are doing and won't waste time. On another note. If you farm the end game bosses for numbers on your emblem, that's fine, but please drop the elitist attitude.
-
Edited by puppyk1sses: 4/16/2018 6:59:41 PMYou’re right. There is a huge effort from the experience raiders to distance themselves from the noobs. My example: I have a wife, kids, a good job, and a social life. What I don’t have is 4-5 hours to maybe beat the raid a single time. Once I get the raid emblem ONE TIME for a given raid, I steer waaaay waaaaaay clear of noob groups and I even go as far as to make semi-elitist posts. Why? It’s not because I’m a jerk, it’s because I cannot be sitting in front of my console for multiple hours in one session. Your post is short-sighted and fails to take into account that many players don’t have all day to struggle through a raid with bad groups.
