<So here we are. Months of thought and roughly 2 hours spent doodling my ideas has finally come to an end... and I have this. This being a post on my ideas for the Darkness which is on its way *checks watch nervously* sooner than I realistically thought. [b]Section 1 - Ship Design and Features[/b] https://i.imgur.com/CRfUfi4.jpg First off, design. I based it off of the ships we saw at the end of D2, which were based off of this: https://cdna.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/001/257/788/large/dorje-bellbrook-db-destiny-194.jpg?1443927684 Next, size. Each smaller ship, no matter the class, is about the size of a Hive Warship. The Mothership is bigger than the Dreadnaught, nearly twice the size of. I gave every ship a shit ton of defensive turrets, but each have a laser (or many lasers) that come from its underside. The Mothership has one extra feature... the ability to release "swarm" ships from its docks. I will explain the Swarm later. Each ship I've made Light Absorbant. Basically everytime they get hit with Light, the ship absorbs it and powers itself with it, making it stronger. This will be in contrast with the Darkness itself which I will explain later as well. The ships were made by the "5th race" to protect themselves and the Darkness from the Light, their weakness. Glowing yellow eyes and irradiating Darkness like a flammable object. They come in many shapes and sizes. Most of their attacks are melee based, with only two using ranged attacks. They are incredibly weak to any Light based attacks. They spawn in "Shadow Meteors" or they just teleport in. [b]Section 3 - 5th Race Weapons[/b] https://i.imgur.com/u1njcXJ.jpg I mean... there's not much to explain here. That's all. Just a ton of weapons based off the ones we use. [b]Section 4 - Jovian Introduction and Overview[/b] https://i.imgur.com/8eQa0Qw.jpg So... here we are. The "reveal" of the "5th Race"... in my eyes. So let me give some back story. I've been constantly thinking about the identity of the Darkness and the fleet that surrounds it. I've been trying to figure out what it is and I've some to multiple theories... but one stuck out. A few weeks ago, Reddit user 666lddhunter made a series of posts entailing a shit ton of theories and ideas being related back to religion, culture, math, etc. One particular line stuck out to me. [quote]The other group of humanity that left the sol system first and I believe joined with Sophia; I believe eventually we will get to see them. I believe what they became are in the Tetrahedron ships.[/quote] Without context it seems weird but basically some humans joined the Darkness. Then I started thinking. I'd like to preface this by saying that 666lddhunter's post mentions that group of people leaving ages ago, but mine is a little different. During the Collapse, humanity was stuck in 3 different places. The Inner System, the Outer System, and the Asteroid Belt. Something happened between the Traveler and Darkness that caused transformation to occur. Those in the Belt became the Awoken, between Light and Dark. Those out in the Outer System would be called the Jovians. People heavily transformed by the Darkness. Xur says that Light is a source of pain to him. And we have our basis for the "5th race". It's us. Here we go. A standard Jovian looks just like a normal human, but paler and with glowing yellow eyes. Underneath their skin, similar to the glowy Awoken bits, are strands of Darkness. Also, forgive me, I can't draw people. The next class of Jovian are "Shrouded Jovians". These are beings directly empowered by the Darkness or "hidden" by the Deep. Darkness essentially covers their skin, leaving only their yellow eyes. Strands will sometimes peel off of their bodies and act sort of like tentacles... sound familiar? https://i.imgur.com/g4zVtmr.jpg Also, Shrouded Jovians are much more powerful and are heavily resistant to normal bullets... but Light shreds them. [b]Section 5 - Jovian Classes[/b] https://i.imgur.com/UqUik5t.jpg https://i.imgur.com/gyi0Q7J.jpg So I came up with a view classes. As you can see, a couple are based off of Guardian classes. But I mean, we're all human here so... similar fashion sense. Each class will have different abilities but only 3 of them will use "the Darkness" to their full advantage. That being the "mage", "priest", and "priestess" classes. The concept art above suggests that this may be a very female-oriented society, so I made the Priest a simple religious leader while the Priestess also gets to be a political leader. The latter far more powerful than the former. [b]Section 6 - The Darkness[/b] https://i.imgur.com/2ZRI2Zi.jpg Inside the Jovian Mothership lies a command center the size of a planetoid known as the "Chamber of Darkness". It is the place where the Darkness itself controls the Mothership and releases "Swarm ships" to fight. The Darkness itself is based off of this concept art https://mir-s3-cdn-cf.behance.net/project_modules/fs/da51bb58922683.5a0e1c7f3265a.jpg I made sure to differentiate between the pyramid ships and the awesomeness you see one line above. The Darkness is a large ship, bigger than the Traveler, nearly double the size of. Its outer shell is an ever-shifting, replenishing material that is used to spawn the Swarm Ships, which are Fallen Ketch-sized pyramids that only have one weapon, a laser. The Darkness is weak to Light, hence the need for the Mothership to protect it. In my version, during the Collapse, the Darkness was hit with a powerful Light wave, which left it permanent scars. It left alone, defeated, then the Jovians followed IT out. Under its outer shell is the inner shell, similar to the Traveler. Underneath that... I leave to whoever takes this concept, if anyone. [b]Section 7 - Outro[/b] So, that's that. My mega-concept of the entire fleet we'll be fighting in a couple years.
