No chance they will use a new game engine for D3
That will take 💰💰💰💰💰 to develop and then developers won't have any excuses for creating content

Bungie's in trouble then. D1 was flawed but players stuck it out because they saw potential in it. It was a two steps forward, one step back pattern. Not to mention that some patches to end exploitable cheeses/glitches introduced errors into the game that in some cases never was fully repaired. The loyal players who stayed with D1 just don't feel the same about D2. I may be wrong but I think Bungie is really in trouble with this franchise.

A great way Destiny stays alive and kicking for the next 6 years and the future after that .....allow us to really invest time in a Guardian (make the class choice matter) Integrate D1 into a brand new (powerful and easily adjustable) engine, 4K/HDR/60fps the lot, port over the code for D2 - Bring back ALL of D1 to the servers - (Marauding Wolves with scorch cannons/Urzok types with swords, Cabal/Taken Champions/Siva infestations that need rallies of Guardians to team up - make it a gritty harsh war/world - darker, meaner and in places harrowing/shocking/hugely replayable Surprise the players, even though it feels familiar - it will/should have twists/turns/shocks/story that make us think 'F*ck/Epic/GTFOOH/need to go again' This 'Destiny' would be the base building blocks to restart the IP - £60 should be a fair price - and allow for forwards compatibility when PS5/XBOneX2 hit the shops) Reintroduce daily/weekly story modifiers - change the way a fireteam approached the missions - utilising a Guardians build and skillset increase the AI - make the challenge diverse & tactically surprising (not just bullet sponges) Rework the entirety of D1 and D2 to be Light level, Primary/Special/Heavy, bump the difficulty up, add a digit to level cap (quadruple figures), push D1 Raids to 600/D2 Raids (including newly developed ones) to 750 and fire up dedicated servers, split stars for PvE/PvP (no nerf wars) Bring back real factions/Iron Banner/3v3 Trials/Horde style PvE Console Cross play etc (pipe dream but would be great) Weapon building (who wouldn't want to craft their own weapons through grind) D3 level cap can be 1200 Clans/friend list will be vitally important for players to build Fireteams - as will time and effort - easy to play for casuals, depth and last ability for dedicated players Clan Calls, random lone wolf player SOS Recon modes - tear the invisible walls down - heck even let is get into the water/ explore that sink hole in the TTK trailer, Circular Fortress (the one we see in D2 and never get to near (Io), or the huge areas attached to the Rig on Titan) https://www.metabomb.net/destiny-2/news/concept-art-you-need-to-see And introduce Tier 1 type options for experienced Guardians to be called into the battle .....be aware - not everyone will come back from the fight ....but a team can go back in for your ghost and the loot/rewards/secrets Lost Sectors/Cayde Stash will be incredibly difficult (to both find and complete) - you better bring your A-Game Adventures to be Prestige base, links to open quests, weapon cache searches(again build that weapon) Then D3 can continue in this huge world with DLC's building onwards into the Grimoire/Lore....with a hint that quadruple figure light levels gonna be needed - The Darkness is coming ..... Up the recommended min age limit to 18, add the fear.... Start by hiring talented visionaries, dedicated PvE writers, sack the deadwood (DeeJ/LS etc) - and create a PvP system that's both integrated but separate And forever rid the game of micro transactions! Allow us to 'Be Legend' and actually 'Go There'

Hopefully improvements won't take too long. Improvements to D1 could take months if not years.

Yeah I doubt they would, but it would be nice.
