Yesterday Myelin made a video bringing up some evidence and theories that challenge the commonly accepted idea that the Vex are the radiolaria.
I was wondering if any of you guys had any thoughts on this?

They could be some sort of Bio weapon from some long dead race.

3 RepliesEdited by Winky: 4/11/2018 3:24:08 AMNot a virus, Geologist/chemist checking in! -blam!- myelin Vex are electrically charged amorphus silica that are essentially a living molecule that breaks up and reforms to create electrical energy to further their reactions with foreign molecules. Example: Twinning armor texture (texture literally on the shader) Incorperation of metals to create a silicate/metal armor. They an break down any molecule and manipulate it to their own liking. I went into depth on this in the past

6 Replies<Now... consider this... Ikora says that if the Vex Fluid was really contained in that state (assuming she meant gas, liquid, and solid), it would've... or rather should've... found a way to make other forms. May I refer you to the Vex Fanatic and the Glass Throne. Vex Fanatics in both D1 and D2 have a sort of trail following them. In D1, they had a sort of green "smoke" coming off of them, while they also had a green substance covering their bodies. Now let's write that off as something totally different and move to D2. D2 Fanatics produce Radiolarian Fluid when they explode. We can also assume the white aura around them is Radiolaria. If that's the case, then Radiolaria can exist in 2 states of matter. Also, this one leads into my next point, there's a scannable on Nessus that says this:
There's nothing special about this crystal shard. Well, other than it being buried in a radiolarian vapor cloud that carries the energy readings of six stars. I guess that's pretty special.
Let me present to you another case. The Glass Throne and similar structures found on Nessus. Let me get straight to the point, it's Radiolarian Fluid in a solid form. Now, let me explain. Radiolaria is a thing that exists IRL. The theories have pointed out that the Vex are very likely to be Silica-based lifeforms because of it. Silica glass (AKA Fused Quartz) is made by silica... and only silica (differing it from other glasses). BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! Do you know what else exists? Silicon bronze (has some other ingredients in there but it still exists). One of the leading descriptions of Vex chassis are bronze. The other is brass (but that exists, too). Now think about it. The Vex can be both "born" and "converted". When "born", a group of Radiolaria finds a suitable environment and starts grouping together to form a body combining other materials with their own. When the body is finished, the active Radiolaria crawls its way in to make it move. When converted, a group of Radiolarian Fluid gets in the body somehow. In Asher's case, it was his arm. The Radiolarian cells replicate in the body and begin phasing out other systems and cells. It begins collecting data on the body to add to the Collective. Brain cells, blood cells, your entire body essentially converted into data to use whenever by the Collective. The Collective is the fluid, but it can also be the solid and the gas, as shown by the Vex themselves. However, taking all of this into account. I think I have a theory on how the Vex got to where they were. Think of the Borg. They convert species (not as heavily but they do) and add their knowledge to their collective. The Vex do the same. So, if they converted a species or an individual who knew how to manipulate reality, then the Vex would know and perfect it. That's how. A program that continues to learn and convert and eventually birth life in a sense (i.e. Nessus). Where that program came from... I don't know. Perhaps the last part of a species that wanted to kill the universe. Maybe as a way of revenge. Maybe they were fighting another species. -blam!-, am I now going to have to make a post title "The Possibility that every Theory about the Vex are Correct?" I mean, couldn't I have just stopped at Darkness and Traveler?>

Nah, bet Durandal is behind the vex.

1 ReplyIn the day one grimoire about the Vex it said the traveler created them to terraform planets. No I am not making this up it’s true I read it. But the grimoire was changed maybe two months after the game is released.

2 RepliesEdited by Dayknight: 4/11/2018 11:00:29 AMI saw this interesting stuff. Makes the vex even cooler if you ask me. Myelin has a lore survey on his newest video you should fill it out.

2 RepliesNo they are the cure....

2 RepliesI inspected something in io and ghost said that the vex are really just the glob of jelly inside of the constructs they control. So yes, they are the radiolaria or whatever
-
Perhaps the Vex "disease" is actually an advanced computer virus that "hacks" an organisms DNA. The programming might be carried in the radiolarian fluid.

I feel like this is a theory desperately trying to push out an old one and tripping over itself to do so. Which is especially strange because "The heart of the Vex mind is the Radiolarian Fluid" and "The Radiolarian Fluid is the biological remnants of the Vex" aren't even mutually exclusive. As for "All Vex were once people", yeah, no, doesn't make any sense, there's way too many of them for that to be the only way of producing more Vex.
-
actually there still vex but there systems have been taken over by the disease. I think it comes from the hive/taken magic

a comment or something i saw IN GAME says they are all thats left of a life form. that life form became the vex somehow. ive always wondered if there was some referendum on some vex homeworld and imagine queues of crying aliens who lost the vote, and their kids, waiting to be turned into communal emotion-lacking sludge destined to drive machines.

3 RepliesThe Vex are corrupted offshoots of the Exo prototype that were incompatible with light as a power source, yet relied more on the concept of their original debee model to retain ease of mass production. Though the synthetic imulsion they use as a fuel source can be easily stored, transported, and produced, its volatile nature leaves the Vex vulnerable to ballistic attacks and has corrupted the hearts and minds of Konami.

4 RepliesI know this has nothing to do with this, but can the vex time travel?
