Hello there!
My question to the people of the internet: Why must I purchase this game twice on different platforms? I understand that everyone likes to make more money, but why can't we just transfer the ownership of the game between platforms? I currently own destiny 2 on the xbox ( The base game + expansion + sword and emblem ). A few months ago I decided to buy a pretty decent gaming oriented computer. I am a highschool sophmore currently without a good flow of money. I can't shell out $90 just to own a game that I already have ( and beaten on three charecters + 5 flawless + Multiple raid completions ). My suggestion is to offer a way to transfer ownership of the game title between different platforms. It dosn't need to maintain progress ( I can see where that would be hard from a coding perspective ), you could even charge $20 or $30 based on what version they own / how many times they have transfered in the past. This would allow more players to connect to the game if, like me, they have changed platforms.
Does this sound like a good idea?
Thanks,
-Cupcake

A large reason why they don't is because it cost more to do that. One way they could combat this and make both players and stockholders happy is to do a subscription like everyone else for guaranteed revenue. The main reason most companies never did this is because its hard to get people to buy subscriptions aka dedicate a set amount of money on a product each month. Personally, Id love this if say you pay $20 month but get all Bungie games and content. then you run into the same issue as streaming services where you have 3 subscriptions.

I understand exactly what you mean. I love all the nasty comments. Hahha. It's all preference. I did the same thing and that's actually what brought me here. I bought a really nice PC rig and I wanted to check it out on PC because I heard a lot of great things on how it plays. So I was hoping it was cross-platform or at least your character and weapons would carry over. Kind of like what Epic does with Fortnite. I can see buying the base game again for a discounted price, but do a full purchase of everything, I do think that is a little greedy. I mean your D1 character crossed over so it's not that hard. I understand what you mean.

Er.... why are you even thinking of buying the game twice?!! This is beyond lunacy.

3 RepliesWhen I went to the store I told the cashier I didn't have to pay for the harry potter movie collection because I already bought the books. But the cashier just looked at me and muttered (dumbass).

1 ReplyI see a better way to make this work. bungie creates 1 account that spans PC, Xbox, and PS. You Purchase Destiny via Bungie account. You can choose which platform to have that game active on(1 at a time). You want to play on Xbox, activate it on xbox. Want to play on PC activate it on PC and so on

I purchased GTA V on XBox 360. Then I bought an XBOne. When they released GTV V for XBOne, guess what? I had to buy it again. A lot of people purchased Destiny 1 for 360 or PS3. When they bought a next-gen console and wanted to keep playing D1, they had to buy the game again. What makes you so special?

Not a good idea overall. However, since bungie is another party, it would make sense to be able to have 1 account on multiple platforms if you buy the game. This would only be tricky if using ps4 and another due to exclusivity, but they could simply lock those weapons from use when on another platform. I can get the account deal but not the game deal

17 RepliesEdited by TuxyDoh: 4/7/2018 7:45:49 PMIt is how it goes, you pick a platform and buy it, want to change, buy it again most games have been this way forever. You paid MS for their license, they are not going to pay blizzard or sony to allow you to play there.

4 RepliesSo, you had enough money to buy a gaming pc, but can't afford games? I was young and dumb at one time also. Now I'm old. The other part might not have changed. :)

Yes, you will need to purchase the game for pc if you wish to play it on pc.

2 Repliesyou bought a service for xbox, you got your money worth for the service on xbox. now you want the same service on PC, that costed them time and money to make...yet want it for free?..

1 ReplyWhat strip?X box and PC is almost the same thing.Install Windows 10 and play games from your x box.

1 Replyyou need to find a way to really identify one person as one person and do it consistently without loop holes to get games for free. It isn't really an easy problem to solve. Xbox Play anywhere solves it by using your xbox account on both PC and Xbox and it is ensured to be unique in their ecosystem. People that don't have the infrastructure like that could use account linking perhaps? but they need to get around the red tape of profit sharing between the platform that hosts the game... for example. If I buy a game on PC... should I get it for free on PS4? how is Sony and their platform compensated? They would also need to deal with the possibility of unlinking... should it be allowed? if it is handling ownership of content one could argue the link may have to be permanent. I link my microsoft to blizzard account and maybe I can never unlink it since purchase information is shared. Letting me unlink could get exploitative quickly. I think it IS a good idea... it's just not simple.
