Are we using the same canon guardian from destiny 1?

It bugs me that in story mode, you get reminded of obvious stuff from destiny 1. Ex.1) When Ikora explains to the guardian about who the are The Taken. Ex.2) I don’t know which Vanguard (I think Ikora too) explain to the guardian that Oryx is dead. And some other examples that I don’t remember. It is like if Master Chief gets explained about what he has done in previous halos, duh.

  • If you played all of D1 on the same account, from the beginning of the campaign through the Wrath of the Machine Raid. You get what’s called Legacy dialogue. Which is when the people around you actually talk to you like they know you and knew all about you from the past and what you’ve done.

  • If your system has a d1 account you get different prompts. If you’re on pc that’s impossible.

  • I played the game on XB1 (D1 and D2) and imported my characters to D2. When you did the import you got these splash screens of things you did in D1 and whom you did them with. It was actually pretty cool. (I've heard that they don't do this any longer, but they did in back last September). But still there are points in the game where the folks you run into, and knew from D1, treat you like a new guardian with no history. There have been several posts here from folks upset about that. There is a lack of continuity from D1 to D2 that bugs people, including me somewhat I'll admit. (Think maybe like how your character carried over in Mass Effect for example. That is how it should have been IMO.) Now, recently, I started the game on PC. (Because it was on sale, and I really wanted to see it on my PC. BTW it's really nice on PC). Obviously you could not import a character. I noticed there are several minor dialog changes, like the explanation of the Taken you mentioned. There is also a complete lack of reference to Eris. Those references exist in the imported character game play. There are some other things you pick up on, especially if you go thru all three guardians. If you played D2 on XB1 and imported your characters you would pick up on those changes.

    • They should have just added a prologue or a codex that explains the events in D1

    • It depends, if you play as one of your impoerted characters, yes it’s still the d1 guardian, but there’s different(veteran) dialogue, instead of enemy explanations from what i recall. Otherwise, it’s just a random new guardian.
