Bungie Once Again Is Going To Take Feedback From The Streamers and Content Creators Over The Common Player

There is a Destiny 2 Summit April 19-20 at Bungie. Bungie has invited a few of the top names in the Destiny community, some who don't even play the game much or have moved on completely. Rather than continuing to listen to the ones who play the game daily/weekly, Bungie's summit is going to include names that don't even play anymore. Once again, if you're not a streamer or content creator, Bungie places you low on the totem pole.

  • This is good bc if the streamers are hypocritical and give Bungie nothing but praise after making all those video about how much this game is pathetic then we will see how full of poop these streamers are just to get some views If nothing changes then we stop funding/watching these streamers bc it was on them to fix the game and they didn’t. They will have let the community down as well. The pressure is on.

Agreed. Smh they are inviting the same people that overhyped the game then trashed it.....maybe because they can flip them back, and the content creators can flip their followers.

    • I’m in a position at my job where I’m frequently forming focus groups. I don’t look for common schlubs and I have to ignore mob mentality. I choose the people who are best suited to give feedback that is representative of the whole, and not complete shit. It’s my job to set expectations and tell them that their personal opinions are valuable, but they need to think about the overall health of the project and the people they’re representing. So, if I were Bungie would I pick lethalviper and kellygreen to come to my summit? Nope. They’re first rate at getting discussions started here on bnet, but they carry no real weight in the community. I would pick the content creators that can represent hundreds of thousands of their fans to tell us what gamers want. If Bungie does their job, they’ll be able to pick through bias and easily sniff out any youtubers who are only there to push their own agenda. Trust me, that’s the easiest part of this sort of thing. I personally think there’s nothing wrong with this idea. I don’t have faith that Bungie can take ideas and fully implement change that works. To me, that’s the biggest issue. They’ll hear “bring back random rolls” and they’ll nerf the shit out of perks, put them in mods, and let players swap out just one useless perk for other useless perks. Nobody will be happy except the people who come on here and say “oh my god it’s exactly what you all wanted. Omg Bungie just can’t win with this fickle community.”

      • If they flew random people out, they wouldn’t have a big enough audience to relay the information back to us.

They should look at their game data, top ten total hours played pve and pvp. Invite those people, streamers or not. As a side show they should have lethalviper vs Kellygreen debate

        • I am a common player, and I take much of my feedback to be represented by a streamer that is still involved in the game and invited to the summit (TrueVangaurd), but I can see how this might be frustrating if you have radically divergent opinions to the content creators.

        • Ok, let me simplify it a bit...... a couple hundred randoms who wouldn’t fit in the studio or several well known streamers that will go back and re vlog everything for hundreds of thousands or millions.

Sadly other game devs do this as well. I was really pissed when DICE would listen to the crying idiot LevelCap. All that moron did was whine about how everything was overpowered in Battlefield 3 & 4. Devs need to stop listening to these twits and focus on making the game they want to make and go from there. Just my opinion.

        • The people who still play are new players or just don't care what happens. The people who have stopped playing Destiny 2 are the ones they need to bring back. Destiny 2 needs to go back to more of an RPG shooter hybrid.

Better off just quitting the franchise I have l haven't played since January and i don't plan on returning the games not for me anyway It's not for the solo player and probably never will be. Only thing that annoys me is I can't even sell the game as it's worthless and I'll only get a fraction back of what I payed so I'm stuck with the dusty old thing.

          • I have mixed feeling towards this. On one hand, I like the idea of Bungie inviting players to their head quarters and getting feedback directly from them while they are working on these future changes, that way they can see what works and what doesn’t ( I believe that Bungie is too close to Destiny 2 to see it objectively so they need outside eyes to scrutinize their work in progress ). On the other hand, Streamers and Content creators don’t play the game the way most of the playerbase do. Instead of making a better Destiny 2 for everyone, we will get a Destiny 2 made specifically for Streamers. I also fear that most of the feedback will be heavily PVP biased to the point where it hurts PVE.

          • Common people are the reason this game sucks. I hate streamers and pvp but -blam!- it. If it gets it back to where it was so be it. Screw the common man

          • Agreed, the same players who asked for less supers in PVP, for less 1 hit kill weapons, more primary engagements. So I guess destiny 3 will have 3 primary weapons. . .

            • Honestly this is good. These streamers were/are the cream of the crop at playing D1 and truly understand the ins and outs of the game and know what D2 needs to succeed. Better to listen to them then some 12 year old ranting on the forums about how The Colony killed him.

              • This surprises you? Who did you expect they invite...random people from the wonderful forums? Really. Let’s be reasonable. Streamers / you tubers are the people that will always be invited because they are known, popular and are aware of the opinion of their followers/subscribers. They are in the best position to share feedback with Bungie, not random Joe who’s only representing them self.

              • Here's your issue. Do they just invite everyone to take part in this summit? Simple answer, not realistic. There is no way they can sit down with thousands of people and talk about the game, and what to do. So what do you do in its place? You invite a few folks you know play, and also have a following of other players. The idea is that if they have such a huge following, they have an idea of what their followers want, and if a lot of people didn't like them, they wouldn't follow them. Bungie as well as most developers have invited these people to their studio for various reasons. It makes sense. Sure I would like to be invited. Though I actually understand why I'm not. I don't have followers, and I can't say I'm representing my community.

They can’t listen to the community at large..there’s too many conflicting opinions. They chose streamers because they represent the community. Many that don’t create videos currently don’t because there’s nothing to talk about. Rest assured, if there was something to talk about they’d be streaming and making videos regularly. Also, many of them still play D2, they just don’t stream it since the community is so toxic about anything D2 right now. Also...many of these people have family and lives, and would not be accepting an offer to travel to a company they don’t care to continue with.

                • All they're doing is pulling in a lot of streamers to discuss with them what they want in a petty attempt to promote the game through twitch marketing. They don't care about making a good game, they care about having an average game that lots of people are drawn to by clever marketing. If they cared about content, they wouldn't bring in streamers, they'd bring in skilled players. Some streamers are skilled, some are not. In fact, most just play PvP and have 0 credible input into the PvE world. I couldn't give two shits about how well PvP plays or how to make it more e-sport friendly. Most people that play this game want PvE. Layers of tiered PvE content and strikes and raids and rewards, with a viable economy and progression system that matters. These idiots that work at Bungie can't figure out how to copy the basics of the industry set 15 years ago, and it's because they are unskilled non-gamers tasked with completing a job to produce the minimum. That isn't changing. Ever.

                  • Just crazy that it is that hard. I’m a average player with a couple thousand hours in d1 and far less in d2 but I could give them feedback in 30 mins that would get the franchise back on track. Most avg to above avg players could tell you in mins what needs to be done it’s really not that hard to see if you have been playing this franchise. There will always be unhappy players but complaining about not getting a light level or op gun is better than losing your whole player base because you scaled down every part of the game to cater to a casual customer that wasn’t already playing

Don't you see it? There inviting content creators so more people will see and buy their game. Bungie get's more people watching their game and the creators aka bums get more subs. It's just a colab for them to make a few bucks. It's just a marketing technique. Don't get hyped up guys. You know you'll only be disappointed. Someone prove me wrong.
