I know at this point everybody is probably way past the point of caring anymore, but I decided to pick Destiny 2 back up because of their "big update". They claimed to be fixing things for the better and taking community feedback, and while they can make the game a bit more fast paced, can they work on their littler issues too? Obviously not. After all this time away from this game, I went back to test three of coins again, and big surprise, they still don't work. I equipped one just to see, which by common knowledge lasts 4 hours, and within the whole time of doing public events, strikes, etc. nothing at all. The whole time I was farming and getting zero results I was thinking about how much I was missing out on by popping that 3oc. Bungie claims that they are working properly with a 50% chance increase, but in reality they're just doing the opposite of what they're supposed to and cancelling out any drops at all. You know what's funny? I counted down my timer to the exact minute of my booster ending, did a single public event, and got an exotic right away. If that isn't proof enough combined with other people's stories of the same exact thing, I don't know what is. To think about all the time I wasted, all the shards I wasted on them, and all the exotics I could have been getting? But didn't? Its depressing and unfair. Just because your items are misleading? Take them out of the game or simply fix them. If you're a big game company and something is malfunctioning it's your job to go in and set things straight. But what are you doing? Sitting back with your dicks out not caring while all these problems spill over. I wanted to play Destiny 2 again after a break and realize that it deserved another chance, but I was yet again disappointed. Such a "step forward" for the combat system, but no easy fix that should've happened long ago for an item that should increase discovery but is actually decreasing it? You guys need to prioritize, you can't put out 3 of coins, and start working on other stuff while they are still bugged. How hard is it to change some percentage numbers versus crank out a new dlc? You guys are professionals at this, you nailed the original Destiny and proved to us that you're capable. What's happening now?

  • I fully agree with you. Every time I or any of my friends have used one of these, the people not using a 3oC seemed to get the same number or MORE exotics. I stopped using them after the first couple I popped then tried using them again for Warmind. Still useless... I'm going to go pretend they don't exist again.

  • Same here. It seems like I got more exotics when I didn't use them.

  • Man, I understand your frustration, but on this one I’d cut them some slack. As a developer (who doesn’t work for Bungie) I can attest that, based on what I can gather from the mechanics of the game, building 10 new DLC’s might very well be easier than fixing this if the core algorithm was built with a bug. It wouldn’t require altering one variable and changing a percentage as you might suspect, but more likely altering a family of classes (not destiny classes, but programming classes), and possibly every single pre-existing event that can drop an exotic - depending on how they implemented the randomized loot rewards. Building an extension onto a pre-existing system: EASY. Fixing a core bug that may be re-implemented or re-worked across n events (every possible public, every strike under x circumstances, every crucible match, factored by who is in your party, where the event took place possibly, or what you already have): very friggin hard.

  • yeah but you're saying fix it with a dlc... the people with dlc that's unfair to them, so no, don't be lazy and half assed, do your jobs.

  • It’s also entirely likely that this is due to human error, either by user or by programmer. Programmer error: This could easily be the result of one extra space or a misplaced comma among some 10,000 asset files - though admittedly this functionality is probably limited to something more like 10-50, but affects 10s of thousands of possible variations that would have to be individually tested before a fix was rolled out. Meaning tons of hours of labor and beta testing combined. User error: assuming that it didn’t work when it may have been working as intended. I take their answer to mean that for each total possible reward pool from an event (whatever that means) you have a 50% chance of receiving an exotic. You may easily have flipped tails 20 times in a row. It’s unknown. As I’m not aware of an announcement that this has been fixed, I’d assume it hasn’t been, but if it has, then you probably just drew the short straw. I don’t know if you have a cumulative 50% chance of landing an exotic over the course of a strike or not, but it could easily be setup as “defeat random add: 0.1% chance of item drop, with 0.1% chance of item, if dropped, being an exotic, over the course of a strike with 20,000 ads (the numbers aren’t like this but you get the idea) gives you a 20% chance of receiving an exotic, plus three guaranteed items at the end of the match each with a 10% chance of receiving an exotic for a cumulative 50% chance”. A setup like this would mean that they were being truthful when they said you have a 50% chance, but the odds of you landing one are still very very small. Better than they would be without it, but small still. Likely not the case, as a 50% roll at every possible loot rewarding action would be more likely, but actually kind of ridiculous after playing more than 10 minutes - as you’d wind up with a ton of exotics over even a very short session. My point is that the logic for loot rolls and how they are altered by 3oC is likely somewhere in between and this is never as simple as “just change a percentage” when this many variables are in play at all times.

  • It’s a 50% increase though. Not flat 50% chance. So if it were a 1% chance to get an exotic from some activity, it’s now 1.5% with 3oC active.
