Let me try to put together the facts why I think Eris could be the Hive Queen...
1: all that stuff she helps you do? You'll notice how it leads to the death of Oryx, Crota. Hive, especially Savathun, constantly battle to outlive one another.
2: When the Hive made war on far greater civilizations, Savathun, the queen of deceit and trickery, infiltrated their societies and formented their downfall.
3: she has Hive eyes and must blindfold herself to the Traveler's light.
4: she has a creepy green ball similar to ones Hive Wizards use. Savathun is a Wizard.
5: the Traveler should have healed after the destruction of the Black Garden, but does not. Savathun is the reason for this, her little setup at the tower can drain its light.
6: she knows much more about Oryx and Hive magic then is safe for Eris. She knows and uses all this stuff because she's Savathun!
7: she has us weaken Oryx's tribute system. But she has us feed her that tribute... who'd ever be interested in such dangerous artifacts and other creepy evil stuff? Savathun would.
8: When Eris Morn is around, Savathun wasn't coming. When she's gone... suddenly uh oh, here comes Savathun! She's on her way!

Eris can't be Savathun because the darkness is trying to kill her but eris wields darkness and it isn't killing her

1 ReplyWho is Eris Morn? A wild guess....Eris Morn!

3 RepliesI guarantee you that Eris is not Savathûn. Here’s my explanation and counter evidence
1: all that stuff she helps you do? You'll notice how it leads to the death of Oryx, Crota. Hive, especially Savathun, constantly battle to outlive one another.
You’ll also notice that everything we do and everything that the Vanguard and other City members help us with leads to the deaths of enemy leaders. The Hive may feed on war, but that is proof of nothing
2: When the Hive made war on far greater civilizations, Savathun, the queen of deceit and trickery, infiltrated their societies and formented their downfall.
True, but we have no evidence of the Hive being able to disguise themselves. It’s quite possible that Savathûn used concealed spies and/or made connections with saboteurs in the other species
3: she has Hive eyes and must blindfold herself to the Traveler's light.
She is confirmed to have gotten the Hive eyes when trapped in the Hellmouth by cutting them out of an Acolyte. She didn’t always have them: we have multiple people in the Tower that knew her before her change, and she even fought back at the Great Disaster before her raid incident. She wears the blindfold because the Hive eyes are sensitive to light and to Light (they helped her sew down in the Hellmouth)
4: she has a creepy green ball similar to ones Hive Wizards use. Savathun is a Wizard.
What Wizard has ever had a glowy ball? She got that rock from the Hellmouth and it has a connection to the events happening in the Sword Realms
5: the Traveler should have healed after the destruction of the Black Garden, but does not. Savathun is the reason for this, her little setup at the tower can drain its light.
We’re actually not sure about this one. Its possible that the Traveler started healing after the Garden died but we have no evidence one way or another (although it’s possible that the Traveler looked more restores when TTK came out but I haven’t checked this myself). The Hive have also never shown the ability to drain Light, although if they can get to it they can tear the Light out and feast on it. However, any being of Darkness close to Light should be weakened
6: she knows much more about Oryx and Hive magic then is safe for Eris. She knows and uses all this stuff because she's Savathun!
She learned from Toland and her own survival in the Hellmouth. She clearly doesn’t know everything (including who Nokris is, which Savathûn would almost certainly know)
7: she has us weaken Oryx's tribute system. But she has us feed her that tribute... who'd ever be interested in such dangerous artifacts and other creepy evil stuff? Savathun would.
We never feed Oryx’s tribute, we only weaken it and take off the top so that the lower levels all start fighting for dominance (power vacuum). Savathûn would definitely be interested in taking over the throne, but if she really is Eris then she would’ve taken it as soon as we killed Oryx and kept Willbreaker’s power for herself
8: When Eris Morn is around, Savathun wasn't coming. When she's gone... suddenly uh oh, here comes Savathun! She's on her way!
Savathûn’s Hive were in our system before Oryx even arrived, we just didn’t know until going to Titan. Savathûn probably began coming right when she found out that Oryx was dead, and only Eris left after Oryx and Aksis we’re dead because she wanted to find out what was going on outside the safety of the City Finally, Eris was a Guardian. We have records and living people who know her from whenever she still had Light I’d also like to point out that we have no proof of Savathûn being able to Take. Yes there are Taken named after her and Quria, but we already know that Quria is under Savathûn’s control and that Taken can move Blight to create more Taken. It’s very likely that Savathûn is using Quria to control a large group of Taken (but not all) while she herself figures out how to Take. The only act of Taking we have seen in D2 is from Blight manipulation, not from a Wound like Oryx did. It is possible that Savathûn can Take, but all evidence points against it

Edited by EchoAquarius: 4/2/2018 6:48:50 PMNot a chance in hell that Eris Morn is Savathun. If she was, then she would never have been a guardian before the events of the Hellmouth, because Savathun is one of Oryx's two sisters, who were both with him in his conquest of various races, including the Ecumene, the Taishibethi, and the Harmony. To shut down your number 8 point particularly, Eris left prior to the Cabal invasion for the sole purpose of locating Xivu Arath and Savathun (oh and Nokris, which was brought to light through the lore tab on the Gensym Knight class items). This is depicted in a grimoire card from Age of Triumph that shows her saying goodbye to her old friend Asher Mir, who had only just been converted by Brakion. Also, the reason she knows so much is because she spent multiple years of her live living among the hive on the moon. Keep in mind that this time was years before even Oryx arrived in the system, meaning that Savathun was still radio silent, missing, etc. Eris is not Savathun. Bottom line. No questions asked. I'm gonna make a wild guess and say you never played destiny 1 and know absolutely nothing about Eris's history and only did brief research after hearing Ikora say her name in D2, but I could be wrong.

It's an... interesting theory, unfortunately it's just not right. With that said, this is Bungie, complex and well thought out plot is too complicated for them...
-
Eris is a champion of the saying, “The sooner Trials dies the better”.
-
Eris isn’t her and she isn’t evil. The last we hear of her is when she’s talking to an old cold Ashir mir and says there is something she has to go do. Not to mention she Hates the hive after what was done to her team so I doubt she’d ever side with them.
-
Interesting theory, but i doubt it.
-
12 RepliesIvoted no but really like your reasoning behind this. It would make an excellent twist to the story.
-
Something this interesting and well thought out wont come out of the failed comic writers we currently have as leads
-
I voted no but this is still a really interesting twist that i'd be interested in seeing
-
Cool theory!

Some of the replies here have let the lore community down - they're just rude and arrogant. Some other replies are polite and point out the OPs failings with detailed counter arguments demonstrating a detailed knowledge by some. Either way, I'm glad the OP has posted this as I've learnt some stuff from the better replies.
-
Absolutely not. I made a post a while ago that disproved this
-
No. Just No. Sure the ending of TTK’s story implies she is perhaps working alongside Savathun, but the idea that she is Savathun is just plain ridiculous.

Try reading the Lore before you post stupid conspiracy theories.

When she's gone... suddenly uh oh, here comes Savathun! She's on her way!
*sigh* you're dumb 1. She helped us because the Hive killed her -blam!-ing friends / fireteam when they tried to kill Crota 2. Ok and? Unrelated 3. She was the sole survivor that was stuck down there, her Ghost got taken by a Wizard and destroyed, she used Toland's journal to steal Acolyte's eyes to see (Toland got killed by the Deathsinger) 4. That's just a Tombhusk, she's obviously communicating with Toland (his soul is stuck in the Hive netherworlds), don't see who the hell else would help except him since he's able to see every Hive throne world and map them all 5. No, our ghost would've sensed it, just like how he sensed the Light returning to the Traveler after we destroyed it, just like he sensed the shard we freed was being corrupted/poisoned and sucked of it's light and it was affecting the traveler, also the Traveler is huge, her little "setup" can't possibly be strong enough to drain the damn Light 6. No she knows about it that much because she's a Hidden, an agent part of Ikora's team that Ikora commands, they did research on the Hive before they tried their assault on Crota, also she read Tolands journal entirely, she's gained all of Toland's knowledge on the Hive, their rituals, spells, etc 7. She's not savathun. 8. She left before the tower got attacked to go find a way for us to get rid of the Hive once and for all, we killed Crota and Oryx because of their menace to us all, how hard is that to grasp? Have you paid attention at all in D1? Are you a kinderguardian? Do you even know anything about the lore or atleast read the cards...jfc

11 RepliesNo. Eris Morn is who she is....a Hunter who was a survivor of both the disastrous battle on the Moon against Crota, and the equally disastrous first raid on Crota's throne world. Because of that failed raid she was cut off from the Light, trapped (as we nearly were by Oryx back in The Taken King) and lost her Ghost. She survived---and saved our life and our Ghost----by mastering some of the powers of The Darkness. Her "rock" is really a Hive soul that she draws power from. Think of it as a Hive version of a Ghost. She knows what she knows about the Hive because she was an acquaintance of Toland The Shattered (Toland is to the Hive what Osiris is to the Vex) , and because she had to learn about them in order to survive the years she was trapped "behind enemy lines". The only question that remains about her is who it was she was referring to at the end of "Regicide" when she says "My Queen"....and what she meant when she said, "I've accepted my fate...and I will not fail." I think there is a cynical streak in a lot of young people, which is why I think some people want to think she is either Hive....or she's working with the Hive. But when you listen to her talk, she has nothing but hatred and contempt for the Hive....and rage over what was done to her and comrades/friends. I think whom she was referring to was the Queen of the Awoken...and her "fate" is I believe that she understand that she is the instrument of the Hive's destruction...and represents an important middle ground between Light and Darkness. So many aspects of this story strongly suggest that while The Darkness is what we would consider Evil, that the Traveller may not be what we would consider fully "Good"....and what we might find ourselves in is really an ideological struggle between FORCES of the UNIVERSE that are out of balance. A "War in Heaven" for lack of a better term. Being fought by those who want to populate the Universe through the power of Creation (The Light and The Traveller), and those who want to "perfect" the Universe through conflict and Destruction. (The Darkness and its Minions). There is also evidence to suggest that Light and Dark are not separate...but are different manifestations of something else. There are references to the "corrupted Light" of the Shards in the EDZ. The fact that Awoken (whom we know were affected by the Darkness during The Collapse) can still be Guardians. The fact that minions of the Darkness are drawn to the Light, and the Hive need it to sustain their own immortality and to feed their worm larvae. ...and the fact that Eris Morn started out as a Hunter Guardian, but now is more like a Warlock/Hive Wizard than a Hunter. Not to mention that many minions of the Darkness seem to have similar powers to Guardians...but just based in Darkness. What we may ultimately find out is that it may not be in Humanities long-term interest for EITHER side to win this war...and that we may be required to bring these out-of-balance forces into a more sustainable Harmony. And that Eris may represent a necessary nexus between Light and Dark---along with the Awoken and perhaps even the Fallen----that is necessary to subdue the Darkness, and "restore the balance".
