Why can't I equip my shaders, mods, or ornaments?
Yeah so I hold the a button to equip a shader, mod, or ornament and it doesn't work. It makes a little dumbass sound, that's it...

This sounds like a case of your controler having stick drift. Any stick movement intended or not can cancel actions that you need to hold down a button for a sort time.
