This is a bit of a joke tbh, obviously serial ragequitters need to be punished but i got banned for quitting 2 games where i was left 4 vs 1 on team swat. The first time i tried to make a go of it and ended up getting my ass handed to me so i switched the console off and gave up.
And again it happened, 4 vs 1, i decided to cut my losses and just quit before i got anihilated.
Yet i get a ban....you guys really need some way to distinguish whos quitting legitimatly and whos just being an idiot.
Anybody know how long the ban lasts?
Posted by: lollerblades18 Apparently not because the same thing just happened to me. I routinely get kicked. It says everyone quit, puts me as the only one left, and still gives me credit for the game. I like the idea of the quit ban, but it should be able to tell the difference between faulty connection and quitting like a little girlboy.
Gah! Why did you have to bump this? Seriously, I would try to avoid it.

you know what they should do? they should either: 1. Give you 3 boots per day, so you wont boot unless they're actually being -blam!-es, OR 2. make boots only count as 1/2 a quit (so people wouldnt use booting as a free quitting strat.
-
this is -blam!- -blam!- this happens ALL THE -blam!- TIME so i get booted ALL THE GOD DAMN TIME because im sometimes not careful. Or they betray me and 1. i dont boot them or 2. i cant boot them and then i betray them back instead of booting them and they boot me and anyway im always on probation for getting booted cuz most people are -blam!- accident booters. Im really pissed because i almost NEVER quit! IM TRY TO BE -blam!- PRO AND COOL AND ONLY QUIT WHEN THERES LIKE NO ONE LEFT ON MY TEAM! So the extremely rare times im pissed off enough to actually quit, i get banned. -blam!- -blam!-! IM -blam!- BANNED FOR THE SECOND TIME IN ONE HOUR!! RIGHT NOW DAMNIT!

thats what i was thinking

4 on 1 your advantage

I just got a 2 week ban for reaching the cR limit, I *blam* no lifed matchmaking gruntpacolypse and got nearly 1k every game 1k x 60 = 60k, I was sick that whole day, so I was at home with nothing better to do, Bungie sucks at issuing legit Bans
Posted by: LintyElm
Posted by: Achronos You quit out a lot more than two games. The way the quit warning works is that you quit out a bunch of games, you get flagged as a habitual quitter. This flag will last a few days. During this flagged period, any time you leave a game early for any reason, you will be unable to return to matchmaking for a short period of time. If you needed to legitimately step away (bathroom, walk the dog, food, etc.) then you won't even notice. In short, don't regularly quit out of the game. Feel free to quit if you need to attend to real life issues though. Simple, and makes the game better for everyone.
how about if you lagg out?
you are still affecting your team the same way.

Oh stop bumping. No one cares. This thread keeps dying for a reason.
-
and it happened again, fix this crap
-
This all -blam!-. I Get dc'd from games come my college internet sucks, the games are 100% ok, just my matchmaking takes a long time. So after every match it resets my connection and then i get banned. DC's shouldnt count towards quitting
Posted by: ziZ FiRE Ziz Jeez, I can't believe how pathetic people are. There's no possible way to get banned if you only quit when it's 4v1 or when you lag out. Period. IT WONT HAPPEN. STOP RAGE QUITING. OR DEAL WITH THE 15 MINUTES.
FALSE My internet connection is a bit flaky lately, and I've been lagged out of matches a bunch of times tonight. I didn't think it would actually count as a quit, and I have never intentionally quit a match, but I still got the quit ban. It was quite infuriating at first, but now that I know it's only like 15 minute, I guess I'll let it slide...

back in the halo 3 glory days, me and my friend won a big team slayer match, 2(us)vs full team and we won 50-45... its possible
Posted by: bongbong03
Posted by: JoeRogaine IDEA: "Surrender" option in the pause menu. How it works: Everyone on your team has to vote to surrender. Once all team members have voted to surrender, your team gives up and the other team wins. This does not count as quitting, but it does count as a loss. Perhaps it costs credits. Why it works: A full team will rarely vote to surrender, unless they are getting crushed. In which case surrendering is a viable option. If you are the only person left on your team, you are the only person that needs to vote to surrender, making the option easy for your to choose. If it's only you and another person, you only have one person to convince. How it might be exploited: People will grief others when they are the only 2 left and not vote to surrender while getting beat. Teams of wussies will surrender at the slightest hint of losing.
That is very interesting. I'm trying to think if there is a way to exploit this...
It's not necessary anyway. Not a single person has been banned for quitting where all they did was leave games where their whole team quit. That'd have to happen to you every single game for about a dozen games for you to get banned.
-
they need to fix the booting crap too. playin infection i was a humna. 2 zombies came up i killed one and he killed me. i was dead bullets kept traveling and killed other. since i was dead the game assumed i betrayed him now im temp banned from matchmaking cause of this stupid crap.

how long is the temporary ban? (who gives a crap about a 15 minute ban?) Unless you earn a living with a good K/D, then your stats don't matter at all. In fact, no one besides you cares about a positive K/D, unless you point it out like you are now. You need to fix your logic. I don't see any reason in making an entire patch just because one kid kept whining about a very short ban he deserved.

I haven't seen the 5 pages of comments, but boosters quit by shutting the console off and that is probably where Bungie gets the leads. There is another way to quit rather than shutting it off. It is called "Start Button: Leave Game" option. If you quit by that method then you probably would not have been banned. [Edited on 10.26.2010 7:13 PM PDT]

Strange, ive quit 4 games in a row and wasnt banned.
-
Lol, i was in 4v1 once got my like mike challenge and 36 kills.
-
Obviously you quit much more than 2 times that day (the quit ban will take into effect after about 5 or so quits), and it's ultimately better to stick with the game and earn some credits rather than rage quitting and risking the ban. This is exactly what it's designed for, so stop acting like you're not one of those people that quit just because the game isn't working in your favor. And it's a 15 minute ban. Go finish up campaign. Play some firefight. Go outside. It's not that hard to balance out your life from video games.
-
If anything I think the quit ban should be much more severe. It's annoying how people just quit out of games. Almoest every game I play someone quits or lags out.
-
Lesson Learned: Don't Quit. Lol I played a game on invasion slayer and everyone on my team quit and the other team had all there players,6, and I still beat them! Moo-HaHa
