Armor Set bonus, Any news about set bonuses?

I knew this blew up in a conversation a while ago, Many people said that this is something they would like to see and one of the community managers took the feedback away saying they thought it was a good idea. Currently with armor masterworks all armor is purely cosmetic, there needs to be a reason to get Armor sets other than just cosmetics. Anyone heard any chatter or news of this still being a possibility? *Edit some great ideas I like this one from a gaurdian called Springer
How about completing those specific armor sets, plus ornaments if there are any, upgrades that armor's set class item (cloak, mark, bond) to an exotic. Allow us to wear 1 exotic piece of armor in addition to the exotic class item. Masterwork's are coming to exotics at some point so you wouldn't lose your while-in-super health buff. Not to mention it would create another chase, exotic class items for each armor set! I think ppl would like this, lots including, me ground out reputation in OG Destiny for exotic class item! Tie it to the factions again, tie it an exotic quest line, etc... So many ways to go with this.
• We were able to wear two exotic pieces of armor in D1 with the faction towels. I miss popping into a zone with that Dead Orbit flare...

      • I'd rather get some insight on mods 2.0, to be honest.

Which is funny, because back during Vanilla D1 so many people were conplaining that everyone looked same because of the light level system. Bungie later countered that problem with the infusion system. Now everyone would look the same with armor set perks (with minor differences depending on if a full set is required) again. Peopel already complain about a lack of customization (fixed rolls, skill trees). How do set bonuses help here.... Cosmetics were a big thing especially since Bungie advertised the original game with it very earlier („heh, where did you find that armor piece“ etc). And, as I said, people were complaining and even requested some of the blue rare gear to made legendary because many of them looked actually really good. Tbh I would love to have different perks and better mods instead of using an armor set I don‘t like but not using it making me less effiecient...

Would love to see Gear sets but sadly the loot pool isn't big enough in destiny to be able to do gear sets like the Division,Diablo 3 or even Monster Hunter World

                • Here's an idea; So we all know about raid mods right? Yeah, the awesome ones that only work on the leviathan; how about we get more unique armor mods like That, on a piece per piece basis? Like the raid set gives bonuses on special, power, and melee kills in the leviathan; The factions could accord with the 3 ability styles; New Monarchy for supers, Dead orbit for grenades, FWC for melees. It wouldn't be hard to extend something like this to other sets.

I'd rather them grant a mod or whatever separate from the armor upon collecting them. Having to wear a set sounds not only stifling as far as player expression goes, but also a god damn nightmare as far as gear management is concerned. That said the only good thing it would grant the game, other than the obvious gameplay features, is that it would be easier to tell what a player is going to do. Which will be very little anyway.

                • Using Full Armor sets should have certain hidden effect. My favorite Idea is if using Full armor when used with matching weapon loadouts would cause Lost Sectors or Adventures to have a high chance to drop a single Exotic Shader. Example being that if I have a full Omolon Armor Set(Kerak/ErrantKnight/Philomath) and a Omolon Energy/Heavy weapon in my loadout that I'd have a chance to have a Special Omolon Themed Shader drop alongside my Adventure/LostSector/Strike loot. An exclusive (Exotic?) manufacturer themed shader that goes above the Eververse legendary gun manufacturer shaders. For me that would keep the interests and farming alive for me aswell as encouraging me to switch my Loadouts around. For those you haven't noticed each vendor armor set is as follows. Veist: Titan-Devastation Complex, Hunter-Road Complex, Warlock-High Minded Complex Hakke: Titan-Retro Grade, Hunter-Dead End Cure, Warlock-Heiro Camo Omolon Mentioned Above Suros: Expected to be added with Next Paid(Warmind?) DLC

Just make the full set of armor give you a static buff. Full Vanguard gives +4 Resilience and +2 Recovery at no cost, all energy ammo get 50% more Reserve, all Power gets 30% more Reserve, And all incoming burn damage is reduced by 20% in PvE content. Full Crucible gives +4 Recovery and +2 Mobility at no cost, Grants faster weapon handling and reload, crouching Fully removes you from Radar, extended slide distance and 20% more Melee damage in crucible matches. Full Trials and Raid offer +3 of everything when in those activities. Trials enables Radar for 15 metres, Adds bonus of Crucible Sets and passively grants Snapshot and Quick draw. Raid Passively Charges your super when taking damage, Adds bonus of Vanguard set as well as stacking with all mods relevant to the Raid That are Equiped. FACTION SETS grants 2+ mobility and 1+ recovery and resilience, grant bonus tokens per event Strike is 10 minimum, heroic is 15, Nightfall is 20, Prestige and Raid are 40. They grand bonuses to weapon handling and reload. They make abilities charge faster and grant minor recharge buffs in PvE when using the respective faction armor (15% damage increase of abilities in PvE)

                      • Did you grind out the Global Events this month? I picked up most of the pieces that I was missing. I finally completed my 6pc classified Firecrest set and only need one more for Hunter's Faith. I never really played them, I normally use a 5pc Tactician build with an Inventive backpack, but figured I'd try them both out and see how they played. Both are really just PVE builds, I run either 6pc Striker or Nomad in the Dark Zone. Don't worry if you missed the Global Events. Massive is running each one of them for two more days to close out the month. You still have time to get some good stuff!

                          • Well they brought it in for the raid gear so that's a good start. I would imagine they will start to work it in to the new DLC/season 3 stuff as standard. But I fear that they won't go back to all the armour sets from season 1 and 2 as that's a lot of work. Especially when people may not wear the older armour as much. Just my thoughts anyway

                          • It's amazing to me that Bungie couldn't think of a simple concept like gear sets. Diablo has had this for years. No, instead they are content to give us armor that has almost no value to game play. Idiocy.

                                • I'm not golng to be perk-penalised just becaure I know how to mix and match (thx Garanimals!) So, you'd have to be able to self-define the five pieces which make up the set. Otherwise, you're just encouraging 'sameness'. That's bad. Beyond that I like the idea!
