Bungie is currently hiring for a 3 month contract with players to gain feedback from them.
This is big news because it gives potential for Bungie to realize the importance of fixing D2 and how players can give meaningful feedback.
The requirements for the application to the contract are to:
Have significant D1 and D2 experience, including end game mastery (Most likely includes raid and trials expertise)
Be an excellent verbal and written communicator
And have the ability to work effectively individually or with a small team.
If any of you wish to apply, just follow the above link.

Let's see: REQUIRED: Significant Destiny and Destiny 2 experience, including end-game mastery. 2900 hours between the two. Though end-game mastery is questionable; my clan split before I could get through Leviathan... or even try the raid lair. REQUIRED: Excellent communicator both written and verbal. False modesty aside, my writing is awesome. Verbal... I have the interpersonal skills of an 11-year-old. REQUIRED: Ability to work effectively individually as well as with a small team. Depends on the team. APPRECIATED: Has a wide range of classes represented in Destiny 2 (and Destiny). Played some more than others. APPRECIATED: Experience leading clans, large social groups, or teaching new players effective end game strategies. Nope. Too bad... sounded like fun.

I'd be great for the job but the pay would have to be amazing to play this atrocity

Bungie you are hiring the wrong type player for your feedback. Players like these don’t want solo players coming in and destroying them like they did in D1. Players like these don’t want to talk about anything but K/D’s. Players like these like your last special ammo update to D1. Players like these you thought were going to push your game socially. You’re just being stupid now Bungie. I played the D2 beta and chose not to buy it. You killed your game by pushing the social aspects and making the solo players irrelevant. It was tolerated in D1 but not acceptable in D2.

6 RepliesThey had meaningful feedback... About 3 years worth of it...
-
4 RepliesOh so now they want our feedback? Nah your alright. That ship sailed long ago my friends.
-
11 RepliesJob is probably going to go to some kiss-asses and brown-nosers who won't tell them that they are doing something wrong.
-
They forgot to require that you be a streaming fanboy ass kisser who will lick the boots of the arrogant hacks who are the upper level designers and project managers. Anyone who actually has good feedback need not apply.

What is concerning about with this is they have 2 communities of people (Bungie.net and Destiny subreddit) that have left a lot of feedback over 3 years and yet they need a small team to give them feedback? What's even more concerning are two other factors: star struck-ness and the honeymoon period. What do I mean? The first one is a little more understandable, so they are going to hire on a small team of players who play the game a lot, right? So these players will obviously hold some type of idolization of the studio. How will Bungie sift people who love the game more than they do the studio as to not get a team of people who will always reply, "Yeah, that's cool!" or "This is awesome!" because "it is Bungie, man, it is so exciting to be with them!" Cause that type of feedback is flat and superfluous and helps the game very little. For the second part, the honeymoon period. If this is new content this small team will be testing, how long will they be testing it? Cause with any new content there is a period of time where everything is so new and shiny! SO COOL! We all know that feeling. Look back to when you first got Destiny 2, "Aw, yeah! This is so much better than Destiny 1! It even has a story!" You know most of us said it.....then the end game hit and that period of everything new and shiny, the honeymoon period, ended. And, from there we slowly started to realize that...oh gawd, this game is bad. Like really really bad, especially in comparison to Destiny 1. If you ask me Bungie should develop a PTS, or a Public Test Server and get raw feedback from an entire community, rather than just a small team. I don't know. I don't even know why I still leave feedback and suggestions to Bungie any more. Bungie seems to listen to sponsors, numbers in an Excel spreadsheet, casuals, critics who don't play the game for more than a few months or every time DLC drops, """data""", Activision, Luke Smith, themselves, my next door neighbor's dog....everything and everyone but us.

Edited by toughonstains632: 3/25/2018 12:44:41 AMIt's more like testing changes before they go live, from a non-technical perspective. Their development cycle is so slow that they need proper internal feedback before they get too committed to changes. Doing a playtest server would be a similar analogy, except it wouldn't require the polish (nor the gaming infrastructure) to make it work. Here's another example where it could be helpful: They have all the finalized changes ready for a patch, and on a technical level it seems fine. For example, an experienced player might see that: "Oh, the changes to snipers doesn't really matter, since the lack of radar kills the foresight of the weapon. And in PvE it also doesn't matter since the ADS time is still slower than the time it takes to be engaged by mobs". Even though that feedback is there, they still need to get the patch out. They could start working on that fundamental problem after they launch the patch, before the community notices and starts complaining. It's nice to have that as a contract position too, since it means the person is less likely to sugar coat their experience. They know that they've got 3 months, and that's it. The more accurate their foresight is with their feedback, the more likely they will land additional contracts. I'd say Bungie should have already had these positions filled. It's most likely they already had contract workers for this purpose, but they were "yes men", and weren't accurate with their feedback/it didn't correlate with community concerns. Honestly, as cliche as it sounds, they should just hire Datto/Triple for it. I know they're streamers, but their opinions absolutely correlate with mine (plus they live nearby). My perspective wasn't shaped by their popular exposure. They played far more Destiny 2 than I ever would.

Pointless because nothing will change based on our feedback. 1) We asked for transmogrification and we got chroma then ornaments. (Big fail in D2) 2) we asked for capture the flag and we got rift. (Meh) 3) we asked for buffs and we got fusion rifle nerfs.(who asked for it?) 4) we asked for horde mode and we got PoE. (Not what we want) We can give our feedback to them as match as we want but in the end of the day, they will give us what they want.

Edited by TotalDramaGamer: 3/25/2018 4:45:55 AMLol, like there isn't feedback they could use for free? Everyone likes to sh*t on youtubers but 'My name is Byf' is one that has thrown around very well thought out, and even fully displayed, ideas that could radically improve the game incentive and lore wise. There are plenty of others that have great ideas for exotics and exotic concepts. Why Bungie feels the need to recycle exotics is a gross misuse of the ideas laid freely before them. Just look at the creation's page. You've also had plenty, and that's an understatement, of very well thought out posts and concrete suggestions that took in the strengths and weaknesses of Destiny and tried to merge a solution out of it. Examples like the Elemental Primary dilemea (there were 2-3 really thought out systems that never got considered). Stuff like adding balanced but fun abilities to the trees. How to expand the weapon system. How to correctly revamp mods. How to bring Lost Sectors back into a fun yet mysterious activity. I mean... this is Bungie who finally realized 'not having secret exotic quests' was a missed feature... there is no saving people who can't realize how great some features once were (and now have to remake). No amount of feedback can save this game. Why? Because feedback isn't the problem. Bungie's the problem. You can have all the data you want... but if don't do anything good with it then it means nothing.

So now they're actually going to pay people to test things for them instead of charging them? Took them over 3 years to do something right ....
-
6 RepliesOr they're paying youtubers/players to get the news out about the next DLC they want us to buy... I'm sure they'll be hiring the big names like Datto/Gothlion/etc... Trying to build up Hype... good job bungie...
-
3 RepliesI wonder if they know they have a feedback forum? Idiots.
-
6 RepliesEdited by D-Von, Kell of Tables: 3/24/2018 9:35:37 PMThis is just a PR trick. They clearly aren't gonna hire people who disagree with them. Why hire people when you can look at twitter, forums, youtube and get free feedback. Wanna know why? Cause that is positive feedback that focuses on the negatives. Bungie doesn't want people to tell them about the negatives. They will hire people who won't say a single bad thing. I'd just go in a be like BITCH you got a feedback forum for a reason you dumbasses so use it

Edited by SkinlessGorgon: 3/25/2018 9:50:52 AMSo they are only looking for "professional" feedback 4 years in? So it would appear that hardcore players don't know what the -blam!- they are talking about, and the "anicdotal" evidence and "sentiment" provided over the last 4 years appears to have been completely ignored. Also this sounds more like a job for a jailed criminal wanting to make his sentence worse. I certainly couldn't play this game for money, and neither can a lot of the top Twitch streamers. Certainly not in its current state. Sounds like they need to read all the hardcore player feedback over the last 4 years to see where they went wrong. In terms of systems and gameplay, its already been covered. For a 3 month contract? Are they looking to get feedback on DLC3, TTQ? Aint no one gonna buy that trash based on the plateful of garbage that was put down to us. Edit: Also more Bungie kiss-asses and yes men are not required.

1 ReplyI was going to apply until I got to the last line of the application.... "This position is onsite at our studio in Bellevue, WA, are you open to relocation? * "
-
2 RepliesEdited by Communist Toast: 3/25/2018 6:19:03 AMIt's hardly big news. I thought it was pretty common and normal that companies (esp AAA ones) have what one would call, "game testers" like? that being said, I did apply cause I want to help Destiny if possible. Edit: But I also told them that I felt the position was..unneeded really, all you really need to do is read most of the feedback on the forums to know what players want. They realized it was important to fix D2 when there were blogs/articles talking about how bad it's gotten and when they saw the numbers drop majorly. But they can't push out their fixes fast enough (either cause of the engine they use is so poopoo, or they are just slow had coming up with solutions)
-
Edited by Ascent_Cobra: 3/26/2018 2:27:37 AMOr they could simply follow people with concise assessments and excellent communication skills on the boards. This would solve ~75% of their problems.
-
I personally wouldn't mind having a hand in the balancing of abilities and weapons. It feels like they don't have enough players with a diverse background on shooter games and I feel like having someone with that kind of diversity will help the game. Sorry if I'm being too...self-promoting...
-
1 ReplyIf they have waited this long to get player feedback to fix D2, they are -blam!-ed beyond all recognition
-
1 ReplyIf this is just a job for play testers then don't bother. I've heard it's actually a terrible job. Like going around different areas of the map and pushing the jump button for hours on end. Or jumping into walls on purpose over and over agin to find bugs. This would make me go crazy and you probably get paid minimum wage.
-
Must have large social media following.
-
1 ReplyThis is just sad. Studios do this BEFORE the game is released, not after. This is just horrible.
-
Datto is our saviour now
still won't buy the expansion until it's heavily discounted. But thistle probably be for D3
-
It's for US citizens only, I assume? No chance for Europals to be involved?
