Story? The thing people mock that is near non existent. A pvp setup where ability spam and people being so OVER RELIANT on one hit kill capable weapons was an issue, hence the various changes to trying to reduce special/heavy ammo (which is all they needed to do in D2, changing the weapon setup wasn't necessary). No in game lore? There were people saying the raids were progressively getting worse after VoG (me included) as they continued to get dumbed down. There was plenty of things wrong with D1, it's why so much changed in D2, the issue is Bungie failed to truly act on the issues in a correct manner so it makes the impressive feat that something is worse than D1 when the bar was already set so low to begin with.

There is no such thing as ability spam. It's just playing the game as it was built. If you don't like abilities in pvp, COD is always there. BF 1? I'll take ability "spam" over tanks and airplanes anyday.

Everyone had it the same. Get used to it or play something besides a game that revolves around a source of light that grants abilities. Complaining about ability spam in D1 is why D2 sucks. Plenty of shooters that don't have abilities. Go play them.
