Why does Shadowshot completely cancel other supers?

Before you ask, no, I’m not complaining. I queue in the Crucible with my friends and most of the time, there’s a Hunter on the enemy team using Nightstalker. Yes, this is coming from a guy who is terrible in the Crucible (I won’t be surprised if someone responds with “git gud.” I’ll just add a tally mark to the sadness list [there’s about 40 rallies on it now]), but I can’t keep a straight face when a Nightstalker runs up to me, which makes me think they’re going to use their sword (if they were even using one), only for them to draw the bow and - magic effects - cancels out my Hammer of Sol. I’m also not trying to tell Hunters to quit using Nightstalker in the Crucible. I’m fine with it.
Can you tell me how to make a solar bow? I’d like that.
On a side note, remember that post I made called “This Shouldn’t Be Possible?” I wasn’t awake at the time of its creation. It was my brother who did that, and he gets mad easily. So... yeah. I’ve cleared that issue up. But you weren’t here for that. You’re here for the Nightstalker “complaint.” (See how I put complaint like that? It’s kind of one and also not one at the same time.) Cheers. Edit: Okay, thanks for the tips and facts.

  • Though back in the original Destiny, I remember casting Shadow Shot at a Warlock. Right before the anchor tethered him, he began his animation to launch a Nova Bomb. Just then, the anchor activated and snatched him right out of the air. It was hilarious! I only bring this up because usually Night Stalkers tether roaming supers. I managed to yank an instant-kill super out of the air. Lucky anticipation, hehe.

  • I'm not complaining either, but it is very frustrating! I'm in my striker titan, see three guys ready to kill me. Let me activate my fist of panic and take 'em all out and then the damn 4th guy, and invis nightstalker who I didn't see hiding behind a wall hits me with shadow shot and I'm dead. I only have two characters, a titan and warlock. I did all three in D1 and just really did not like the hunter much, so didn't use him in D2. But now, to me anyway, it is clear that hunters have an advantage in crucible. I'm THINKING about leveling up my hunter. I have been buying all hunter exotics from Xur each week (what else can I spend my 1200 shards on?) but the thought of going through that story again? ugh.... but I do have that crucible emblem that shows how many of each class I have killed and there is a noticeable difference. A LOT more (I Mean a LOT MORE) hunters killed than titan or lock. especially locks.......can't be a coincidence. every team I go against seems to have at least two hunters on it. again, I am NOT complaining. it's frustrating that's all. hell it's frustrating to getbhit by 35 nova bombs in a match too! LOL

    • Well, it's like a drain move.. Supposed to pin people down so they are easy kills for the team-mates or yourself. Saying that the Hunter is based around strategic fighting and quick combat, the Shadowshot's abilities seems appropriate. It's more defense than attack I guess. Either to run away or to help your team. To me, the Hunter is basically, well, you are the prey to them. Don't exactly want you to throw out a fire hammer at them. But yeah, kinda annoying with the Sentinal. So damn annoying when you have one blocking your gun fire and then two punks jump out from behind yelling yelling 'Hi there. Bye there."

If you see them running at you and they still get through the animation and successfully tether you, you do need to Git Gud (just giving it to you straight). The way I read your post your hammers were active and a Hunter was able to activate shadow shot and shoot his tether. The tether effect isn't instantaneous so you had the animation delay and the tether activation delay to kill them. Edit: A solar bow - see any old episode of The Dukes of Hazard. That is a properly made solo bow. ✌️

    • Canceling abilities is literally the entire point of a tether...

      • I usually don't check numbers right off the bat, but the nature of your post compelled. Sure enough, another in a long line of .94 users that can't make it happen even in an environment where an entire platform is built to help you ''succeed''. Mathematical fact. Quit pushing blame and look in the mirror. There's no more govt cheese, that shit ran out when D2 dropped. This pvp is exactly as advertised - easier to have early ''success'' via the construct and harder to master. Not being able to play above your gifted metrics is YOUR PROBLEM. Have a shred of dignity, admit your situation, and try to earn your way past your fraudulent existence .

      • Just wait till mayhem. It is beyond dirty and this coming from a nightstalker main. I was going to switch after two matches the last time it came but thank god the warlock glitch that took my guilty feeling away. Solo tether set up with the colony in mayhem is op

          • Because it was made that way? Titans also have something similar that can be summoned in a fraction of the time. It’s called a suppression grenade for the Sentinel Subclass.

Think of it as a defensive super. Nightstalker can't kill with their super, they have no offence, just defence. Here's two scenerios, I'm around a corner and hear you pop you're hammers. If I have an offensive super I can pop my golden gun and kill you and two of your buddies. If I have a defensive super I can't kill you with it but I can shut down your super saving my two buddies from your hammer. Yeah, it sucks to pop your hammers only to get them stolen, but the nightstalker can't kill the whole enemy team plus one guy one more time after he respawns like hammers can. Nightstalkers can't kill anyone. I guess it feels worse to pop hammers and then get teathered and lose them then it does to pop hammers then get nova bombed and lose them when you die. But hey, teather doesn't kill, you do have a shot at killing the hunter who teathered you. When a warlock nova bombs you, you not only lose your super but you also die. I think it's an intresting balance. Nightstalkers give up offense for defense. They shut down supers at the cost of not having a super to kill enemies. Hope this helps you see it in a different 'light'.

            • Every super can be a counter super though, not to mention they're suppose to be powerful. Tether is still a defensive super( bubble bros broke out of it ), plus it still has bad hit detection and death to another super before activation is still common. Keep an open mind when someone rushes, you thought close quarters when he thought line of sight

            • Just throw a hammer at the tether im sure it'll destroy it before it takes you out of super kind of like smash destroys it before it can tether the striker.

            • Do you perhaps recall a titan Grenade called "suppression grenade"? The void contains nullifying abilities and the hunter's Shadow Shot excels at nullifying and draining an enemy of life and Light. That's it's entire thing. The bow launches the arrow, the arrow forms an anchor, and the anchor tethers nearby enemies and succumbs them to the draining effects of the void. That's all there is to it, my dude

            • For the solar bow you could borrow Hanks from Dungeons and Dragons. It’s a little weird that he was voiced by Buddy from Charles in charge. Yes, I know you’ve probably never heard of either one.
