Edited by One Shot Ted: 3/14/2018 2:37:04 PMI chose not to pick Gjally because of the difference between "fun" and "OP." Gjally definitely fell under the latter of the two. I got my Gjally in the middle of HoW, and used it rather frequently. I was thrilled at first, but ended up regretting its power, because it meant I couldn't use weapons that I actually enjoyed without intentionally hindering myself. Machine guns and swords are fun. I love the fantasy behind pumping 100 high impact rounds into a target in rapid succession, or walking right up to something and beating it to a pulp with a flaming. -blam!-ing. Sword. Firing one rocket and watching everything die instantaneously with no effort just doesn't carry the same weight.

To me, Gally was definitely “fun” and “OP” not one or the other. I do get your point though.
-
Everyone has their own tastes. I can definitely see why some people would find Ghorn fun, but it just isn't my cup of tea.
-
Gally would be nice too, but we have rocket launchers that have post nades and at least one tracking missle launcher, so I guess that's why people are overlooking it.
-
Galley used to be the absolute best but after they brought back nerfed. Sleeper took the throne for most boss damaging heavy.
-
You really didn't need Ghorn unless you were doing end-game content...and it really wasn't that FUN of a weapon to use. It just did more damage than anything else.
-
Because if it was brought into D2 it would be become underwhelming so much that it's legend would be become a myth. "Remember that Gjallarhorn was the most powerful weapon?" "Naah that's just a myth, what are you talking about."
-
These kids never experienced the true power of pre nerf gally
-
YES, truly a weapon to behold. Remember the days where we'd sit on top of the ledge waiting for Dickface to come out of his drop ship only to rain gally's on him when he did?!?! So much fun!!!
-
Even post nerf, thing couldn't be stopped
-
I dunno, it never felt the same when it came back. I was so excited to get the Iron Gjally... and I think I used it a handful of times. Dark Drinker just took over the role of "Always in the Heavy slot."
-
I never played rise of Iron DLC so I have Nooooo idea what happened when that content dropped, but it got nerfed and rebuffed a couple times throughout destiny's life
-
I guess I'm just remembering when it was dropped below light level "never to be brought back" only to come back. It was nerfed WHILE it was still relevant? I didn't remember that.
-
They either reduced how aggressive the tracking was or the actual damage of the clusters themselves, it was definitely one or the other. It's been a very long time since I've played d1.
-
They did both towards TTK release and then after it came back. It was good, but really just a shadow of itself I always felt.
