Bungie cannot fix d2. The code is so different than d1 it is impossible. They opened pandoras box and now they can not close it. Slow death is all that is left. Once again people with no business making decisions in a video game business made d2 what it is. A complete failure of epic proportions.

Edited by jcald--: 3/12/2018 7:55:03 PMDefine failure again....it was the second highest selling game of 2017, right behind another Activision title. Now if you're stating that they failed their core fanbase that's different but I'm willing to bet there are lots of dvs that would have liked to see Destiny sells.
-
It’s was second because of the bullshit they fed their player base, most of which has left and may not return, can they fix it I’m not so sure they can, they know what needs to happen but can they do it, only time will tell

*you're - ftfy ;)

Financial success based on false advertising is not a good business model. Sure they made money right? But at the cost of their reputation and future. I dont see that as successful. This one decision could doom their future.
-
Once again, what false advertising? They were more open and transparent about D2 release than any other time I remember. Are you talking about the false hype built by the community?
-
I think you mean the false hype built up by bungie, did you even watch the E3 reveal or any of the twitch streams involving smith, Wiez, deej and noseworthy, there’s actually a funny YouTube pisstake about loot and the false promises they made to overhype this dogturd

The game is a failure. You are talking about sales but Destiny 2 sales were sold on lies and people were duped into buying it off of the success of D1 thinking they were getting more of the same. I bet you if people knew what they know now, it would have been a failure in sales too.
-
D1 had roughly 1 million daily log ins. D2 sold roughly 8 million units, your theory doesn't add up. Plus what lies was it sold on? Every article and interview I watched told me exactly what I was getting.
-
I didn’t see anything advertising dogshite which is what I got
-
In D1's first month it sold 6.3 million units and amassed 20 million players. Are you going to tell me D2 has 20 million players? Im not saying D2 is a failure as its not in terms of sales with other game titles so I do agree with you, but it is a failure overall.
-
I think they hit over thirty million "registered accounts" at one point, but only had a million tracked players daily. That percentage of daily players is much lower than D2's daily percentage. I'm not even comparing games here, I'm simply saying that D2 was the number one selling game of there year until CoD launched....that isn't a failure.
-
Indeed it's not.

Destiny 2 sold on the preface that a lot of people would get something transitive to Destiny 1 at the end of year 3. The dust settled after a couple of weeks and people began to see what the game really was. It does not matter how a game sells. If the core fan base of the game is ripped apart there is no future for that game. By no means did Destiny 2 fail from a sales perspective. But the game was definitely sold on a preface of lies. 1). New Engine. Lie. 2). A Ton of loot. Lie. 3). So much story. Lie. Plenty upon plenty of lies and reasons this game did not live up to what the makers of the game hyped it up to be. I'm not saying you're incorrect for stating it was not a failure. Again from a sales perspective it definitely was not. But on the frontier of providing a satisfying and consistent experience. No. -blam!- no. This game tanked. We'll see how it goes.
-
If you're just talking about our weapons or armor, then you are incorrect. we have more loot than in D1, but the static rolls make it feel like there isn't more.
