How come Saint-14's helmet now no longer has a dent in it?
In Destiny 1 Saint-14's Helm was featured to have a giant dent in the right side of it. Left from the point of impact from when he headbutted a Kell so hard its head exploded. We also found out in Destiny 1 Grimor that Saint-14 was the Speakers Son, along with the fact that he was an legendary Exo Bubble Titan. , who left the tower to aid Osiris on Mercury because the Vanguard and Tower refused to lend aid since Osiris' exile.

But in Destiny 2 upon the release of Curse of Osiris, We now get a new version of the exo's legendary helm. But this time the dent has been removed and its Lore is just a transcript from a transmission found between Cayde-6 and Shaxx. Gossiping about his existence and personality glossing over most of the Lore from D1. Also in the new DLC we receive word that Saint-14 is lost somewhere in the infinite Forrest on mercury. a quest you get while doing the Prophecies on Mercury. This one being titled the Lost Prophecy which unlocks his legendary shotgun named the Perfect Paradox. [spoiler]During this mission you end up discovering his floating lifeless body in a room filled with the corpses of thousands of Vex. With no Helmet on. Your ghost implies that before he was reactivated by you that he once belonged to a once great Guardian. So your ghost is actually that of Saint-14's too. But, it begs the question if you find the dead Saint-14's body with no helmet on and no ones seen or heard from Saint-14 since Osiris' disappearance. How did Xur acquire the helm. And how rude of someone to jack the helm of a slain guardian. Also, cant he just be rebooted again for the 15th time since as you find out from a scanable in the tower that all exo's that have a number following their name is the number of reboots they have gone through. Since becoming an Exo after shedding their human forms.[/spoiler]
Anyways, I just am curious to see if the lore had maybe changed from D1 to D2 or if that in D2 its the version of the Helm from what i mentioned in the spoiler. and D1 was the Helm he left at the tower for the speaker when he took off to mercury to aid osiris. If anyone else has any theories i'd be all ears because Saint-14 is my favorite character in the destiny series by far.

A) bungie dev who made new helmet didn't notice said detail as it didn't have significance or b) spooky vex tech giving you the before it was dented helmet or a simulated helmet

3 RepliesOur Ghost was never Saint's. He said he knew him and had met him, not that he had belonged to him. Major difference. Speaker and Saint's use of terms of father and son doesn’t mean Saint was actually his adopted kid or anything. Saint referred to Osiris as brother as well, back before all that conflict. It was more of a weird sign of respect. The lore tab on Saint's Helm is clearly more important than you realize. It’s not "just" Cayde and Shaxx making references to D1. As Saint's ship's lore tab and the Perfect Paradox lore tab all indicate: there’s some weird paradoxical time travel shit. Saint repeatedly makes reference to how he was inspired by one guardian. That’s us. That new recruit from Old Russia who they jokingly called Crota's End. That’s us, damnit. We are Saint's inspiration, before we even existed. We gave him his shotgun and he held on to it so he could give it back to us in CoO. That is the paradox referenced in its name. It’s impossible but it still somehow is the case. How does Xur have the Helm? I don’t know, how do you think he has other unique exotics? Do you think he literally pulled Thorn off the corpse of Dredgen Yor in D1? Related question, how do you think people all have identical replicas of these unique weapons? Engrams. That’s literally how they work. Engrams have data that can be decrypted into items, including unique exotic weapons. We're not actually using the original MIDA Multi-Tool, for example. We're using a perfect copy. Same goes for Xur probably. He just happens to have the engrams for those special items that week.

I wasn't disappointed.[/quote] First, you don't reactivate your Ghost. Your Ghost reactivates you. Second, Ghost says that Saint-14 was a Guardian when he met him, so that means that Saint already had a Ghost. Exo are created from humans, as we learn from Cayde-6, and die just like them, as we learn from Eriana-3, Felwinter, and as we now know, Saint-14. All 3 gone, but Saint may return due to some time hijinks with the Vex. But, they're dead, and we know that without your Ghost, you won't come back. Based on heroes like Felwinter never being fixed we can kind of tell that this type of restoration without a Ghost just isn't possible.

We didn't find out he was the Speaker's son, just that they were close enough to call each other Father and Son. Knowing them, it's more likely a religious use of the terms.

3 RepliesI could swear that the lore on Saint 14's Pigeon (exotic ship) implied that Saint 14 was Osiris's son. Saint 14 sent his ship to Osiris with a letter that included the word "father." Maybe I'm remembering wrong because I'm hungry.

We can find the helmet outside of the IF, so that could mean he left his helmet on the outside of the IF before he went in. Or perhaps it could have something to do with him having a “perfect paradox”.
