I don’t give a rats ass about balance

Would you rather playa game where every gun is virtually identical, with a few guns that are marginally better then the rest, or absolutely destroy everyone with unique and weapons that are better than the rest because you grinded for a god roll? It seems like Bungie tried so hard to make destiny two esports bait, and didn’t make any guns better than the rest. If any were, they were nerfed. That is incredibly boring. I want to have fun again. • Right. Don't ever, ever, ever mention a good weapon on this website because they will instantly nerf it if they think players are having fun. Some weapons are identical, including the special ones that come from faction events. Bungie just changes the name and the color, but if you compare the stats they are exactly the same. New Monarchy wanted 50,000 glimmer for an auto rifle identical to a random blue roll that I already trashed ten times.

          • I find it refreshing to be able to use many different weapons in PVP. They did a great job with each weapon type having its niche and even the subtypes are fleshed out fairly well. I get where the PVE crowd is coming from, as the new Kinetic/Energy/Power system does tone them. I think if Destiny 1 launched with this system....it would have been better in the long run. Only reason most people are complaining is because they know what they are missing.

            • The complainers about things being OP in Destiny 1 were in the minority, and the complainers about everything being weak/balanced in Destiny 2 are the majority. People hate this fact for some reason, but I couldn't care less. I used a variety of primary weapons most of the time, a piddly little sidearm before they were the new thing to hate on for my secondary, and a machine gun for my heavy while most I saw were using rocket launchers. I never had much of a problem unless it was a tiny map like Asylum with a 5-6 stack. Balance wasn't much of an issue for me, then again, I didn't care for the "competitive" side of the game, I just stuck to 6v6 most of the time and had fun. Bungie swapped fun in order to balance the game around clans and teamwork, and as far as I am concerned it was one of their biggest mistakes in Destiny 2. Wanting people to huddle up and team shoot in PvP is bad enough, but affecting PvE as well is a terrible move. There is no individuality in this game, and to me that makes it incredibly boring.

              • Their insistence of across the board gear (PvP and PvE together) was the worst dogmatic objective of the game’s development. Cuts down on dev time but god is it awful to play. PvP nerfs have severely damaged PvE gameplay throughout D1 and now D2.

[/quote] You know there IS an inbetween, right?... BOTH extremes you just mentioned are absolutely terrible ideas. Having a game with identical weapons is dull, and having a game where people grind for the best weapons and literally crush anyone who hasn't had the same lucky godroll is stupid. Sure, make the better weapons do more damage to AI in PVE, idc, but if PVP is just filled with only people who managed to get good god rolls then that's dull as f***

                • Just here to remind everyone that halo has lasted for almost 20 years And before you go, "hurr durr halo is dead" Keep in mind halo 5 damn near outsold D2 despite it being on a single console. And as of last year had 16.5 million registered players (this does count times when the game was free to play and the free to play forge mode on PC) Its also been recorded as having some of the best player and player retention numbers of any halo game in the last decade

                • Crude, but dead on. PvP balance and casual friendliness, between the two of them, have pretty much trashed D2.

                • Remember the Bungie Defense Force during the Beta where they defended the lame team shotting and weapon balance as Bungie's go at esport and they backed that fully. lol and this game somehow found a way to be even less esport worthy of catching interest. We got a lose lose situation because the BDF were too damn proud to critise a very revealing beta and decided to support what we have now.

                • The problem with this argument is that the definition of "god rolls" are "a few guns that are marginally better than the rest." It's wasn't a bigger loot pool, just one filled with more bad options. D2 still has above-average weapons, they're just bounded by archetype rather than "broken" (well, except Uriel's/Omolon 450 Autos). That's why metas exist. (Personally, I'd rather see weapons reigned into their roles so ALL weapons do what they're supposed to, and if people are dumb enough to engage a Scout with an Auto at range they should have to suffer the consequences; same with MIDA users trying to play CQ, they should get lit up for using the wrong gun in the wrong situation - THAT is how to make combat unique, nothing to do with god-rolls.) In D1, everyone grinded for THE SAME god-roll (or a very small handful of variants), and some people simply didn't have enough time to "get them all" (or, in many's case, time had nothing to do with it - there were 5,000-hour players with bad luck/RNG who put in the time and still got jilted). So in D2, popular/good "rolls" were built into the base weapons, with more than enough variety to suit every player's tastes - still requires RNG to get the gun, but there are fewer "bad" builds floating around. Personally, I find D2 less boring than D1 - I play for the gameplay, not the loot, so D1's method of dropping 499 bad rolls for every good one just meant a lot of players were using sub-par weapons most of the time, getting their hopes up just to be let down, all while doing the same thing over and over again (e.g. Omnigul 30 times a night for a month straight). D2's method makes the "loot grind" slightly less random, and allows players to actually use they gun they want instead of spending 3 years looking for it.

I'd rather play a game where all weapons were not only equal, but identical. That is, as far as PvP is concerned. Such is not a new concept and many competitive (PvP) games have been designed that way. However, PvE content should be unrestricted. I want those with 'god rolls' on my fireteam since they're assets, not opponents. That is why PvE and PvP need to be separated since they are fundamentally different games.

THAT IS NOT BALANCE IT'S JUST ANNOYING AND NO SKILL BEING SHOTGUNNED IS MUCH BETTER THAN THAT BULLSHITT.

                        • Both options sound equally awful... but I do believe that PvP should be balanced separately. I think it’s too late into the franchise to just straight up ignore PvP while balancing, since some people have actually grown to like it, but it’s without a doubt bringing PvE down with it in this current system.

                        • Balance applies to PvE as well as PvP, but in a different way. It's the concept that nothing can be too good, or it becaomes a have / have not scenario. You have to have comparable strengths and weaknesses in the weapons to make them all have a place, and encourage using more than simply the -best- one all the time. It's a much broader concept, but it's still required to a degree. The biggest issue for me is a combo of the weapon design and the fixed rolls. Without question, the best primary-ish gun is a 450 AR; it might not always be the most damaging, but it is relatively good at doing everything, at almost every range. Even if another gun is slightly better (like the 600 RPM ARs), the easy of use, and 50/50 crit requirement for optimal TTK, or ease of mob crits for max DPS makes them a no-brainer choice. Combine that with the static roll system, and there is realistically only 2 -best guns- the kinetic version, and the energy version. So everything else is harder to use, has less range, needs more crits, or isn't as flexible. You literally aren't being given any choices. All of the guns are like this. There are a few minor choice points, and everything else is just meaningless stuff you happen to collect. but we have been funneled into only using one or two weapons, realistically, and it's not fun or free.

                        • It's not that balance is bad, it's that Bungie is inapt at it. They let balancing get in the way of creativity and thus stifling any sense of uniqueness weapons could have. Bungie also seems obsessed with forcing us to play only "the way they want us to", meaning that we will never feel as strong as we are.

                          • You look at the 15 pages of complaints in the feedback section and there is a realization that most of these things would not be a problem if they just made the game they said did. Seriously, if the game had the scale of what they promised, it's player base would not be falling off a cliff so soon. Imagine if Destiny 2 included the planets from Destiny 1. That would have extended the storyline, with a greater build up to the end, as well as opened up more playable content. We could have picked things up of how Mars or the Moon have changed since we last saw them in Destiny 1. We could have seen more of the New Fallen Faction waging war against the other races. Also it would be a big bonus point for the sequel to have more worlds than its predecessor and its DLCs combined.
