I have put a lot of playtime in Crimson Doubles playlist, you can check my stats, here is my feedback: Number one, above everything else: DO SOMETHING ABOUT MATCHING PARTIES WITH SOLO PLAYERS! This is the most frustrating, the most game-breaking thing in D2 PvP. Absence of any skill-based matchmaking makes it even worse for both solo players and parties: solo players suffer the most as they have to play game where they will lose, no matter how hard they try, and they can see it so they quit playing or quit trying and just grind for engrams. Only the most relentless people stay, but still, they don't improve when they play because parties of 2 will turn every encounter into 2v1 with the magic of communication and cooperation that solo players don't have, because of Bungie's decision to make voice communication of solo players as hard and as counter-intuitive as possible. Call of Duty used to not allow being in a console voice chat party while playing Search and Destroy so everyone would at least listen. CS GO on XBLA disallowed hiding in console voice chat parties while playing matchmaking. People had to communicate and that (also skill-based MM) is exactly why they could be matched against a stack and still don't feel like there is nothing they could do against it! When everyone is forced to be in the same voice channel something magical could happen: team play in a team based game, imagine that! People could also share their experience, good loadouts and strategies. It also creates many unforgettable moments like full teams singing during the game, great friendships and fun insight into foreign languages and cultures. It breaks the monotony, it makes losing less painful and frustrating, it makes social game social again. It connects different people from all over the world, people with the same interest, just like in Halo 2, remember that, Bungie? Halo 2 and Halo 3 were so cool because there was always real people talking to each other in a lobby! Before voice chat parties came to consoles, before multiplayer games became lonely and asocial. Bungie state in Guided games description that people need to communicate in Raids and Nightfalls, they try to force communication in these activities, but they don't do that in most demanding, most team based activity: The Crucible. I don't know why they contradict themselves like that. Then there is absence of skill-based matchmaking. Games are all about the challenge and getting better, especially team-based games where skilled individual can barely do anything without equally skilled teammates. Lack of skill-based matchmaking breaks this game PvP on many levels and also creates incredibly toxic environment. Good players playing solo are forced to play games that they cannot win, what is the point of trying when you can clearly see that you have no chance to win this match? Parties are forced to play games that they cannot lose, only in the rare occasion when one party matches another there could be a sweaty, equal match, but many parties just quit in this scenario, because they will lose their good stats that they got from destroying solo players way below their skill level, or maybe because they feel uncomfortable that they might actually lose after so many easy rigged wins. It is disgusting and horrible. It is exactly like bulling: beating someone who cannot fight back. I just can't believe how crazy it is: Bungie tries their hardest to stop strangers from communicating with voice in their game, because someone might bully someone. It's like making dates illegal because somebody, somewhere can have bad experience. But their matchmaking is configured in such way, that basically we have "Bullying or getting Bullied The Game" instead of competitive multiplayer with equal matches, we have matches that are so obviously rigged to be won or lost, instentional or not, this is bad.
