Due to the Crimson Days event coming to an end, a thought came into my mind. "What if two guardians had a child?" I'm not discussing the possibilities of procreation, but rather the effects on the child.
A guardian is a warrior chosen by their ability to wield the light. Since none of our characters remember any previous experience with the traveler before they were revived, I believe we can safely assume that the ability to wield the light is genetic. If this is true, then genetics dictates that two light weilding guardian parents would always lead to having a light weilding offspring.
With this, I also ask how the young child would harness the light. I get that a guardian needs a ghost to exhibit actions fueled by the light, but would it be possible that a child with this attunement to the light, paired with the awakening of the traveler, have the ability to access the light. Those actions resembling Harry Potter before he attended Hogwarts.
Another question I have is if a child of a guardian could possibly inherit a parents ghost upon the parent's death. The only thing I can compare this to is Jaren Ward. Due to close personality traits and a long time with his master, Jaren inherited his master's ghost. Would this work the same way with a child of a guardian?
This was just some food for thought and I would love to hear what you giys all think!
Edit: Wow! I did not think I would start such a discussion. I feel like we need to get Cozmo in here, since he has experience making kinderguardians.

13 RepliesLord shax would have to commentary the birth.

I feel like due to the whole resurrection process Guardians are probably infertile?

1 ReplyI'd be more interested in the actual humping than the result. Just imagine some of the crazy magical shit that might go down.....

1 ReplyDont worry. Bungie neutered everything.

12 RepliesSweet exo babies! How would that work?

Dude the last thing we need is infant and toddler guardians around -blam!-ing up everything around them when throwing tantrums. Just the titan smash alone would make me want to exile them all to IO (-blam!- you asher)
-
If it was genetic, your entire familie tree should have been chose by the light, which is not the case. So no
-
As far as the ghost goes how would they inherit a ghost when we never die?
-
Seeing that a third of us are exos...who knows?

2 RepliesSMHHHH I MADE THIS TOPIC FIRST!!!!!!!!!

It would be in development for a looooooong time

Not even sure if guardians can mate we are after all reanimated and technically immortal while we have our ghosts. Not even sure if we age like regular humans.

4 RepliesBefore I scroll down to read the comments on this (which I won’t, waste of time) I just have to say: Cayde has a son. If he has a son, well he obviously has a wife somewhere. This is specially stated in his little pieces of his old journal. His son’s name is Ace, which I just wanted to point out is totally awesome. And for some strange reason, I have an odd feeling that his wife may be Awoken. Cayde used to be human. And now that you say all of that I now know even better that the Traveler is evil. It wiped everyone’s memory my killing them using its former slaves, the Eliksni.

Technically, you can’t die as long as your ghost is around. As far as light goes I don’t thing to be genetic because we can only harness the light through the traveler as Gaul has proven. A ghost has to search for the right person to be its guardian I believe as well. Reproduction is always a possibility though but guardian babies would have to be the product of a ghosts choice as all ghosts are made by the traveler.

3 RepliesEdited by IgnotusSPARTAN: 2/20/2018 7:51:41 AMI Don't think light is genetic. If Gaul took our light, it would not be genetic. Gaul would essentially have to alter our genes to take our light if that was the case. However, if the traveler granted light to the parents, it was probably because of their "righteous" personality. So, the child's personality will naturally be similar to his parents. So maybe the traveler would grant the light once he/she was of age? Of course, there's a bit of a dice roll when it comes to the dominant genes. EDIT: how would a guardian kiddo get a ghost?! These things aren't manufactured, and are used to " channel" the light to guardians. Odd. Who knows.

4 RepliesGuardian: “Go clean your room.” Kid Guardian: “I’m watching TV.” Guardian: “I said clean your room. It’s a huge mess.” Kid Guardian: “I’m watching TV. My room is fine. Leave me alone.” Guardian: Grabs remote control and turns off the TV. “Your Room!” Kid Guardian: “I hate you! You’re always mean to me!” Throws Nova Bomb, blowing up the TV, the back of the house and part of the kitchen. Guardian: “That’s it. When your dad gets home from killing Oryx you’re going to be in so much trouble!” Kid Guardian: “I won’t go to my room!” Guardian: “You’ll go to your room or I’m taking away your sparrow.” Kid Guardian: “You can’t take away my sparrow - I can’t go to my room!” Guardian: “What do you mean you can’t go to your room?” Kid Guardian: “It was at the back of the house.”

Guardians are essentially zombies. Have you SEEN Dawn of the Dead? Breeding zombies never ends well.

2 RepliesI think every death would terminate the pregnancy.

If all reproductive organs and fluids were infused with light, would that be (or be interpreted as) some form of divine conception? Child of light? Wait...is that weird 2001 Space Odyssey baby what's inside the Traveler? Would the baby just be a monolith in diapers?

Guardians are dead. Dead cells can’t creat life. (Haha ok this can go so many ways but I’m sticking to my zombie theory!)

How much would it cost for someone to make a small comic strip about baby guardians?

Now I just imagine a bunch of human, awoken, and exo children going on make believe adventures. Guardian Babies, we make our dreams come true~
