Seriously though?
I’m not saying I’m a MHW god or anything but Teostra imo is one of the easier elder dragons. Why is it when I respond to SOS beacons for this dude, teams get absolutely roflstomped by him?
I’ve found a good way to keep the pressure on Teostra is to kite him then go in after his hyper explosion Death Star of doom attack.
I’ve watched too many peeps try and attack him while he’s clearly about to do his ult only for them to be atomized in the explosion.
I guess it’s gonna be me and my palico taking him on to get my Kaiser set.

If I had to guess, they get greedy with their attacks and are animation locked into the hitbox of his super nova, common mistake among newer players

My knowledge is from MHFreedom Unite, but my guess is the damage aura it has. If you have "Terrain Damage Half" its less of a pain, and "Terrain damage negate" nullifies its aura completely for you. Basarios set has the former, and Kushala Daora armor has the latter. Again, this is from MHFU, not sure how things are in World.

Yes, in my experience it is usualy easier to solo the elder dragons, only downside is that you often get less breaks. But yes people faint way to often to easy telegraphed attacks. I don't mind too much though, fainting is part of the game and I can't blame anyone because it occasionaly happens to me as well.

2 RepliesBecause people don't know the glory of flash pods. seriously they're OP. Teostra is my favorite elder dragon to fight honestly. Nerg is next. Daora is just annoying. and vaal is a push over. I don't count unicorn boi as an elder dragon and xeno struggles from the same problem any game does when they make a giant monster too big for it's own good. Annoying solo. push over in groups.

4 RepliesI've been facing them since the Freedom Unite days. Never really had a problem with it. Although I'll admit a tempered Teostra is an interesting fight. It's surprising just how much that move is telegraphed. People are clearly not paying attention to him and care more about dealing damage. In my group that s--t would be unacceptable. And why doesn't anyone just use flashpods? Using them essentially negates the move and takes him out of rage mode. Makes it that much easier.

Just killed my first tempered teostra last night. Compared to the other 3, he's undeniably the hardest just because he's incredibly aggressive, has the constant burn damage when on fire, and has a large range of explosive AOE moves. Not to mention half the fight zones will be super hot (cool drinks), and you can get blast blight. Not super hard himself, but the others are a cakewalk compared to him, especially tempered Vaal and Nerg.

was the hardest for me. beat the other 2 from the assigned quest without carting once. what made me hate teostra was his weird explosion attack. hit me quite some times when i was stunned or on the ground and could therefor not move out of the zone. also what really annoyed me was his tail attack. no idea what triggers it but a lot of times i was infront of him, saw him starting an animation and rolling to his back only to find out that he made his tail attack. whyyy?

He was arguably the easiest once I got his moveset down. I just used Crystalbursts on him whenever he used the supernova (at least if I wasn't out of the radius)

Edited by SinisterSmile: 2/19/2018 9:18:18 PMYou flash him, use crystal bursts, or do your -blam!- this shit jump. I do agree though, I have jumped into S.O.S. With Teostra and have that attack would usually take out 1-2 diminishing our chances to 1. Without a doubt. I will admit I have been caught in it once or twice, but was able to withstand it with my armor. I try to keep things in my launcher that will flinch it for this very reason.

Meh....inexperience, stupidity, getting greedy on hits, or just bad builds/weapon match ups. I've had a few times where I forgot to swap my armor or decorations not thinking about what I was doing. Turned me into a one shot.

Well if you don't bother stocking cool drink I can see how people struggle.
-
1 ReplyI don't understand people getting killed by his super nova. I usually see people die more by enviromental hazards than Teostra himself.
-
2 RepliesAll the elder dragons I manage to kill first try...except nergigante... god even Val jazzman was pretty easy once I figured out his attacks and what caused my health to be halved. I still have difficulty with nergigante even now and I have to farm him for my gun lance.

1 ReplyTeostra was one of the easiest to fight, but he was the most fun to fight imo as well. Idk how people get hit by that giant explosion, though. You get so many signals, especially the fact that he's curled up in the air, is absorbing fire, and definitely looks and sounds like he's about to explode.

2 RepliesI feel the same way. My SOS responses either get a bunch of braindead idiots, or vets. Usually I try to pick one with at least somebody higher, instead of HR 14s. But yeah, solo'd all 4 high elders, and I can say it is much easier...

2 RepliesEasy as hell for a bow user. Stay at his side and pepper him, no dragon piercers. His ult doesn’t even come close to hitting you.
