Imagine if it was a group of gun wielding men... Death tolls would be much higher...
I own several guns.
• If one person in that crowd had a gun, they could have killed the attackers.

  • You mean like they did in Vegas?

  • That was a different situation entirely. The Vegas shooter had an excellent vantage point, atop the balcony of a hotel, and was shooting down into a mostly flat plain with virtually no cover. Also, the Vegas shooter used an illegally modded AR-15.

  • Who says those people couldn’t get the same advantage as him if they had access to guns. Your logic is pretty flawed.

  • In total, he had 23 different guns. Of those, many were illegally modded AR-15s.

  • Aren’t bump stocks illegal to add to your gun? I know you can own them, but are you allowed to fit them on to a gun?
Aren’t bump stocks illegal to add to your gun? I know you can own them, but are you allowed to fit them on to a gun?
Yes they can be attached to your gun. They were designed and marketed to people with hand injuries so they can shoot without gripping their finger. Edit: without the repetitive motion of their finger is what I should say. Edit 2: I’d like to add that this is how it’s viewed federally, not by state. But I think Cali bans them outright and in NY you can own them but not attach them to your weapon so you’re right about that but only in New York. I don’t think they are regulated in Nevada though.

  • Did you catch my edits? I was thinking federally, however it does vary by state.

  • Don't see how it makes a difference. Most of these mass shootings dont end with a civilian usin his gun to take out the gunman. Most of the others I could list ended no different either.

  • You mean a bunch of criminals having guns shooting at people despite having gun control what a shocker. By the way owning guns doesn’t give you more credit to your statements

Odd most of our recent shootings were by law abiding citizens. Most were on antidepressants. I’m didn’t say I’m calling for more gun control. But let’s not be ignorant on the subject. Guns don’t kill people, but they sure do make it a lot easier. Far to often they legally fall in to the hands of the clinically depressed. There is a pretty direct correlation between SSRI medications and mass shootings. How many mass shootings did we have before the 90’s? Before these medications became popular and pushed out for profit? As a society we tend to push away people with problems. We need to change our culture. We need to change the legal drug problem we have in America. We need to change the fact that guns can easily be obtained by people with clinical mental problems.

  •
Odd most of our recent shootings were by law abiding citizens.
The church shooter wasn’t reported to the FBI by the Air Force. He should never have been able to buy a gun. The Florida guy was reported to the FBI, and they did nothing about it when clearly they should have. The FBI and the Air Force dropped the ball on those 2. However I do agree that SSRIs should be examined as a possible contributing factor.

  • So what you really want is mental health reform on top of the gun laws we already have. But let’s not forget the topic of the thread is a group of armed criminals killed a lot of people. If we don’t want to be ignorant then saying throwing more laws that they would have obviously ignored. Now if you want to talk about mental health that’s one thing, but if you want to interject a new situation you just can’t change it.
