Not very fun. Hunters are totally broken for 2v2. Golden gun lasts too long, they can go invisible and run away when they can't win, and they are everywhere. Time to kill is too slow to have any real effect of standing a chance on your own when it comes to that, which it does often. Making progress for going 1/5 doesn't feel very good. Here's your pittance for going through such an ordeal. Okay, that first part was pretty rage induced. Here's my more calmed down, thought out opinion. It's still harsh. In the current state of the Crucible, 2v2 has no place. This is due to one class being ultimately superior to the other two, the spawns working against you too much, the slow ttk, and matchmaking that makes no sense. I shall elaborate: Hunters. Congrats. With even fewer people, your abilities become almost god like. Unless you have a mouse and keyboard, your ability to go invisible gives you an aim assist off switch. With the sped up ability recharge, your smoke grenades can constantly leave opponents stuck in molasses. At least once, my partner and I nearly got double wiped by the golden gun. Going up against a Titan or another Warlock, I felt I had a fair shot at coming away with a win. With even just a competent Hunter aware of their class abilities, it wasn't even a fight or fun. The matchmaking was wildly inconsistent. I have only played six games so far, but out of them, one was a really close game that could have gone either way. Three games in a row my partner and I were blown out, wasn't even fun, we discussed stopping and maybe coming back later. The other two we blew the other team out. It wasn't even a contest those games. Some tweaking is definitely needed to maintain a more consistent experience, i.e. less blowouts. The spawns are also in need of looking at. For a mode that wants you to stick close to your teammate, several times I had me or my partner spawn across the map from each other. With the rounds being so short, it is a waste of time trying to get back together and continue the fight. By that time the opponents can effectively fortify themselves, and if you try going in one on two, it's sheer suicide (unless you're a Hunter. You probably could do a two on one). And finally, the TTK is still too slow for a mode like this. The maps are actually too large, in my opinion for 2v2 to not turn into a chase and shoot sort of affair. Being unable to effectively defeat your opponent in a 1v1 situation leaves the opponent to much of an opportunity to run and hide. Errors in tactical judgement are too easily forgiven and when the opponent runs, catching up can sometimes be difficult. As my closing statement, Doubles has not been the most enjoyable experience so far. Without some major tweaks to the classes and mechanics, there isn't much fun to be had. If the rewards were worth chasing, I would be willing to put up with more of it, but I have no room for more ghosts and sparrows. They all get dismantled. Next time, please include something worth chasing like another armor set or even a new weapon.
