PvP Loadout and Mods Priorities?

Crucible Assumptions: 1. The goal is to win. 2. Killing opponents before they kill you (mostly) helps your team win. 3. Every player should try to optimize their loadouts to make killing opponents as easy as possible. My question: What's the best way to optimize? - Focus on killing players with guns? - Focusing on abilities / grenades? - Something else? I figured if there is a right answer, the answer is guns; specifically kinetic and energy weapons. I've focused on equipping recoil reducing mods where possible and then handling improvement mods after that. My rationale if guns have less recoil, it's easier to make opponents dead. What do people think? Gun Mods > Ability Mods?

  • I think it depends on the weapons. Some have good handling so no mod needed. Others need 3 handling mods. If the recoil isn't bad, no need for a mod. It also depends on play style. Mobility, resilience and recovery mods can make a big difference. Use blues to try different set ups and fine tune.

  • If your using a solar subclass use the arc grenades charge quicker, if your using the void subclass use the solar grenades charge quicker 👌

    • Be very very cautious of pollution and disinformation. I.E. recovery= best stat. Recovery only kicks in if resilience and mobility did it's job.

    • Counterbalance mods do not provide any benefit when used on guns with precision frame. ie Nameless Midnight, Uriel’s Gift or Positive Outlook. You’re better off getting your Recovery stat to 10 and your Resilience stat to 5+. Having a low Mobility will not hold back unless your an MLG pro. This type of build will work well in both PVE and PVP.

      • Some fairly typical bullshit responses. And that's exactly why these guys report bad results. By all means follow their advice and I'll hope to see you out there.... :-) Bottom line use what works for you. The beauty part is that's possible. There is no one right answer any longer. Varies among classes and playstyles. I main Nightstalker and run 4, 10, 1 armor most of the time. Recovery is the most overrated perk in the game. Max if you plan on being a bullet sponge. Never, ever use mods to up gun handling. Learn your weapon and MW them for slight boosts. Period. Btw, 2.81 solo.

      • depends on your play style and more importantly, what mode you're playing. if you're playing Mayhem, well all bets are off. for example, right now we have crimson doubles. my God the grenades, the smoke bombs, the invisibility!!! I'm usually more of a "kill 'em with your gun" kind of guy, but I am getting DESTROYED in this mode. doesn't matter if your recoil on Antiope is good when you can't see because of smoke, and they have a sword or colony..... but yes, normally in crucible, I stick with the gun mods over the ability ones. I use different armor for PvE where I use ability mods.
