Doubles still sucks just like it did in D1. Maps are too big for so few players. Heavy is 100% not needed and actually harms the gametype(particularly as the mechanics of crimson days requires players bunching up). Spawns are completely dumb half the time spawning a player across the map from their partner even though there are closer spawn areas, sometimes even right next to their teammate.

  • The remade D1 maps which I got for four out of the five matches I could stomach of the gametype. Both of them are meant for distance fighting and flanking which doubles is not good for and crimson day is even worse for as you’re punished for those tactics.

  • The remakes are just as large as the original maps. While the maps that aren’t remakes are smaller that’s sort of my point. The maps made for D2, not remakes of the larger D1 maps, are actually ideal but the doubles that were given seems obsessed with putting people on maps that are too large for so few players.

  • Honestly the maps feel smaller than in D1...

  • The D2 made maps feel smaller but the remade maps are just as big as the originals and it’s too big for the fact that, in my five games, they were 80% of the maps I played on. But too big of maps has been a problem since the first crimson day where bannerfall was a super common map to be put on. The smaller maps that were designed for the 4v4 of D2 are better for such a game with a total of 4 players on it.

  • The remade maps might be bigger than the maps on D2, but they are a scaled down version from d1. Burning shrine might be the same, but that map was already small to begin with. I can only think of two maps that were remade btw

  • No, they’re the same size as the originals from D2. The maps that were made for actual D2 are smaller areas and smaller than the remade maps. Doubles needs to be on maps like the felwinter’s map or the twilight gap style map. Yeah, there are only two remade maps but the point is that doubles shouldn’t be on those maps and I got them for most of my matches. The D2 maps that I did play on were better for the gametype but the matchmaking seemed to be weighted toward to two maps that are awful for it. The original doubles could be on a number of maps but when I played crimson days last time 70% of the time it was one just black site and bannerfall. Maps that arguably shouldn’t have been in that gametype and back then you weren’t punished for flanking.

  • They are the same size. The new maps are literally just realism of the maps they’re remaking. If you don’t realize that they’re the same size you’ve got a warped understanding of size.
