I want to preface my comments by saying that I typically do not enjoy PVP. I'm not particularly good at it and losing streaks frustrate me, so I usually just don't bother. I just stick to PVE and enjoy myself.
That said I thought I'd give it a try, and while I only had time for 2 matches last night it was actually pretty fun. The increased ability charge rate was a refreshing change of pace, and having the markers was useful when my opponents strayed too far from each other: even if I didn't use it to hunt and kill one of them, it told me where they were at and allowed me to maneuver accordingly. Also, having only 2 opponents to keep track of seemed to help me focus. I may not enjoy 4v4 or 6v6 combat, but 2v2 was actually kind of fun.
Burnout is a fairly small map that seems suited to 2v2 combat. It might get a bit chaotic, and/or crowded, if used for 4v4.
One change I would like to see next year though is for players to respawn at or near their partner. It'd be incredibly frustrating to lose your partner, have him spawn on the far side of the map and have no chance to regroup and disable the markers before one of you is downed again. It'd be an endless 2v1 whack-a-mole.
Im not sure how many extra spawn points you'd have to add to each map, but thats always been a gripe of mine with PVP: I have the terrible luck of being spawned as far away from my team as possible, then dying simply trying to regroup with them.
Overall though it was fairly enjoyable.

Burning Shrine would have 6v6 control and it was fine.
