In terms of the whole event, I think it's a step in the right direction. The lack of a way to buy crimson engrams definitely helps earn back some trust from the community, but its only a first step. If it continues then I think that Destiny might have a good future. The crimson doubles mode is good, but it can be improved. Mostly, a lot of people think it should have been elimination. Without elimination it just turns into camp the power ammo simulator. Besides that, the buff system works well with the aesthetics of the event and in game aswell. The decision to make crimson engrams drop with bright engrams was great. Pve players could still participate without having to play PvP so that's great. My only gripes where that loot dropped too frequently so I think the more rare drops won't be as valuable to the community. People loved weldfire from WotM not only because it looked great but because it was rare. Also the ghost shells were a little underwhelming. Maybe a chalk heart ghost or a return of the ghosts from d1 would have been nicer than just red and white ones. The exotic sparrow is my favorite sparrow in the game now though. One big problem that is the same with the dawning is the fact that I don't want to use my crimson shaders because they will run out. The red and black is one of the better shaders in D2 but I can't use it. Over all I think its a good step in the right direction. Keep up the good work guys. Edit: just realized this was about the 2v2 gamemode my bad. Still hope you see the feedback about the event as a whole.

    • I want to preface my comments by saying that I typically do not enjoy PVP. I'm not particularly good at it and losing streaks frustrate me, so I usually just don't bother. I just stick to PVE and enjoy myself. That said I thought I'd give it a try, and while I only had time for 2 matches last night it was actually pretty fun. The increased ability charge rate was a refreshing change of pace, and having the markers was useful when my opponents strayed too far from each other: even if I didn't use it to hunt and kill one of them, it told me where they were at and allowed me to maneuver accordingly. Also, having only 2 opponents to keep track of seemed to help me focus. I may not enjoy 4v4 or 6v6 combat, but 2v2 was actually kind of fun. Burnout is a fairly small map that seems suited to 2v2 combat. It might get a bit chaotic, and/or crowded, if used for 4v4. One change I would like to see next year though is for players to respawn at or near their partner. It'd be incredibly frustrating to lose your partner, have him spawn on the far side of the map and have no chance to regroup and disable the markers before one of you is downed again. It'd be an endless 2v1 whack-a-mole. Im not sure how many extra spawn points you'd have to add to each map, but thats always been a gripe of mine with PVP: I have the terrible luck of being spawned as far away from my team as possible, then dying simply trying to regroup with them. Overall though it was fairly enjoyable.

      • I'm having a load of fun with Crimson Days, surprisingly. The team dynamic is interesting, but I see a lot of people are unhappy with the... campy nature of the game mode. Yet again, we have a PvP mode where people can't either comprehend or simply refuse to play with the intended mechanics. We need something akin to rumble, or clash just to get those kinds of people out of focused game modes. One of the most refreshing things about having mayhem, banner, or doubles, is that we finally get to choose a mode we'd like to play. We need more of that. If I never play supremacy again, it will be too son. I'd like a way to avoid that garbage and play modes I actually do enjoy. As for the rewards, personally, I think there are too many garbage rewards like legendary ghosts and sparrows, that ultimately are just a silver dust farm. They all look very similar to items we've already had and sharded. A sparrow, unless it's 160 speed and insta-summon, forget about it. Ghosts... the perks are so mediocre that it's just a matter of finding one that you MIGHT get some small extra bonus that fits your playstyle. Emotes... I am a big fan of emotes, but can we get some more practical or interesting emotes instead of these obnoxious pop culture references? Also, the shaders... the box available for purchase is an amazing rip off. So watered down with shaders we've been collecting for months now. We want the new shit! One last concern, why is Doubles listed under competitive but it does not award competitive match wins towards the PvP helmet ornament? Overall, I am happy with this distraction, and look forward to more frequent live events like this. But please, don't forget about PvE events! There's so much focus on PvP in all the events we've had lately, hook us PvE players up!

Played 1 match with a stranger. IT WAS MADDENING!!!!!!!!!!!! ....all he did was constantly run out with no real strategey. Just die, respawn, and die some more. When I would very obviously make an attempt to hold down a strategic point, he would simply leave me, go out, and die. So you know guys,...don't be surprised that people are quitting. In a regular match you have a good chance out of 3 people to get decent players. In 2v2, it's one person. They could be "okay", they could be good or great, or they could flat out suck. If your up against 2 competent people... Forget about it if your partner sucks.

      • I think the NF timer was a mistake. I think it was installed bc our 2 primary PVE weapon load out is weak, requiring ads to be weak. I think the only way they felt it could be challenging was to make it a battle against a clock rather than enemies. I think they got rid of the timer because nobody was doing NFs anymore. I think installing a time mechanic tied to rewards is a mistake. I think PVE players are different than PVP players and are not interested in competing with other players. I think the Devs should have known this but are either being driven by someone from the PVP side of the house or catering to a few snow flake streamers that will make a couple vids and move onto something else. I think this game will never get better until Bungie accepts this title drew a large fan base because of the RPG PVE aspect they are trying to shed. I think the leadership at Bungie is now all about PVP and no loot could ever be worth going after again because it would offset precious PVP balance. I think I won’t be trying Crimson Days until you get some new talent at Bungie that thinks PVE should NEVER suffer due to PVP balance. It’s good to hear from you again though Cozmo, hope all is well. ✌🏼

I love playing crimson doubles this year. Crucible feels fast paced. While I do like the new buff of staying close to your partner, I wish the Broken Heart buff made a return aswell. It is a little unfair that once your partner dies, you dont get any boost to help you survive anymore, add to it that now two opponents are charging you with insanely fast ability charges and know your location. With the sandbox being heavily favored on teamshooting, most likely you will not win that battle if you dont have ability charges up. Either way, its fast paced, abilities and super recharge insanely fast, and a 1v2 is better than facing down a 1v4. Ill take it. However i will say this. Nightstalkers with Gemini Jesters to kill this game mode. Its worse than crouching to turn invisible back in d1. It becomes a ghost hunt. In a way, i feel this would be easily fixed if Gernades, Melee abilities, and supers would keep that fast recharge, but rifts, barricades, and dodges keep their abilities at the same time we have it in normal crucible. *I main a hunter, and i completely agree spamming invisibility with gemini jesters is just cheap. Thiers no honorable skill in winning a gunfight because you always have the upper edge.

      • I love the doubles match up. 2v2 is amazing in the clash round system. even if its 2v1+1 it is still a challenge and a joy to play. the timing is perfect for each round. if i had to change one thing, it would make the sudden death round the same as a normal round. i do like the rewards as well. although we were given 6 sparrows, you know people will only use the exotic ones. the ghosts are kind of meh in all honesty, but theyre still pretty. i love the heart emote. lastly, being able to earn all of the rewards so easily is awesome. i managed to get everything except the wardcliff coil skin in around 8 hours. if you are willing to put the time in, the rewards DO drop!

      • Could not play Crucible last night, but will be doing some tonight. I like that you can earn Crimson Engrams by leveling up and thru game play, however you keep adding loot to the game without the space to keep it. I know Bungie is working to improve the game, and while I like the direction you are headed, I am still mystified that the vault space cannot be addressed sooner. Ideally I think most people would like to see a significantly larger increase to vault space than the 50 slots you have allotted for the end of May. Also understanding that you have forecast more vault/kiosk/record book changes for September, until then the vault should really be large enough to hold our “collections”. Is it not as simple as adding more pages to the vault? Again I like the event and your commitment to improvement, the timeline of your roadmap just needs to be accelerated.

if there is a crimson days planned for next year, i suggest making it impossible to leave the match unless someone turns off their system, i've been in 2 situations where it was 1v2. i've been on both ends and it's completely unfair considering it's a game mode based on teamwork. the time when i was left on my own was because the enemy team were both using uriels gift, might want to think about that gun while your looking for feedback. as for rewards, it probably could've been better then numerous ghost shells and sparrows but the no duplicates before everything is obtained is great, definitely bring that into future live events.

      • Meh. Rewards are subpar, and overall, like Crucible in general, it's not fun unless you're playing with a friend. Most of the matches consist of players camping around the Power ammo crate to get ammo for their Rocket Launcher or Colony, or Striker Titans throwing wave after wave of Pulse Grenades at you. Though I did have some fun using Prometheus Lens in it, so there's that. You guys could have done better on the rewards though. The emotes and sparrows are alright, but the shaders and ghost shells are kind of horrendous. Maybe you could have used a more unique design for the Ghost Shells. Something a little more like Sagira's Ghost shell, or even the Chocolate or Crimson Ghost from D1. As for the shaders, honestly, I would have preferred the ones from D1 over these. I like the Ornaments for Sweet Business and Graviton Lance (even though that weapon is useless crap right now), but the one for Prometheus Lens; it's like you guys didn't even try with that one. Maybe you could have thrown in a Crimson Day ship, and some Crimson Day themed armor Ornaments for the Crucible, Vanguard, and Faction armor sets that we could earn during this event, or at least some for Exotic armor. The buff you get from staying with your teammate is an interesting addition. It encourages sticking together. Shame we don't have anything like that in Quickplay, where, if you're unlucky like me, you always get teammates who try to lone-wolf the entire match.

<I personally like it. Then again I only had to do 5 matches to get what I wanted. So far I like the Undeterred Sparrow (that sweet boost effect) and the Burning Shrine redux looks nice.>
<please add more stuff to the Dark Future... maybe a pyramid ship if you catch my drift>
I like it! Pretty rewarding experience I gotta say. Sandbox changes are coming and that was my only comment about the experience as a whole. Hopefully lower time to kill is coming which would make the game flow better honestly. Even in a 2v2 environment, you really can't challenge successfully without your teammate if they go down. Also, grenade spam is becoming a pretty glaring problem with this mode. Would benefit you guys and the community to look into tweaking that.

        • I usually HATE the crucible. However, win or lose I've actually been enjoying Crimson Doubles. I'm really enjoying the shorter rounds, I don't feel like I'm being instantly cut down like in 4v4. I have grenades again! When I'm cornered I can defend myself and attempt to withdraw rather than getting destroyed by more players. Admittedly I wish it was a permanent mode I could choose over other modes. There does seem to be a bit of lag and flitting around, haven't been mysteriously booted by powers unknown yet. But I'm watching for it. Overall I'm actually excited to play. I do wish there was Armor or weapons specific to the event. Is there anyway I can suggest artists off Behance for weapon designs to add some variety to the loot pool directly to Bungie? They've got some phenomenal talent.

        • Overall I like the event. TBH the abilities are really close to were they should be for normal pvp. Slow down the grenades a bit 45 seconds or so and it would be great. Radar reach on the Burn out seems good, as there are spots where you cannot be seen on radar.

        • The fast cool downs allow you to play fast and aggressive, like in D1. The heavy spawning is great for fishing out campers and make winning the first engagement of every round, pivotal. With only two players, it makes it a lot more manageable to go 1v2 and you get a lot more 1v1 engagements. The sudden death round allows for heroic/clutch moments that we've all been asking for. If these cool downs were implemented into the D2 sandbox for crucible, but scaled back to D1 cool down times. It would make 1vX's a lot more manageable and people would play a lot more aggressively, especially combined with the movement speed boost. But, all in all. This is the most fun I've had in D2 crucible, by a mile. Mayhem was OK but the supers and grenades regenerated too fast to be able to really use your guns, and the gun-play is 90% of why I play the crucible still. This cooldown in Crimson Doubles allows for a very good mix of both gun-play and abilities.
