Setting: Months after the defeat of Ghaul.
Location: Winding Cove, European Dead Zone - Earth
Heavy rain pelted the tough ground. The night sky was coated by a looming storm; lacking of any thunder that could shake the air. Water trickled down the crevices of the earth.
A couple of Risen prowled silently in the dark, tracking their enemy at a safe distance. For hours, they had been stalking the target in hopes of him leading to their main objective.
"Velxis..." Athena whispered.
The Earth-born Awoken was reluctant to respond, intensely watching her prey's every move.
The Hunter's cobalt eyes glowed, steady and still. Her white hair was plastered onto her blue skin that shimmered waves of dim illumination. Athena's sable hair lied flat over her right eye.
The tall man tilted his head down, removing his Obsidian Mind. Shortly, he just stood there; wiping grime from the visor. Tobius let out a calm sigh. His shoulders dropped like the rain above him. Dripping despair from his thoughts down to the soil he stood on.
The Titan tightened her jaw impatiently. Athena held in her emotions to herself, for she knew that wouldn't be wise against this Warlock.
"What do you hope to be rewarded, for eliminating me?" Tobius questioned.
Athena and Velxis rose from the positions to reveal themselves.
"You aren't even Saladins' dogs."
"Don't have to be. A Stoneborn's duty is to protect The City. Inside and out."
"Please. That order is extinct. Red Legion wiped your kind out days after the attack. You're just a Titan. Stop being something you're not."
Athena's fist clenched, glistening with Light.
The quiet Hunter spoke up.
"Show us to the Warlord camp, Tobius. You know we'll dust you off the territory, either way. Warlords are becoming more common again and we're going to make sure it does not become as situational as the pre-city times."
The man put his helmet back on. A mystic energy wisped out of the emptiness from the inside.
"The Red War left The City weakened. Vulnerable and exposed. You think it's strong? It's not. We'll make more use of these supplies than the Vanguard. They'll just squander into they're on the brink of death again, fearful, and panicking with there heads cut off. Do you really trust them? You heard the rumors. They are nothing without the Light. Zavala acts like a bull, anxiously ready to attack without the concern of others, Cayde is just an idiot who can't do a damn decisive action, besides being another soldier on the battlefield, and Ikora..."
His voice trailed off.
"She's nothing. She did nothing, but run to Io, and stared at her reflection on the Traveler's energy. How can you put your faith in... in those people?"
Athena did not reply. Neither did Velxis.
Rain resounded the quietude of the night.
"The camp. Show us." The Hunter murmured.
Tobius laughed dryly.
"To Hell... with all of you."
Void Light danced aggressively around the hands of the Warlord. Immediately, Athena tensed up arms, thrusting a wall of sturdy Light between her and her enemy.
"Get down!" Velxis shouted.
From the grips of the Warlock, a hissing violet energy left his grasps. The Vortex Grenade pounded against the Barricade, cracking it in seconds.
The Hunter drew her Hand Cannon out, firing shots at Tobius. He sprinted to cover, finding cover behind a boulder. The gun flashed, lighting up the night everytime she pulled the trigger.
The Warlord returned fire with an infamous pulse rifile, spattered with human blood on the bayonet and black surface.
Athena rushed by the broken Barricade to aid her ally. Reeling back her fist, the Titan struck the boulder with massive strength.
Loudly, the large rock crumbled into rubble.
However, the Warlock was absent.
The moment Athena took her fist back, a purple light lit up the darkness before her. Above her, Tobius held a Lance of hungering Void Light, dazzling with a powerful radiance. In quick response, Athena summoned a Sentinel Shield to brace for the devasting impact. The Warlord unleashed his wrath, shattering the resilient shield completely.
Fortunately, her Light was sufficient enough to leave her in one piece.
The moment the Warlock landed, an Arc Staff impaled his chest. A deathly wheeze escaped his dying lips.
Behind him, Velxis sparked with electricity. Her unflustered expression was as disturbing as ever. She slid her spear out forcefully from his wound. Tobius' lifeless body collapsed on to the wet ground.
The two Guardians paused for a moment.
They exchanged a look of sorrow between each other.
After a minute, a Ghost materialized from the corpse's pocket. Velxis put a bullet through it before he could revive the Warlord.
Athena got up back on her feet. Ghosts from their pockets recovered their minor wounds with Light.
The two moved on, having no choice but to feel the unbearable bitterness to truly kill one another.
Edit: If I ever make future fanfiction post, I'll post it in the right category in gallery/community instead of Lore. My apologies and thank you for those who still read!

2 RepliesDang when you said risen I got real exited thinking this was pre-tower days. Also why does the hunter have a fallen name? Interesting and hope to see more!

1 ReplyThe canon in this is weird. You are citing the red war and they diss the vanguard, but yet all three have powers. Can you clarify when this is meant to take place. The fact that you called Tobias a warlord and the other two where called risen generally associated with pre-city age. If you are going to continue please make it lore accurate. Though it is very good.

2 RepliesNice writing. There’s a lot of this fanfic around here at the moment. But it all mostly lacks a sense of emotion and pacing in the dialogue, and a certain naturalness that can help it read abit better As an example, I’ve taken a section of your dialogue to illustrate this. It’s something to bear in mind. Below is your original text in italics, then my spin.... ”The Red War left The City weakened. Zavala acts like a bull, anxiously ready to attack without the concern of others, Cayde is just an idiot who can't do a damn decisive action, besides being another soldier on the battlefield, and Ikora..." “The Red War - it left The City weak. Vulnerable. Exposed...You think it’s strong? Well, it’s not. We’ll make use of these supplies - more than the Vanguard! They’ll just squander it until they’re on the brink of death again, fearful and panicking with their heads cut off! So, can you really trust them? In your heart, can you? You know the rumours. They are nothing without the Light. Zavala, he acts like a bull, anxious to attack without any concern for others. Cayde..? Well, he’s merely an idiot - an idiot who can’t make a decisive action besides being just another soldier on the battlefield...”

1 ReplyPretty interesting story. I'm wondering where you're gonna take this. Got a masterpost of these, or at least links to the others? Also:
Reeling back her fist, the Titan striked the boulder with massive strength.
Striked should be struck.

This takes place after the Red War, if anyone wondered the plot.
