I don't get it. I'm not a hard core gamer or a YouTube creator so I guess I don't see what everyone hates about this game.
My only beef is that I'd like more content. Well that and the fact that I hate Titans.

I played alot of d1, and i really like the game. I personally have no problem with d2. It is a new experience. But its my opinion, others may not agree. So if you enjoy it, enjoy it. Dont ask others because its there opinion, not yours.

That's easy. A lot of players sunk much of their time into Destiny 1 over a 3 year period. Then comes Destiny 2 and it's a game not designed for them. Funny, how Bungie never mentioned that. So, the player base mostly felt betrayed. Not only that, the game regressed. Instead of progressing after 3 years, the game went backwards and took out many popular features that Destiny 1 had. Then they doubled down on micro transactions. So, it's pretty easy to see why they lost 80% of their player base in a few months. The only players that will be happy with this game are the newbies. The problem is, there's not enough content to keep that casual players happy for long either. My daughter played it for about 2-3 weeks, and she was done.

Some people sell their souls to this game and do nothing but play the game. There were a lot of systems in destiny 1 that allowed this to be possible. Random rolls on weapons allowed you to grind endlessly for “the next god roll” or “optimized weapon roll”. There were so many more pvp modes that were more fun than the 5 we have now. The weapon system was different and allowed for a more “powerful” and less tactical team-based combat which is what most pvp-ers prefer, and most special weapons could one-shot enemies allowing you the chance to get out of sticky situations that you can’t get out of in destiny 1. In d2, if you’re screwed, you run away. In destiny 1, if you’re screwed, you can hide behind something and shotgun the guy(s) chasing you down. In d1, the only way to get to max light was playing endgame content like raids, trials, and iron banner. This made completing endgame activities feel more exclusive and let everyone know you were a badass. In destiny 2, any 335 power guardian could be a noob, but you might not know it. They could’ve just done milestones or gotten clan rewards over and over. It takes the glory out of being a hardcore gamer. There is less to show for your accomplishments. These are the things that changed. Along with gameplay speed and ability recharge rate, and the ability to spec perks towards affecting your abilities and recharge rates. Hope this answers you question.

1 ReplyHow many hours did you put into Destiny?

I love this game. There just needs to be more of it. And I think Bungie is working on it. It just can't come soon enough.

1 ReplyWell, you obviously did not get caught up in all of the misleading marketing of the game. Back in 2013 and 2014, Destiny promised to be a FPS MORPG. Unfortunately, Bungie started moving away from that vision with HoW (that's when I first became aware). Weapon tuning and balancing (nerfs, nerfs, and more nerfs) seemed to favor the FPS crowd well over the RPG crowd. Seeing as the market deems PvP and competition to be necessary components of the FPS genre, further updates and features were biased toward those modes. PvP and competition are not at all necessary components of the RPG genre and are usually secondary features contrary to being primary features in the FPS genre. The reason I differentiate competition and PvP is because some players exhibited competitive behaviour outside of PvP activities. Players complained and still complain about others exploiting AI behaviour in PvE activities. My only explanation for this behaviour is the complaining player is extremely competitive. Though this is anecdotal and possibly even confirmation bias, such players tend to frequent PvP activities, especially Trials. Although Destiny was marketed to be an FPS MORPG with PvP as a secondary feature, Bungie delivered a PvP FPS with RPG elements as a secondary feature. I've all but completely abandoned the game. I have not played since mid October though I still frequent the forums. I've been happily exploring the Commonwealth Wastes and Tamriel in my absence from Destiny. Both offering a much more satisfying RPG experience than Destiny ever would, and sadly, it likely ever will.

2 RepliesEdited by Aiden985: 2/11/2018 1:13:02 PMIt became too easy to level up Easier to get legendaries and exotics (People in D1 complaint about it being to hard so those people kicked themselves for that one) No reason to do challenging activities No special rewards for doing challenging activities Strikes are less involved with the story for the main game seem like they are setting up a later story (More on this later) People are mad because they can't use snipers/shotguns/fusions as a secondary (this was what energy weapons were previously basically) No game type selections, free for all, and no 6v6 playlists Token system (Because the game relies too much on it which they are planning to change) Simplified class system No random rolls or interesting perks on weapons and armor (Masterworks are meh) The lore may be in game but nothing to keep track of it (Grimoire cards from D1) which is bittersweet there is more story now, but we have to memorize, record it, or watch videos if we want to piece it together (It must suck for Byf to keep track of those for his lore videos) We lost access to old locations We lost all our gear from D1 (Some people are probably still mad about this one) Ghaul was a punk The raid was not enjoyable The story was too short and felt like another 4 hours could have been added if they fleshed out characters more Cool downs are too long Most of Eververse Finally ghosts and sparrows can only be obtained from Microtransactions with shaders being a one time use and a random drop in addition to most being behind microtransactions (This is probably the worst because the reason eververse was brought in was to reduce costs on us for dlc and so we would get free content like the April update from D1). This is just a list from what I have read in the forums since D2 came out so do not tell me about what has been or is going to be fixed or saying I forgot something because this is long enough and yeah I probably forgot some. Remember it is a summation of stuff not my view on the matter.

2 RepliesEdited by Atomic: 2/11/2018 11:00:44 PMI don't watch YouTube and let me tell you this is by far the most disappointing and shitty game I have ever played. This takes everything that makes D1 good and throws it in the trash. This is nothing more than a glorified arcade shooter.

There are complete games and unfinished games....hope it helps.

Edited by Smeeds: 2/11/2018 4:13:43 PMBecause bungie lies for your money and then cheats you out of a game.

Edited by Tis-but-a-scratch: 2/11/2018 3:01:14 PMThey changed too much. They got to far from D1. They didn't build off if D1 and keep what was good. I look at it like this. Let's use Stars Wars as an example. There are light sabers in the first ones, tie fighters, x wing fighters and so on. By the time the Phatom Menance rolled around your in the same galaxy with identifiable characters, weapons, ships and so on. In essence what bungie did was make the Phatom Menace unrelated and unrecognizable to the Star Wars "world" we all loved and knew. They changed too much, made too casual. Made the desire to play it everyday go away. There is no continuation of time line except in the way they wanted it to be. Like a 5 year old making up rules to a game as they go along to suit their own needs. I was so excited for D2. Then they just ruined it. Why on earth they changed so much is beyond me. Why they didn't keep the successful parts of D1 is incomprehensible. The sad thing is that they know it too. But they will never admit to it. It's like the designers of D2 never even played D1. I looked forward to d1 everyday. I have to force myself to play d2 .

3 RepliesYou’re right. You don’t get. You’re not a hardcore gamer, a youtuber, or twitch stream. You’re a “Filthy Casual” Give my regards to Bungie when they turn off the D1 servers. I’ll be contemplating how this developer hit rock bottom

Edited by Sen: 2/11/2018 5:20:59 AMI don't like it because there's nothing to grind for. I want quests like the exotic swords in Destiny 1 or the Level 25 Class item exotic quests. Stuff like that. The raid seems so tedious and boring, that even if you and your team know the encounter, it will still take you a long time to complete. In Destiny 1, once you knew the encounter it was easy as 1-2-3. And it was FUN too. I got people getting mad and toxic and leaving and I dont want to deal with that. I'm also STILL grinding for that Fakebringer Imago Loop. And I still haven't finished getting my Hunter FWC Cloak exotic. But I also have limited time with College, work and other stuff. I've been playing The Switch ALOT. There's no fun or rewarding feeling in D2. Crucible is a team shooting simulator. Not fun. Don't like 4v4. The Public events kept me playing for a long time, but that didn't last for too long. Curse didnt have enough content to stop me from leaving. I have no interest in playing the raid lair because of how Leviathan went (Alot of frustration for little reward). Also, the big picture here. We expected Bungie to continue where they left off with D1 Y3, but they went back and took away alot of the things that made the game fun and satisfying. They keep messing up, saying that they didn't like [insert change here] and then put it back in its orginal state or changed it even more. They literally said in a Kotaku interview that "Making content with our current devices is HARD". And that they had a choice to make Taken king type of expansions or make money on micotransactions. They chose microtransactions. Tl;dr Bungie didnt capitalize on anything they learned in D1, they back tracked, said it's hard to make content and said that they'd just make money on microtransactions. Also, if you want a better explanation that goes more in depth, Go on Youtube and search Dark Side Royalty Lore. He talks about everything I said above and more. Dishing out up to 20 minute videos at most about how bad Bungie is handling their game.

3 RepliesHere’s it is we as the gaming community were sold a lemon aka a flawed product that it ............ get it now?

1 ReplyApparently ,it's the cool thing to do.

6 RepliesI wouldn’t go by the feedback you read on these forums as they only represent a very small percentage of the community. For the most part they are filled with trolls that want nothing more than to hear their own voice and for the game to fail. Many of them have never even played the game. I agree that D2 is missing a lot given the prior three years of D1 but I am still enjoying it and will stick with it for the journey. If you want to get to the real player base on these forums start using your MUTE to weed out the idiots.

the endgame mechanics of this game are so boring that you could say that there is no endgame.. they took away all the choices and things to grind for and made this game more or less a free for all in terms of weapons and armor. don´t get me wrong playing the campaign was fun but after that people expected to have a goal to work towards to, something incentivising that keeps you playing and that rewards you with better gear to make your character more powerful and allows you to be more powerful and to take on more and more powerful enemys. but in reality they took these mechanics that are in place in the previous game ( like random rolls on weapons) and in other mmorpgs / looter shooter games in order to create a satisfying experience for casuals, so that they can achieve everything in a reasonable amount of time and have access to all parts of the game. it does not really feel any different playing the game with "worse" gear, there is no ladder to climb, you more or less have access to all parts of the game and there is not really a reason as to why you should grind out the last bits of powerlevel. one thing that is very disturbing and that made people very angry is that they knew that gamers and hardcore players would not like this but they "forgot" to clarify that they changed the formula of the game so drastically and that there is no endgame for gamers and hardcore players. they did not change their advertisements and only talked about changes so vaguely that a gamer could not get a realistic picture about the endgame mechanics and the gaming experience in the endgame and they knew what people would expect because it was the sequel and not a totally new game. but their greed was at fault to deceive people and so they led gamers in their believes that the endgame experience would be build upon destiny 1 "but better"... gamers and hardcore players should not be customers for destiny 2 in the first place, since it is a casual only title. and after all the backlash they did not try to correct these fundamental "flaws" for gamers and hardcore players but did rather focus on how to sell even more eververse, because for them the endgame works as intended and is fair for everyone since everyone can and will get more or less the same gear in a short amount of time. instead of creating different difficulty levels, so that all kinds of player types can enjoy the game at their own pace, they simply took away the fun and rewarding part for gamers and hardcore players without telling them. there is nothing wrong with making a game accessable to casual players but not at the price of taking away the fun for everyone else.

I can take a bad game, it's the attitude that sucks, IMO
-
The issue is that Destiny 2 is a downgrade compared to the original. Bungie blew it big time.
-
It's boring.
-
Basically they rebooted the sequel 1 year before launch making drastic changes to attract casuals, poor communication, tired D1 veterans, crappy endgame and dumbed down versions of the things we used to love.

2 RepliesBungie had 2 years, all of Destiny 1 content to work with, and hundreds of thousands of helpful feedback from the community to create Destiny 2. In the end, they only took snippits of the best content from what they've built up for years (and are only going to add more in small drips to keep the community following), revamped the game so that it can bring new players (which in the end only pushed more people away from buying the game, leaving the player population about the same as D1), and didn't listen to the community's cries (random rolls, 6v6 PvP, class customization, etc.). A lot of people "hate" Destiny 2 because we gave three years of our lives to Bungie in hopes that the franchise would finally kick back against the justified criticisms it faced, and it did just that at the end of Year 3 in Destiny 1. The sequel gave everyone hype that the game would finally get a fresh start, a way for Bungie to use all of their tricks up their sleeves and make a legendary game. A psychological "f*** you" to all the people who thought the game would crash and burn. And in the end, the haters were right Now a majority of D1 players are going to go through the exact same cycle again, using up another 3 years of their lives. This was the last straw. We were all hyped up but only fell crashing down. And the worst part isn't that Bungie failed to deliver for the n-teenth time, but that we fell into the same disappointment pit for the second time in a row.
