You might have heard about CMDR DoveEnigma13 and his fight against cancer.
His name is Brandon Keith, 39, from Tucson, Arizona and he's been battling tumors for almost 3 incredibly tough years now.
After getting diagnosed with metastatic melanoma, without a skin primary, he had multiple surgeries and chemotherapies, none of which managed to kill the cancerous cells for good.
Chances are, he will not be there to celebrate his 40th birthday together with his five-year-old daughter. But despite this grim lookout, he expressed, with inspiring strength, the wish to make a trip to Colonia while he still can.
We, the whole Elite Dangerous community, will support him on that journey and make it unforgettable for everyone involved!
Humbly presenting: The Enigma Expedition
The final destination of the expedition is a mega ship known as The Dove Enigma named after CMDR DoveEnigma13 himself, the expedition will end on February fourth all the way in Colonia 22,000ly away from Sol.
All has been well until last night when The Dove Enigma mega ship was UA bombed by a small group of players
UA bombing is the act of selling alien artifacts in bulk to a station in order to shut it down and render it inoperable
The only way to get the megaship back online is to deliver hundreds, potentially thousands of meta alloys (rare commodity found all the way back near Sol) to the ship.
Many player factions are stepping up to the task, it is estimated there are over 4000 meta alloys on route as we speak. This will be more than enough for the ship to come back online but more UA bombings have been reported all around Colonia and it's possible another attack may be made on The Dove Enigma.
Any commanders brave enough to take the call to action, I'll see you in Colonia. Remember, every little bit counts.

Update: The Dove Enigma is back up and running, its black market has been shut down as to prevent further attacks. It is estimated over 7000 tonnes of meta alloys made their way to Colonia so far, any extras should be delivered to nearby stations to safe guard them incase of further attacks. This battle may not be over.

In a weird way I think it’s a good thing they got attacked. Now the journey is that much more memorable for those involved.

Dang, that's awful. I wish I could help but I'm afraid I've only played a little bit of ED so I'm not sure if I'd be able to make the journey.

Theres a fine line when it comes to trolling, and IMO this oversteps it. Its not triggering or enraging. Just...disappointing. Disappointing like a really shit punchline.

1 ReplyCan the developers not ban them or like just put it online themselves. The guy has cancer for god's sake

People suck.

3 RepliesAren’t Meta Alloys only sold out in the system that Obsidian Orbital is in? IIRC, that system isn’t quite Quince far, but a good little jaunt from the bubble.
