So ever since The Taken King, I have noticed black pools of... something in Cabal bases and ships, particularly abandoned ones. These black pools can be found in the Cabal ship aboard the Dreadnaught as well as in the abandoned Io firebase. Both of these places are spots where the Cabal engaged in battle with enemies (the Hive and Taken specifically) and would have presumably suffered heavy losses.
The question I have today (seeing as how 90% of my posts here are questions rather than answers. Perhaps I should step my lore game up?) is this: what is that black substance? Is that the Cabal’s blood?
Edit: Thanks for answering my question, guys! You’ve been a big help. Clearly I need to complete ALL of D2’s adventures. I missed some information contained within them.

2 RepliesAs I recall it’s a programable matter similar to glimmer that’s used for lots of cabal technologies both as a fuel and a lubricant/ pressurizer. There’s a whole adventure detecated to learning about it on earth.

It is explained in 1 of the adventures... The one where you go into their base and hack it.
