  • This one was a documentary with people like Harrison ford and such. It was about the environment. I found out that somewhere (between Japan and Australia or something like that. My guess is Indonesia? I am 99% sure that is wrong thoug) where they just grow trees. Sounds nice right? False. After so many years they burn the entire forest down to create some sort of oil for luxury or whatever. And you can literally see all the smoke and gas and crap like that going into the atmosphere. And there one part of the forest that is very dangerous to burn. Pretty sure people have been doing their best so far to not let them burn there because the ground isn’t actually the ground. They walk on like 6-9’ of death leaves and all that. Burning that would be disastrous. Really changed my view on many things though.

  • I could go on about parts of human nature, stuff we find "weird" abd whatever but I'll instead point you to the show that partially inspired me to think about these things more: Brain games It's on national geographic, and it explains stuff really nicely.

        • A little over 15 minutes but it’s a great watch. For a topic that, in practice, is very heavy in rigorous mathematical formalisms, topology is presented here as a very natural sort of idea. 3Blue1Brown is a fantastic YouTuber as is, and I think this video really showcases his ability to get the viewer to the core idea without being too weighed down by the mathematical formalisms it takes to get there. He makes a 100% purely mathematical idea interesting to the layman. He also has series on Linear Algebra and Calculus that are both excellent for anyone who’s currently taking those courses, or has taken them. Like I described earlier, his main focus is to drive home the core idea of what’s going on, it’s much less about the mathematical formalities and algebra, and much more about what is actually going on.
