What weapon do you use in MHW?
I main dual blades with the bow being a close second.
Wanted to use charge blade but trying to remember all those combos while a Rathian is trying to eat your face off didn’t really go well.
[b]EDIT:[/b] So yeah, gave the insect glaive a try...totally in love, my new official permanent main weapon 😂

[b]EDIT III[/b]: So uh yeah, switched back to a bow main because insect glaive gets stupid hard to use with higher level monsters because they move so damn much. Without the three buffs, IG feels woefully weak. I think it’s pretty bad when I could take down a Tobadachi (whatever that electric fox thing is) faster with a bow than with the IG.

Ever since 4U, I just can't seem to put the Insect Glaive down. Now that I can hunt high rank Odogaron though, I'll be making a punish draw 2h greatsword set.

2 RepliesDumb question: Where/what/when is the glaive? I have been upgrading kinsects, for when I figure it out, but can't find it in the initial weapon line up. Otherwise as a first time hunter, I main gunlance, as I play solo.

3 RepliesAs of now, charge blade. I really like the versatility, even if it is a bitch to manage all the different modes and charging everything. I plan on picking up the heavy bowgun or the horn as well for high level co-op.

Hammer. Where you walk the line of finding "opportunity attacks" and making your own opportunity. Plus there's just something about smashing monsters repeatedly in the head that makes one feel truly satisfied.

I love the IG so much but it always takes me far too long to kill anything. I was doing a 15m Odogaron investigation and before I knew it I was timed out. Threw on my GS and killed it in 7 or 8 minutes. Could be my weapon upgrades though. IG is the second level of the Tobi-Kadachi, the GS is Blooming Sword II

I generally despise the slow, deliberate combat associated with heavy weapons in games, but I think the Charge Blade may be my new favorite. It hits that sweet spot between mobility and heavy damage. 8 RepliesI used the dual blades for awhile, but I was struggling with a boss so I switched to heavy crossbow and continued using it. I usually don't bother with switching ammo types, but it's pretty fun. How does the light crossbow perform DPS-wise compared to the heavy when spamming basic shots? I'd like some mobility lol.

What can say, I like weapons that go boom a lot :-p I use the arena quests to test out other weapons, they are not too hard so it is a good way to familiarise yourself with other weapons. Edit:The optional quest arenas not the challenge arenas, although those are good to play out of your comfort zone as well.

I like the hunter knife and shield. I'm way too "in your face" tactically to not have the need for speed and a way to block... plus launching into the air and on to their backs out of a combo is a sweet maneuver.

There are 4 I use, just need to decide which one I want to main and get more practice in with. Bow, Light Bowgun, Insect Glaive and Sword and Board.

Insect glaive, it great for vaulting on top of monsters and getting in some cheap hits. I use dual blades once in a while too, they make pretty quick work of smaller monsters.
