Destiny 3? I'm never buying another Bungie game until it's been out for two years already. I bought D1 in year 2 and enjoyed it ...still enjoy it sometimes. Bought D2 and played on day 1. Big mistake. And they aren't fixing the main issues. They don't even talk about giving us choice of pvp modes, strike medals, or end of strike/match drops. They actually think this is a workable system. That's how clueless they are.

3 RepliesHere's the simple solution to competitive PvP balancing while maintaining huge variation through RNG loot and more complex skill and exotic builds in PvE. 1. Bring back the elements from D1 which were interesting and powerful. This includes more diverse skills trees whch allow for customizable builds, RNG Weapon rolls with perks that actually matter and adjust stats enough for weapons to differ significantly from each other, bring back armor stats including ability recharge rates. 2. Create one set of PvP-balanced perks for each weapon and piece of armor which is static. This would be the "top row" roll, so-called because the top row of perks on every piece of loot would be static, while rows 2 and 3 on each peice of gear would roll RNG from a wider and potential more powerful set of perks. 3. Create one or two static PvP-balanced skill builds selected from all skill nodes available. 4. Entry into a competitive PvP (Competitive PvP playlist, Trials, etc.) will require you to use only the pre-selected PvP balanced roll on your equipped weapons/armor, and one of the preselected skill builds equipped. You may only switch to gear/subclasses set to a pre-set build during competitive play. 5. Entry into PvE or Casual PvP playlists may utilize any custom skill build or RNG perks on your gear. This solution is a hybrid between D1 where everything was RNG and skill builds were too diverse to balance effectively, and D2 where they made everything static and balanced to the point that it lacks diversity and power. Through this system you have balance in competitive PvP which is the only place it really matters, and wide variation including more power in PvE or casual PvP where balance comes at the expense of variety and fun.

4 RepliesYou’re welcome? For what, lol. For repeating something everyone has said since day 1 year 1 like it’s a new and super original idea? Trust me, it isn’t. And Bungie has flat out adamantly denied ever even considering this idea.

14 RepliesEdited by pacificdune: 1/29/2018 11:32:45 PMAssuming that all of the problems are due to pvp balancing is a mistake. In fact, the failed balancing effort has had its largest impact on pvp making the game un-fun to play. The same issues we feel in PvE are exacerbated in PvP. Bungie’s approach to balance was a continuous string of nerfs. Balance implies keep things constant and do minor adjustments to fine tune the gameplay. Had they started this in vanilla D1 and continued it we would be in great shape now. Instead what was done was nerf after overreaching nerf, which had unintended consequences, which lead to more nerfs. The result is a slow game in both pvp and PvE. The problems are the same. Separate them and you still have the same problems.

PVP Y1 and Y2 D1 was unbalanced and a lot of OHK stuff. But that's the things make PVP fun. its wild... Of course Hunters are crying about Titan SC OHK...but in fact Hunter Rule D1 and D2 PVP Bungie nerfing SC to the ground in the D2...make the SC tree totally useless...no more fun to play Titan The same think about Hunter ArcBlade. They should never be nerfed. No more fun to play Hunter Arc class.. There always be people crying for nerf to anything...but there must be many people else happy. It PVP...one cry one laugh. Those that crying should use the class that they think OP...they smile. But..nerfing everything to make it balance totally make this game boring and everyone not happy.
-
This so much! I've always played this game as mainly a pve player and seeing my favorite weapons turn to mush or my class abilities nerfed into the ground because of pvp balance was frustrating. My day 1 D1 Titan Striker has aged about 40 years and gained about 30lbs and for some reason is a very slow and ungraceful bladedancer now. Not sure she'll be back for D3 and if she does she'll be watching from Saturn sipping on some strong Cabal ale for the first battle reports to come in before she decides if its worth making an appearance.

They could step away from the balance approach now if they wanted to. What's stopping them other than them? They showed they could add modifiers to shotguns in D1 in PvE only. I'm sure they can do the same in D2. Why not a 150% multiplier to exotics in PvE? An increase in sniper damage so they have overall more damage capability than rockets? They SHOULD have had dual stats on guns, we told them that a lot in the D1 forums. But they didn't and here we are with limited tools to separate them. But they aren't without any tools, they could make changes if they wanted. But they don't. This is how they want D2 to play. Everything viable-ish. I miss the days of actual progression with armor based levels and a top tier of weapons. But they aren't coming back, I'm betting ever. They want to appeal to the largest audience possible, casuals aren't going to like not being able to make max level without raiding.

37 RepliesEdited by Gomly1980: 1/28/2018 1:12:01 PMThey need to do 2 things with regards to PvP. 1. Realise PvP isn't the most popular aspect of their game and stop pushing people towards it (example being The Dawning and the only thing happening in the event being a PvP mode ... stop that shit). You don't have an e-sport on your hands and your attempt to make it so only served to push more people away. 2. Completely separate it from the PvE. Give PvP it's own set of abilities and weapons that, when nerfed due to constant whining, don't screw up PvE. More player take part in the PvE side of things Bungie so every time you balance for the whine you screw over the last group of people still keeping your game semi relevant. You managed to completely murder auto rifles in the first game, don't do it again. I don't care what changes you make to PvP as long as it's only to PvP. Nothing worse than having sub classes, weapons and abilities completely ruined in PvE because of shit balancing acts that don't solve the actual issue of people being outplayed.

1 ReplyIf EA doesn't screw up Anthem then it will most likely steal the bulk of the current Destiny community. However I have very little trust in any AAA developer or publisher at this point. Gaming has become nothing more than a Vegas slot machine disguised as a playable box-office movie. D3 would most likely not release until the next generation of consoles appear so Bungie has time to rebuild. If they were smart they'd go back and restore Halo to its former glory. It's a shame how they sunk that ship just to create an all new sinking ship. I dont think the Destiny community even wants a D3 at this point. This mmo-lite fps/rpg genre is no longer niche or proprietary and can easily be reproduced and perfected by another developer that's more in-touch with their community.

8 RepliesIncorrect. The idea that you go into the wild, get weapons to blow each other up with, then are inspired by weapons you do t have to go back into the wild; is a big part of Destiny. The answer is to stop worrying about PVP balance. Make it like D1, year one.
-
Separate them or accept the game is a pve first game and just dont take the pvp ir pvp cryhards seriously.
-
im sorry but you are an idiot for thinking D3 will be better.. all you fanboys will buy it and be very upset again. I am not buying anything after this next DLC until at least 3 weeks in, when everyone is still happy. Even 3 weeks in I can finish things in week the way they do things.
-
FYI, if Destiny 2 doesn't really shape up quickly, nobody will buy Destiny 3.
-
I don't think separating pve and pvp is needed... Just forget about "Balancing" pvp and make actual fun and powerful weapons, Armour, and abilities.
-
It kinda is separate, PvE your damage increases with light lvl. PvP all guardians are equal. If it's the weapon system, I think mods will eventually make the game better, a long with the ladder system.
-
1 ReplyDestiny 3? Why would anyone buy that after the grotesque abomination that is D2?
-
3 RepliesI swear you people are stupid. Here we are in year 4 of the Destiny franchise and you guys still asking for something Bungie will and cannot do. Smh. You guys would try to save this game way more than the developers themselves would try to save it. This company has -blam!-ed up too many times to really get the attention of the players who had their backs. The game is disappointing and even much so as the lore of the game. The only thing Bungie gets right is the gunplay, the skybox and the cinematics.
-
1 ReplyOr let go of Halo. The real problem is that they are still enslaved to Halo’s MP legacy....and refuse to accept that it’s incompatible with the game they made in Destiny.
-
Yes, please make it like every other game where we have set loadouts and classes for PVP separate from our PVE character. Doing it like they've done it since the 90's is how you innovate.

Edited by Xzabath: 1/29/2018 5:19:01 PMThis has been asked for for 4 years, but shits hard so na. Grammar check on my 444 hehe.

“-blam!- me once, -blam!- you!(mostly kidding here, because D1 eventually transformed into an incredibly fun game to play) -blam!- me twice...umm something about George Bush Jr. -blam!- me three times...nah that’s not happening.” The D3 “Beta” trial would actually have to be considerably much better than the full D2 game for me to ever consider buying another Destiny title from BungieVision. Man...what a scam this D2 turd is.
-
Bungie's hubris amazes me. You are absolutely right, a huge number of problems would be fixed by separating PVE and PVP. I can't believe they don't see it, or refuse to acknowledge it.
-
2 RepliesIf they can't save D2 then D3 is already dead.

1 ReplyDestiny 3...... 😂😂😂😂😂😂
