Haven't you ever thought "Hey, this weapon actually have good perks, and it's pretty smooth and accurate as well! If only I could upgrade it and turn it into a masterwork weapon."
Or "This armor looks really cool and unique! If only I could make it useful for everyday activities."
I'm not really sure where I'm going with this, but... Think of all the LOOT! There really would "be a ton of meaningful loot".

Especially the armor. Most of the rare weapons have a legendary version already, but there are some nice looking rare armor pieces that I'd like to use.
-
It could be done the same way the blue sparrows from the Vanguard and Crucible are upgraded to legendary. Maybe Three of Coin could do it. Or x # of shards.
-
3 RepliesThat's too much work. Let's keep it simple and just ask for new guns that aren't reskins. Hell just putting the gun system back to d1 with the 3 slots it would allow more to be actually used (shotguns/snipers/fusion ect).
-
That’s a good idea and I think bungie should possibly think about implementing it.
-
It’s a good shard sink, it will also open up the loot pool variation more at end game, there could also be a chance to upgrade to a masterwork to add that needed additional perk to create an even larger shard sink, personally welcome the idea myself as it has good scope and would make those hidden gems used more just for this very reason of being able to upgrade them!

1 ReplyNo, I've never seen a blue weapon with a superior perk tree than the legendary reskin weapon. Blue weapons and armor, by definition have a less powerful perk tree set, at least wrt sheer number of slots. Don't get me wrong, I miss my ballyhoo and lionheart. And, IF the "mod economy" grew enormously enough to actually matter, and if converting from blue to purple expanded the perk trees, then yes, I would most definitely be down for that. A 330 Ballyhoo is equally as powerful as any legendary handcannon right now, minus the number of perks/stats the legendary owns.

I have a few blue high level weapons that I’ve added legendary mods to.

Similar to Etheric Light... ...good idea!

1 ReplyHey change the thread name to "make all guns like Nechrochasm upgrade tree", that's basically what you're saying- and it would offer an interesting "path to exotic" challenge mode a la Thorn et al in D1. But yeah I agree.

Badlands Shotty...

1 Replynot bad my cuboid aru already OP both pvp & pve

335 Legendary RPC Valiant please?
-
Yeah, there are some nice blue scout rifles. It would be great to upgrade them, but Bungie workers aren’t gamers so they don’t care enough to do that. I’d like to see an end to exotics, since you only get one at a time. A full set of exotic armor and weapons would be awsome, which is enough for Bungie to prohibit it. Too much fun is against company policy.

1 ReplyAre talking about D1 or D2? D2 is basically re-skins, so if you see a blue, there is a higher chance that there is a legendary for that blue.

2 RepliesEdited by JestersRiot: 1/29/2018 2:10:40 PM"We hear you! Check with Tess next update for a unique item to convert your favorite blues to purps!"
-
People have been saying this since year 1. Bungie is just too stupid to implement it.
-
I have often wished for this, myself. There are some sweet looking Blue Warlock helmets, for example and auto rifles. But I think the item should remain Blue still so it stands out when others look at our characters; HOWEVER, the upgrade using shards (ie. purchase from the gunsmith an item for 100 Legendary Shards that allows you to add a random perk to the Blue item) and then you see a silver frame around the item when your Guardian is being viewed (sorta like Masterworked items). This makes sense because right now Blues are nearly useless SO WHY can't we choose to make one equal to a Legendary? It would be cool to see players utilizing Blues in their loadouts. Obviously, there's no one at Bungie not working on D3 content but I hope to see something like this added to D3 if Activision doesn't scrap Destiny altogether for losing popularity so quickly.

Thats a good idea with more content to farm and stuff to do
