They only did it to mercury but thats it? They did it so easily the first time they could just go to Pluto or the other side of mars where space isn’t taken

Easier said than done.....even for The Vex. It's basically a huge free-for-all clust-blam!-.
-
they try to do that, but either the cabal, or guardians get involved
-
As explained in the Dendron strike it takes a tremendous amount of energy to convert an entire planet. The Vex likely can't afford to simply to go converting every space rock they come across.
-
As far as we know, that’s exactly what they are doing. Nessus is a Machine World, almost entirely transformed. They were attempting to do that to Venus in D1 too. Know why they didn’t succeed? And why they aren’t doing it on Io or Mars? Too much opposition from foreign groups, whether it be us Guardians or the other enemy races. Theoretically, they might have taken Pluto. But we don’t know if there’s anything else on Pluto that’s causing trouble for them there, like how the Vex haven’t messed with Earth, Titan, the Moon, or the Reef. No point in entering too many wars at once.

<They're waiting and/or too much opposition. Conversion of Mars has practically stopped because the Red Legion came in and destroyed everything. We stopped the attempted conversion of Venus twice. We stopped one conversion point on Io. If they attempted to take Earth they would get annihilated. They can't simulate us, so why would they go to a planet full of us without knowing more? It just seems stupid.>

Because the traveler stopped them. That's it. No explanation needed. Vague ass line from Destiny 1....
-
Because their goal is to be the last, dominant species in the universe. By manipulating events through time. The goal isn't just to turn planets into machines. Its to (basically) turn the ones they need into massive super-computers that allow them to simulate as many possible series of events as they need to figure out which events lead to the outcome they want. Then they go back in time and set those events in motion.

5 RepliesThey are, but it takes time.

HEY! Don’t rush them they try and that’s all we can ask ok? Now let’s go and see what hive beast is gonna come and kill us now.
-
I think what you highlight is an important point that lacks clarity - what determines how fast/slow they can do that?
-
Ooooh, they're tryin'!
-
They have a plan....
