A positive thought in a sea of negativity

As a vanilla D1 player, I think I can say that I have put in the time with this game to know what I’m talking about have a general feel for the franchise. First off I just want to say THANK YOU, for all of your hard work and dedication to such a demanding franchise. I can only imagine what you guys have to do to pull off the amount of content that you bring to the game. There is are many things that I think you all should be proud of for D2 even if the community lately won’t note any of it. A few on my list….. World Maps Way Points Lost Sectors Adventures Clans, Clan rewards Raids and Raid Lairs Lost Prophecies All of these systems are huge improvements from D1 and make the game a more immersive space. Clans have really given my group a tool to be able to fill Raid and Nightfall spots on a regular basis. We went from a group of 6 to a group of 11 now. As a gamer that typically pops on at night for about 2 hours before I head to bed, I have completely enjoyed your products and still continue to enjoy D2 on a daily basis. My group ramps up and down with releases, we typically have large groups on for months after an expansion, then it dies out for a bit till the next drop comes out. But there is one thing that still happens every week RAID Night. We dedicate 1 night a week to focus and try to do the most challenging stuff in your games. (By the way…. the comments from my team are they love the new raid lair). Also, a huge complement from my group is the lost prophecy. We all have been enjoying them at an average pace I’m sure. A few of us have gotten through them all and a few are getting into the lore driven pieces that from my groups accounts are awesome. Sure the live events don’t keep everyone’s interests all the time. But it is still fun to try and collect the gear. (Just snagged my Dead Orbit set and ornaments this week). As one of the community I wanted to reach out and let you know just how much my clan enjoys your games and your work. Please try and stay positive over there and keep your heads up Guardians! We are loyal and waiting fans that can’t wait for your next release so we can dive in and experience the adventure your teams have created for us. • All of those features you listed are basic changes, also don't praise them for delivering half a raid. That's not what we should be expecting, it's lazy and shows little desire to please the pve crowd.

  • I agree with the great additions to Destiny 2 that weren’t in Destiny 1. I just wish they wouldn’t have taken out everything that made Destiny fun!

  • How on earth are lost sectors a vast improvement over anything? Its a room with a major, we do this hundreds of times in pretty much all other activities. There are some praise worthy aspects of the game (the music is fantastic for instance) but anyone praising lost sectors is blind.

    • Yeah I actually really like the game. My wife and I both do. We have a lot of fun playing together. I guess we're "filthy casuals" anyway since we don't play as much as a lot of the community. We are also new to Destiny completely so maybe that helps our opinion? Game isn't perfect. There's some thing we don't like/despise about it: Story is pure shit especially as newcomers. No codex, no recaps, we were clueless about wtf is going on. The voice acting and forced humor is cringe asf until you start having fun making fun of it, then it becomes tolerable. The Ghost voice acting/written dialogue is the biggest annoyance as far as that goes since you spend the most time audibly listening to him over anyone else. I swear his dialogue was written by a teenager. The DLC drop only 3 weeks after we bought the damn game was INFURIATING at first and actually caused us to quit for a month. We still haven't purchased it and don't plan to until it goes on a good sale. In the month we quit we read enough about the Holiday event to see how purely f***ed Eververse was at that point. Big let down. Despite these things we picked it back up and are really enjoying ourselves still. We just enjoy what it does offer as far as content for now since we're pretty slow moving in progression anyway. We know it's not perfect but it has enough redeeming qualities to keep us engaged. Of course the paint job it's a AAA title. The graphics and atmosphere are beautiful and EXCEPTIONALLY well optimized on PC (I never drop below 60FPS on a 980 max settings). The musical score is amazing. The gameplay and mechanics feel really great (naturally it's Bungie). We feel challenged enough and have enough to do that we never get bored. Like I said, we're casuals so I guess that's who the game is meant for. We just aren't casuals willing to shell out any extra $$$. Paying full price for a game never warrants such a large microtransaction intensive mechanic no matter what it is. But that's the day and age we live in and gamers are finally starting to push back enough to be heard. It will be a slow process but eventually I think the industry will find a happy medium.

    • Clan rewards are one of the worst things to happen to the franchise. Let give away the best loot for doing absolutely nothing. "Hey how can we get people to play our endgame? If we give them the rewards before they do the raid that will make them play it rite?" I bet it was the same person who decided "Hey how can we get people playing season 2 of rallies? Let keep the new weapons out of the loot pool until the last rally." I think Bungie was high on bath salts when they made this game.

      • You are the perfect example of someone who has Stockholm syndrome. What makes this franchise "demanding" is Bungie's incompetence, deceit, and apathy towards players. Bungie didn't respect your time when they throttled experience, didn't fix exotic duplicates, among other ways they increased the grind. Bungie didn't respect your money when they decided to reduce content in favor of the cash shop and lootboxes. Bungie didn't respect your progress when they revealed nothing would transfer over from Destiny 1. Bungie didn't respect THEIR progress by making Destiny 2 something very different in all the wrong ways. Bungie didn't respect your intelligence when they gave the same tired, "We're listening/That's not working the way we want/We messed up," excuses. Bungie didn't even respect your loyalty to them when they made The Dawning a lootbox extravaganza. They do not deserve any sympathy, "positive thoughts," or anything players can offer them. Bungie is a soulless company out to devour your wallet and any conception of what a "good game" is.

        • Good post buddy. Imho I like the game very much. And yes I know that D2 has more than one problem and I hope they fix a good majority in the near future. I never played D1 since I bought my PS4 with the release of D2 (and no I didn't buy it because of the game. It came in a bundle) so I can't compare the 2 games. But I tend to believe with all the rage going on that it would have been just slightly less if Bungie took D1 year 3 and released it with the features that are new in D2. A huge amount of players would have been as salty as they are now saying that it is not enough content for a new game. On the other hand I get most of the frustration. For example I've never tried the prestige Raid as well for 2 reasons: a) Some of the guys I run with have still problems with the normal raid and we like to get guys in the fireteam who never completed or even attempted the raid. Reason being that LFG groups often only want people in their fireteam with completions. And we like to teach new guys the mechanics. For me personally it is fun and makes me feel good when we beat Calus and the new guys express their happiness having it done for the 1st time. b) I hop on the criticism train when it comes down to rewards. I fully understand the guys who are saying that the loot is not worth the attempt. Prestige will be a tough challenge for me and I like to have a reward worth the time. I really hope they fix it so that the hardcore gamer have a reason to play. If casuals never the the prestige raid so what? But there are not just a few players who want a challenge and sth to grind for. I totally get that and Bungie should pull a rabbit out of its hat to make the game worthwhile for everyone. You can't satisfy everyone but you should have incentives to do the (prestige) raid and get gear nobody has. Since there are no random rolls it wouldn't matter for the casuals that they don't get this amour set or weapon. If they want the prestige amour (hopefully with raid perks, cosmetic only is not enough reward) they need to complete it. Just my 2 cents now you can strip me down for it if you want to xD

                • Sadly the bungie forums are just a pile of salt at the moment. Reminds me of a recent post by a politician in Canada that wanted to try and figure out how to harness the salt of the internet to help clear the icy roads where he was at...

                  • I agree with you... I’m also a D1 vet... And I don’t understand all the negativity on this forum. My thoughts from a previous post: - 8 months to get Gjallahorn, doing all weeks VoG/CE (exotic chest, don’t open the spirit bloom one 😜), that was nice, the grind was real, BUT: people complained how difficult it was to obtain exotics, so BUNGIE changed it -> again people cry. - 6v6 PvP: so much laggers, people complaining...BUNGIE changed it to 4v4, no (little) lag -> people cry -> they bring back 6v6 -> people complain... - PvP: people: nerf Vex Mythoclast/Thorn/...BUNGIE did it, bring some balance between weapons, people not happy -> they bring again perks weapons (ok, only orbs) -> not happy - D1: too much snipers, too much ammo. People not happy. So BUNGIE adapt it for D2: sniper/shotgun only heavy/power ammo -> people again complain... I’m not English speaking, but I just don’t get it why everybody is complaining.... And when a game is trash, I don’t post on the forum, I just leave... I’m not happy with everything on D2 (I want to grind for exotics or raid weapons/gear like D1 vanilla, for example), but I still enjoy the game.

                    • There is no reason to do adventures, lost sectors, raids, lost prophecies. Log in to World of Warcraft and experience what a guild system should look like. Clan chat is the bare minimum. Destiny doesnt even have that.

After 4 years, that's not much. Lost Sectors and Adventures are nothing more than fancy patrols. Missed opportunities. Lost Sectors could have been areas to discover Lore. World Maps are nothing more than bigger versions of what we already had in D1. Clan rewards is good. I did like that. I'm glad you are enjoying the game. Nothing wrong with that. Unfortunately, I just can't set my sights that low to be happy with it. If the loot sucks and I get less space magic, there's not point to doing any of this. Your message to Bungie is obvious, "Hey guys, you don't even have to try or put in any effort into your game. I'll buy and I'll play it. Underwhelm me, man, I love it."

                    • You ACTUALLY think Bungie should be proud of Lost sectors, Clan rewards and the incredibly underwhelming missed opportunity of Lost prophecy weapons??? You're actually mental kid!

Too much chaos in Forums right now I’m just thinking if bungie wants to make a change and make people interested again,,,maybe use the nature of this forum for a change. Like I think we need player kill (PK) mode and non pk mode on the 5 public open places (Titan, Earth, Nessus, Io and Mercury) so clans will grow and fight each other if they wanna freestyle pvp. Or maybe have a clan war to take over a territory in each of these moons/planets and whichever clan wins gets their loot % advantage and takes over that territory for a week on the next reset. Add some tough gigantic bosses that can take 80% of your health in a single attack and require more than 15 guardians to kill. Just change something that Destiny didn’t have on Vanilla and I think most of us will have fun.
