In the murals on the ahip and in the cabal book, where is that creature? Is it the same as the book of sorrows leviathan?
Edit: i dont think it is the same as the books.
I think it is a creature the cabal used to deploy on rival planets and it would work its way across and devour it, like the sand worms in Dune.
Then I'm sure there are references to the ship being a creature, it actually devours and consumes the planets. It isn't just a big ship.
So maybe the cabal bred and engineered one large enough to be a planet devourer?
In the adventure "invitation from the emperor" the dialogue made me thi k they were testing the fround on Nessus to see if the leviathan could consume it, and that the purple/wine stuff on the ship is created by the leviathans digestive system.

2 RepliesYou know, the entire thing reminds me of the Star Whales from Doctor Who. Especially the one with the UK on it's back.

Pretty sure that the Leviathan ship is just modeled after a massive beast from the Cabal homeworld. As for the ship being referred to as if it's a sentient creature, well...that's no different from people referring to a car or boat as "she". It's not meant to be taken literally.

1 ReplyCalus is actually 3 warbeasts in a trenchcoat

3 RepliesEdited by AlphynKing: 1/21/2018 9:52:14 PMCalus' Leviathan was modeled after giant land-whale-worm-things from the Cabal homeworld, which would apparently just slide across the ground gobbling up entire cities. So it’s fitting that the Leviathan ship capable of eating world’s would be based off of it; no references to those creatures ever being under the control of or being used by the Cabal though. The ship is definitely not alive (as far as we know, I guess that’s possible but it seems like a far-fetched concept with no reasons to believe). I do not think the creatures in question are at all related to the Hive's Worms. In D1 you can see the Worms on the Dreadnaught, and they’re pretty tiny and look a lot different, having spines and no visible mouth, unlike the Cabal land worm creatures. Finally, I think the Leviathan from the BoS was also completely different from the other two. We don’t really get a physical description other than it was really huge, so it may not even be remotely worm-like. And that guy was an intelligent follower of the Light, so I doubt he’s related to them anyways,

1 ReplyI believe that the deep that Calus stared into (That stared back) is the darkness and he made a pact with it, therefore making him an Ascendant like Oryx is. The Leviathan is essentially Calus' own version of the Dreadnaught.

3 RepliesI don't think the creature in the art on the ship is the Leviathan from the book of sorrows. I think it's a worm god

2 RepliesShepard found it on the bottom of the ocean in one of the mass effect games (3 I think.)

1 ReplyI forget what mission in the campaign but when you drop down there’s a white looking wall to the left that is actually glass. You can see a giant sea monster swim by very slowly. Also, if you look down at the methane sea on titan you can see giant sea worms go in and out of the water.

Big fat drunk turtle, there you go. No need for lore that will be wiped away, no need of thought at all. Big dumb drunk turtle. Freud: “sometimes a pencil is just a pencil.”

As to where the real Emperor is, the smart Glimmer’s on him loafing around in a penthouse at the top of that tower.

Book of sorrows leviathan lives in the depths on Fundament, the hive homeworld. It is capable of communicating and even warned the sisters of what would happen if they continued their journey deeper into Fundament.

Edited by Sol, The Architect Mind: 1/21/2018 8:13:08 AMIt eats the worm, the worm then needs the leviathan to constantly kill in order for its/calus' power to grows. I really think that calus became a part of that ship, like Oryx and his dreadnaught, but this time, calus is his fat ass ship. Feeding on all the life around. I think savathun engineered that one specifically for calus and his ship.

4 RepliesThe grenade launcher has the Lore tab mentioning the Cabal worms. Saying that his prison ship, the Leviathan will no longer represent mythical creatures from the dreams of worms, instead it will represent Calus' gluttony.

1 ReplyYes I have also wondered why they haven't touched on this more. Apparently it is an actual creature, but not related to Books of Sorrow Leviathan. Calus also either has a piece of dialogue or there is flavor text from one of the EoW raid weapons briefly mentioning the "Cabal" worms. Also in the physical collectors edition items, there is a card with art on it depicting some Cabal worshiping a giant worm destroying a small civilization.

If you search the cabal Leviathan, you'll see a space work eating a city. The ship is directly modeled after it. But as said in the lore, Calus doesn't want his ship to be connected to the other stories of cabal creatures, or old hive gods but his own thing. The Evoathan mentioned in book of sorrows and the disciple of the traveler has not been depicted. But you can still draw loneliness to the two even thiugh Calus says not to. I made a post about the irony

The leviathan is the creature you go to for the raid . you land on its nose for the first part of the raid. Going through layers you actually are going deeper into the creature. Eventually you will come out the backside as some toilet water residue. This way instead of bungie shitting on its players its players are the shit themselves. Seriously though if you look the raid is on the creature. Cant miss it

You will never see it as thins game really don't have story + whatever little there may be will be scrapped when D3 comes around. Have fun! 😀
