Random rolls is not what makes a looter shooter "buddy" grinding gear and finding loot to shoot with does. Make rare gear make armor matter make weapons fun again. Random rolls won't fix shit it will make a boring game a boring game with grinding

Nope thats an rpg you're thinking of. Looters have random rolls.

Yes and they all suffer from the same problem, pointless gear. And the stupid thing is that all games like this, specifically a game like Borderlands, has the solution built into the system. Tiered gear. Rare gear is relevant in D2, the system is just incomplete. There are blues and greens that are indeed competitive. Random rolls don't fix any of the actual problems with this game.

It IS the actual problem with the game.

Random rolls are what cover up a lack of content. Destiny has a ton of systems in place that would make using fixed roll weapons more rewarding, they just fell short on the content aspect. Consider D2 as it is. Fixed roll weapons. Armor sets. Ships, Shaders, Ghosts, Emblems, Emotes, Sparrows. Now consider a game where EVERY activity. EVERY single one, had a set of items obtainable ONLY from doing that activity. With variations of specific items(reskins), taking the place of "random" rolls. So archtype, scopes, perks, whatever, were specific to a particular source. A uriel's gift for example would come from say public events on IO. While a Uriel's Prize(whatever) would come from IO based strikes. Planetary armor sets on IO would be mobility, but Heroic adventure gear would be recovery, or resilience. Everyone wins. People can grind, but they are not grinding for some random bullshit. They can actually go for gear that they want. Add unique blue items into the mix(like the sandhawk from Borderlands 2), and you open up even more possibilities. You want a grind, I get it. What we want is useful gear, and a means to obtain it. Random rolls don't really enhance the weapon system. Now, if mods actually had variety and ONLY came from specific sources as well... Tons of possibility.

That system sounds awesome, would love to have to do specific content to get specific gear, would love it even more if the perks on that gear was randomly rolled. People who want a well rolled set of weapons, should be able to get them from vendors and raid/trials drops should have a good set of set perks. Playing for different appearances on the same gear is not what a looter is about. Thats what eververse should be for.
