The state of Trials.....

Is Destiny 2 Trials Fun

Is Destiny 2 Trials Not Fun

13

Like most people I have had much more fun in Destiny 1 than I am having in Destiny 2. I do understand that development and everything else that Bungie are working on takes time and that the people that have worked on D2 are most likely not the same people that gave us everything past The Taken King. However this is not what I have come to discuss here; that would be the state of Trials in D2 vs D1. This past weekend I participated in my first ever Trials go on PC as I switched over from PS4 this past week. I already knew what to expect from PS4 and from the grinding I had done the past week as well in relearning what works and what does not on PC. However: after many failed attempts, after facing many of the same teams back to back, after trying out different load-outs even though the one I was just using was working fine, I came to realize one thing ; I was not having fun, I was not enjoying the game mode at all. This is not new I really have not had much fun in Trials since release on PS4 either, but Survival sometimes made up for it. Trials was countdown this past week, so maybe that played a factor I don't know. I know Trials is supposed to be the top tier competitive game-mode its not supposed to be all fun and games and all. But come on everything is 4v4 now its all kinda sweaty for no reason at times I just don't think this is all working out like Bungie hoped. Flashback to Destiny 1 and House of Wolves. Trials of Osiris was marketed the same as Trials of the Nine is now; top-tier competitive playlist, 3v3 like skirmish (and that was just warm-up for trials once it got released). I don't know why but I'm not bad at the game normally yeah I sucked at times, but knowing I could test my skills against people better than me and get rewarded for it; I was all for this. Week 1 I played and missed flawless I was bummed, but week 2 my team and I tried even harder and we got our 1st flawless; we went to that Lighthouse and claimed our prize. It was awesome! Trials as the meta changed, and the years went on got even sweatier. However: I never quit playing the game mode even when I raged so hard, I never quit even when I wanted to, I never quit because I was addicted. I generally had fun playing Trials in D1 even when it was a crappy playlist because of the meta I still had fun. I don't mean to slam Bungie in this post I just want to bring attention to this and other parts of the game that people have posted. I do just want to ask Bungie what their goal is for this game? Is this game for Casuals or is this for Hardcore and Competitive Players? 4v4 crucible feels like Skirmish did in D1 a mix of casual 6v6 and Trials at least that is how I feel when playing it. That is all I am going to say for now I could go on and on about how everything was back in Destiny 1 compared to now, but I think everyone else has voiced those opinions enough for now. P.S. I linked Trials Report as a reference and to show how little unique players there were this past week. ~Check
