OK currently we have kinetic, energy and power slot and well there's no way to realistically change this within destiny 2 but here are my ideas to improve what we got.
*(this symbol means reduced damage in crucible to prevent 1 shot/imbalance)
Primaries- add kinetic shot guns*, short swords((does about a hand-cannon crit as damage) quickfang is a good example)
Energy- add fusion rifles*, grenade launchers*, tracer rifles
power- buff sniper damage to compete with rockets(snipers need to stay a power weapon, sorry but they are too strong in pve as anything else but power but I do believe they need a pve buff to compete reasonably). And double or triple the ammo for swords. Add Heavy Machine guns.
thoughts? ideas? improvements?
Edit additions: all current weapons would stay as is but these new additions would be new weapons
Example: loadout could be kinetic:shotgun energy:scout power:heavy shotgun or rocket launcher
additional info is a kinetic shotgun would be to a heavy shotgun as a auto-rifle was to a heavy machine gun in D1.
p.s. These changes are more in thought of adding more variety and fun to pve.

I like the idea for primaries. I'd love a primary sword. That we we could have true melee builds. Imagine having a sword, a hand cannon, and a shotgun. You would be deadly at close range. For snipers they'd either need triple the ammo, or triple the damage. Otherwise a rocket is a better choice everytime. They do more damage, they have a bigger splash area, and you don't have to worry about being flinched off of your aim.

Just go back to D1 weapon system and problem is solved. Enough people are sick of two primaries and Bungie knows it. They either need to put in the work or don’t and watch players continue to leave.

1 ReplyHey, since you asked for my thoughts, here goes: I think the problem I have with exotic fusions only in Power but still in Energy as legendary sort of begs the question of why there is a big difference between Energy and Power. I could see adding fusion to energy and that being fine for the exotic ones as well. I think the problem is adding The Colony to Energy. I think you could move grenade launchers to Energy as long as all the other options there could compete. The idea for a short sword is interesting. I think in general there could have been an entire melee class instead of just swords (axes, spears) that reflect "more damage, but lower swing speed" without using stat bars. Do I want in the primary slot? Maybe, maybe not. I'd have to actually play around with that to feel it out. I think shotguns in the primary slot is too powerful. Why use anything else that's close range, for instance, like SMGs, in the primary slot? Unless it did way less damage than a shotgun in another slot. But then, it's not really a shotgun if it's shooting nerf balls, right?

2 RepliesI can't really agree with you on moving the current weapons in the power slot away from there. Shotguns: there usefulness relies on them being one hit kill weapons, if they can't do it in one shot then they will be outperformed by high RPM weapons every time someone is close. Plus full auto rapid fire shotguns would end up being the only viable choice to go against them. Fusion Rifles: Same argument for shotguns, plus consider the fact that they require a charge and for each energy burst to ht the target in order to maximize damage. Swords: Right now the only sword that can work in the way you described it is the Quickfang since it has the fastest swing due to it being lightweight frame, any other sword frame would be to slow to kill while being shot back. Grenade Launchers: These weapons are very reliable for area bombardment and can perform one hit kills if direct impacts on enemy, I can't see Bungie doing them any justice for balancing so best leave it were it is. I do agree with you stance on snipers, they should be one of the higest damage in game, and LMG should make a comeback but be available as a primary weapon since it can't one hit kill.
