The Nine... or The Harmony?

I was thinking, what if the Nine are actually remnants of the Harmony, from the Books of Sorrow? Lets start with what The Harmony are. It was an extremely advanced race (they had the ability to manipulate the accretion disk of a black hole to fire plasma jets at a designated target) that was visited by the Traveler, and they even posed a great challenge to Oryx and his sisters in their conquest of the Light. The Traveler left them a massive source of Light: The Gift Mast, which existed in one of the polar jets of the black hole, as stated in Books of Sorrow verse XLV. Connecting the Harmony to the current chain of events could be a lot simpler than expected. The Third Spire is a world of the Nine. And, this world orbits a black hole, just like the homeworld of the Harmony. The Third Spire is constantly shrouded in a stark, bright light, seemingly coming from the accretion disk of The Third Spire's black hole, the brightest object in the sky. Back in verse XLV, Oryx states that the Traveler lied to ten worlds, and now they orbit the black hole. And the Traveler lied to the accretion disk so that it would give warm light to these worlds, one of them being the home of the Harmony. This lines up with the Third Spire, as it is a world orbiting a black hole, whose light source is a black hole's accretion disk. Also, the Nine seem to be interested in our use of the Light. They think it's the "key" to something (I can't cite this for sure, because I believe the line stating this is from the Emissary while in a game of Trials). Remember how the Harmony fought back against the Hive but ultimately failed? And how we have thus far succeeded where they failed? The Nine being the Harmony would explain why they see our use of the Light as more advanced. This is purely speculation, and has no solid proof. However, I believe the likelihood of the Nine being remnants of the Harmony is quite high. There's too many correlations for it to be ignored.
Completely unrelated to my theory, but I think verse XLV also has another proof of the theory that the Worm Gods are Ahamkara. Oryx says "THE DRAGONS. Our gods should be ours alone," referring to the Harmony's use of wish dragons, or Ahamkara.
• This was a good read and a very plausible theory, in my opinion. The only thing I might add is that when something fails to defeat the Hive, it typically involves complete annihilation. However, Oryx observed the system had ten worlds that the Traveler's Gift Mast fed, not just the Harmony. And as you mentioned, the Hive considered the Harmony to be a potential threat. It's possible that the Hive only attacked and destroyed the Harmony's homeworld, leaving the nine other worlds in the black hole's system behind.

It's possible that they are a remnant from Harmony. There are nine things the Nine could be and two of those seem to have been confirmed, 9 Ghosts that pierced the Deep Black without a ship and deep-orbit Warminds. We also know that the Jovian colonists made some sort of deal with something, Xur is a result of that compact, as were the Awoken, though that was not something they chose. Two that are for all purposes confirmed
The Nine are deep-orbit Warminds who weathered the Collapse in hardened stealth platforms. The Nine are Ghosts who pierced the Deep Black without a ship and meditated on the hissing silence of the heliopause.
Highly likely
The Nine are survivors of the cis-Jovian colonies who made a compact with an alien force to ensure their own survival.
If they are Harmony, then this one is possibly true
The Nine arrived in a mysterious transmission from the direction of the Corona-Borealis supercluster.
Plus one that may explain one of the two creatures seen on Titan
The Nine are ancient leviathan intelligences from the seas of Europa or the hydrocarbon pits of Titan.
That leaves 4 still unknown, I think.
The Nine are the firstborn Awoken and their minds now race down the field lines of the Jupiter-Io flux tube. The Nine are the aspects of the Darkness, broken by the Traveler's rebuke, working to destroy us from within. The Nine is a viral language of pure meaning. The Nine are the shadows left by the annihilation of a transcendent shape, burned into the weft of what is.
Lastly, the Nine are said to have given sanctuary to the Ahamkara, which the Harmony either were or were aided by them. There are a number of possibilities about what Xivu Arath said The Harmony themselves are Ahamkara and are somehow related to the worms The Harmony were aided by Ahamkara/wish-dragons - which are related to the worms The Ahamkara/wish-dragons at Harmony carried worm larvae without the same compact forced on the Hive.

        • Actually the Nine is behind Eververse. They want to monopolize bright engrams and Tess is just an innocent pawn.

          • But how did any of them survive? The hive don’t usually leave things alive. And it seemed like oryx was confident he killed them all.

            • The Nine seem to be Ghosts who have lost their Guardians. Check out the in game lore for The Long Walk sniper rifle:

              • Honestly, I’ve never been too interested in who the Nine were, maybe just what’s special about Xür, but you are definitely onto something. You explained the black hole well, and if what the grimoire said about the Harmony launching things accurately at long distances, that would explain how they could send us such accurate coordinates.

              • Did you think that they could be the ghosts in "A Long Walk" lore tab?

              • Sounds reasonable. The books of sorrow was amazing. I haven’t even read the cabal one yet. I’ve only seen pieces on here about it. We need more “books” on in game lore. I really hope they bring it back

              • Man, too bad we’ll never read anything as deep as the books of sorrow huh? We’ll get flavor text on eververse items at best. Of course I do like being proven wrong, and I’m sheepishly optimistic about the future of D2

                • A good theory though the nine seem more of an incredible cosmic power that sees us as a per of sorts. Like how we give supppoet to third world countries despite that their problems are very little to us.
