Howdy all,
I, among many of you, have noticed the weakness in the Ward of Dawn option for the code of the protector. I personally feel that it was tacked onto the code for nostalgia, rather than having it be a set build.
For this subclass tree, bear in mind that this would hopefully be it's own independent tree as opposed to a rework of the protector tree. Also bear in mind that a new perk should fill in the Ward's spot on the protector tree.
Code Of The Fortress
Defenders Strike
This devastating melee ability increases melee damage and, on kill, generates a portion of super energy similar to Destiny 1's perks.
Ward Of Dawn
The meat and potatoes of this tree, the Ward will take over the sentinel shield super entirely, meaning that you can only use ward. This will come with a small buff to bubble radius alongside overall bubble health.
Superior Defenses
Ward of Dawn has increased duration.
While this may feel weak at first, this will be a large 15 second duration, allowing for pure lockdown of a specific zone or area. This will somewhat make up for the lack of other stat bonuses.
Gifts Of The Void
When Ward of Dawn is fired upon, it generates orbs of light for teammates. Alongside this, you and allies within the ward gain reduced cool down while within protection of the ward.
Now this may be nerfed, but I believe it fixes two problems with the ward. The first fix is that it allows for a more playstyles by allowing you to rush a crowd of enemies and generate orbs. Another thing this perk adds is a general bonus to staying within the ward, allowing you to properly assist the team.
I will admit that this is just a basic idea I came up with. It just seems like a diservice to leave ward of dawn the way it is now. If you have any comments or ideas, please feel free to share them.

4 RepliesI miss the old defender 1) Armor, blessing, weapons 2) When overshield active, you could punch things to death and create lots of orbs.

Superior fortress should buff barricades health and duration.

If they do anything to buff the sentiel I would be surprised. Here's to hoping something changes a year from now...

I like this idea, as it provides a way to defend yourself and allies from oncoming fire, as well as reshaping the battlefield to your advantages. This, combined with the Helm of Saint-14, basically tells any of your enemies, "COME AT ME, BRO!"
