A friend of mine wanted to change the look of his hunter, so he put everything in the vault, and equipped some blues and proceeded to delete his character. After he made his new hunter he went to the vault to see if his stuff was there and everything that once belonged to his hunter was completely gone. Even some guns were missing.
In Destiny 1 I deleted my hunter to do the same thing and all my gear was fine. Did Bungie change that in Destiny 2 where if you delete a certain class and you don't have another version of that class it deletes all of that classes gear?
He has his collection of exotics still so he can still buy those back, but all of the guns and legendaries that were ever on his hunter were deleted(even though he transferred them to the vault).
I know Bungie will not recover manually deleted characters. That is totally fine. But why would they delete everything in the vault too? Is it because they think people will delete their characters over and over again to farm powerful gear?

1 ReplyGear in the vault should be safe, any gear carried (equipped or not) on the toon however would be lost.

1 ReplyAll Items on the vault are saved IF you have more than one character to carry over to. Items you had on your inventory are lost
