I like to look at a lot of different fictional universes and compare them do Destiny. I know Guardians definitely aren't the strongest characters in fiction, not by a long shot, but if you were to pit, say a Sentinel Titan up against Captain America, who do you think would win? There are a lot of other comparisons I could make as well.

I know this is a little late but according to lore, guardians are some of the strongest fictional characters. There's either a weapon or grimoire that says if The Guardian (the player's character) and Ikora fought on Mars, it would knock the planet out of orbit and destroy it. Guardians also can only be killed by "Para causal" weapons. Basically, in order to kill a Guardian, you have to hit them and their ghost with a weapon that makes it so that their very existence in the current time is a paradox. Also, in the lore, subclasses aren't a thing. In lore, Guardians the use the light in anyway they want, the creativity of the Guardian is the limiting factor. They are basically immortal, stronger Green Lanterns. Not to mention what the Guardians face. The Vex control time and its flow. The ascended Hive are literal reality bending gods. The Cabal are 800lbs super soldiers and the Fallen are a species that the Traveler improved.
-
We have literal magic on our side, most things will bend to our will. Our bodies can take being slammed against most things, and our healing factor is pretty nuts. I say straight strength, we are basically top tier humans and robots.
-
In a trailer for Destiny 2, we saw a warlock carry a cubic meter of concrete without an hassle so they are very strong, dear.
-
In terms of strength, guardians seem to be almost identical to normal humans. The titan armor material from vanilla of D1 specifically mentions that titan armor enhances the strength of the user. Where guardians shine is they constantly ressurect. You'll eventually run out of ammo if you're fighting them. The only way to win in to contain them or destroy the ghost.
-
Guardian lose its light, get shoved off a ship by Calus and fall hundreds of feet to the ground and survive. Guardian regain his light, go into the crucible, jump off the edge and die.
-
id really want to see battle between guardians and halo spartans
-
They’re maybe a step above a person. Like I could see Titanfall pilots kicking an average Guardian’s face in, honestly. Don’t even get me started on Warframes
-
Note: in any case, it depends on the Guardian. Wimps get whooped, and pros get pumped. Also, keep in mind Guardians are practically immortal thanks to Ghost, so unless Ghost is down, the Guardian automatically wins against any mortal. Sentinel vs. Captain America: If the Guardian had martial arts training remotely close to Cap, the Titan would win; their powers outmatch Cap's endurance. Striker vs. Hulk:
In Thor: Ragnarok, Thor delivered a pretty good "Fist of Havoc", and Hulk still won.
Hulk would win; he's practically invulnerable. Sunbreaker vs. Thor: Thor's durability might not be enough to save him from the Hammer of Sol, whereas the Guardian would just revive via Ghost.
-
Depends on the ability status of the Titan, if Capt. America is willing to kill and if Capt. America knows how to kill the Titan. Assuming the abilities are charged Capt. America knows how to and is willing to kill. Then probably the Titan. Same thing but no abilities then Capt. America would probably win
-
Humans are 5 or less light because in the first mission of Destiny when we pick up nontraveler weapons and it’s five light and with nontraveler armor which is also five so we’re basically human at that point except we have infinite respawn and extra resilience from the travelers light that inside of us

Edited by Tâxx, Herald of the IRS: 1/8/2018 9:47:18 PMSentinel Titan Vs Captain America?
Sentinel would win easily. Sentinels have everything Capt. America does plus more even more abilities available to them. Not to mention they are able to infinitely revive themselves, have a VERY significant strength advantage and potentially way more years of combat experience due to guardians being immortal.
How strong are guardians in general?
Honestly, it really depends on the guardian. Guardians like Shaxx or Osiris would be able to rumble with the best, where just a randomly selected guardian maybe not. Also let us not forget how powerful the enemy races the Destiny actually are, the enemies that the guardians have defended themselves and the Last City against for god knows how long. First off we have the Cabal who destroy entire planets and stars just for getting in their way. Secondly we have the Vex that are reality bending machines that can terraform entire planets into a machines. Thirdly we have the Hive which are an ancient, undead race that wield the power of evil incarnate. And last but not least we have the Fallen, they're still alive despite their home world being destroyed and having to fend off the three previously mentioned races, so that right there speaks for it self. All in all guardians CAN be terrifying powerful, and are definitely a force to be reckoned with. Now could they take on people with god-like abilities like Superman or the Hulk? No, they aren't that powerful. Pretty much only our guardian would stand a chance. But anybody a tier below them or without god-like abilities I think could be beaten by a guardian. Guardians could conceivably defeat people like Superman or the Hulk if there is enough of them, but that could be said for almost anybody. But like I said, this all really depends on the guardian.
We've killed gods, would be Kells, and those trying to attain godhood. Not just our guardian but others as well, some have seemingly went beyond the class like Felwinter( and any other legend mentioned ). We may not feel powerful because of the game, but we are very powerful story/lore wise.
-
zavala without light got over powered by a legionnaire so they aren't incredibly strong by them selves and unless they are a titan then I don't light will help
-
My votes on Achilles unless the guardians an ankle biter.
-
Guardians are basically great value brand Spartans until their super is charged which lasts less than a minute. I doubt any guardians would last very long against any other characters from other universes considering that if I'm not mistaken, sagira was damaged by a vex laser in the curse of osiris opening cutscene so I'd assume once you killed a guardian you just shoot his ghost afterwards. Guardians use mostly bullet based weapons except for omolon weapons and I doubt any of those could do much against a Warhammer 40k space marine or anything of that ilk.
-
MC could whoop any guardians ass
-
I think it varies on us as players to be very honest.
-
Not strong enough to talk...
-
Nerf Stong
-
Stronger than spartans but not stronger than space marines or a powerful human psyker.
-
my hunter is invincible
-
So strong in Destiny 2, that they crouch in the corner all the time.
-
Guardians are killed by conventional weapons. Ghosts, which revive guardians, can be shotgunned and destroyed.
-
Please note: all of the proceeding star wars is based on pre-Disney canon not post-Disney canon(this immediately invalidates any argument that this post may start which has a basis in post-Disney canon) (I hate having to add such things as that in the prior parinthetical buble) Give me a mandalorian with a past as a Jedi and sith with a full suit of beskargam (mandalorian iron for those not as steeped in the star wars universe as I) and the guardians, master chief, and captain America each would have one heck of a fight.

D1 guardians were way stronger. I played last night on d1 and it made me even more sad for the state of d2
