D2 weapon system and d2 in general is boring, just like the boring people that enjoy it. Millennials... and people that are bad.

  • Lmao people find anything to complain about millennials. You could’ve just said “D2 loadout is boring” and moved on but you had to bring them down with it

  • What I find funny is how so many older people fault Millennials, when in reality it's the older generation's fault for why millennials are the way they are. They're the ones who raised them.

  • I see more Gen X players than Millennials, mainly from the lack of an attention span that this generation has.

In my opinion there may be a reason they did so. By that I mean why should one player have a God roll Grasp of Malok or Eyesluna for example and their opponent/s not, even though both grinded for them an equal number of times? This is especially of concern in the Crucible where I've long stated everyone should be equal in that no one has a weapons/armor advantage over another. It's hardly a new concept, either in video games or reality. For example in the 90's, Quake 3 Arena was a very competitive tournament game before 'E-Sport' was even a term. In that game both players had identical weapons and armor. Therefore neither had an advantage over the other except individual skill level. And in reality sports are often the same way. In Boxing for instance glove weight is based on weight class. Both opponents can only use gloves having the same weight since heavier gloves would give one an advantage. Regulations such a that are commonplace in many real life sports. So in a sense what they did makes the game more accessible to everyone. Although granted, as far as I'm concerned, PvE should be an open activity where one can 'Run what they brung'. However, even then it could and likely would lead to the 'Must have X weapon with Y roll'. Instead of 'Must have X weapon'. A phenomenon that was a significant issue in D1. Hence, Bungie may have came to much the same conclusion with D2.

Indeed. And that is how it was in the competitive FPS games I played years ago in live tournaments for real money and prizes, not just a cool shader. Therefore, PvP in Destiny was/is a huge step backward in that regard. However, as I said, in D2 it appears as though they tried to alleviate some of it by doing away with random rolls for example. The only difference should be individual skill level. And not what weapons/gear one has. Again, for example, in Quake 3 everyone had the same set of identical weapons and armor. There was zero difference between players except their individual skill levels. And the same was true for team based game modes. That's typically how it is in reality so why should it be any different in a virtual reality? "Reality" being the key word since we, as human beings, live in reality, not a virtual reality. And it's not our virtual selves that experience the thrill of victory or the agony of defeat.

Ones generation really has nothing to do with it. Regulations regarding equipment, etc have been commonplace in sports for decades. In Boxing for example, glove weight is based on weight class. For instance if one is in the 165 lb weight class their gloves must weigh no more or less than 8 ounces. Any lighter or heavier could result in an advantage. Virtually every sport has equipment regulations for this reason, including video games used in tournament play. That is the reason I mentioned Quake 3 which was used in CPL/CAL tournaments. Anyone remember Quake Con, etc? Did anyone watch live streams of competitive matches over the Internet in the 90's which was cutting edge at that time since the Internet was still in its infancy? Virtually all of the troubles we talk about today, with or without regard to Destiny, were issues that had to be dealt with in the past as well. Nothing that is happening here is new in that sense. Different game, same problems. And it will likely happen again at some point tn the future with a new game.
