So, I got a copy of Battlefront II. I have a disc. Why would I not just be able to play the game when I pop the disc into the tray? What’s going on here?. Is this the standard now? Do you have to install a game even if you have a disc?
And for some context, The last time I bought a physical disc was for the Xbox 360. And the only games I have bought since then were the Destiny games and I got them both digitally.

Every game on modern consoles has to be installed to the hard drive to play. Also, more and more games, especially with 4K textures, are too big to fit on a single disc. Since the majority of people have internet access, it makes more sense to put what will for on the disc, then make you download the rest, rather than for the publishers to spend money to put the game across multiple discs.
