I heard this really often in the reddit forums of destiny but it doesn't make sence to me. Simply because we didn't died instantly while Ghaul took our light. SO I want to go more into this point.
I think we all can remember of the part where we met Tyra Karn on the farm, right? For D1 players it was a surprise that see didn't recognize us at first, because everyone who played Rise of Iron had very much Interaktion with her. The same counts for Lord Saladin, which didn't recognize us D1 Players too.
As people realized this I've seen much posts about that in this forums. And some Users and I offered the theory, that both of them were be affected by amnesia because of the lost of their light for some time. Both of them are really old guardians. Tyra is nearly 60-70 while Saladin is in an age of 48-55.
But back to the topic question: Are we really space Zombies?
I say no, because, if we look on the influences of the lost light on Saladin and Tyra, we can specifically say that we aren't zombies. Why? In fact that we aren't longer immune against aging and the effects of it, without our light, is it more true that we are immortal humans/exos/awoken with the light, and without it we are just normal human/exo/awoken beings.
If you still not understand my theory, I will give you a comparison: If you have seen the first marvel movie of Thor, you must have realized that Thor is really old (but still young) while he has the power of his hammer and the blessing of Asgard. Whilst the part of the movie he was banned from Asgard, he was just a normal (but still physical strong) human like we are.
So you see my point now? We aren't real zombies (because we aren't stupid undead things, crawling around) if we follow the theory from me. We are just normal life forms with some strange abilities from the transformer we call the traveller (and no, I don't mean autobots or something in that way. You have to see the traveller as a world transformer).
Edit: Also if we get named zombies or undead guardians: we could also be clones of our earlier being. Created from DNA pieces in our original bones
Thx for the Attention. ;)

2 RepliesLook up Destiny 1 Eyes Up Guardian. Our ghost literally says "You've been dead a really long time." We are reanimated corpses that are constantly being brought back

4 RepliesEdited by ImaDrizzit: 12/31/2017 2:27:36 PMIf we were animated corpses we would be undead. But we are not we were revived wich means to be brought back to life. So your right we are not space zombies.

7 RepliesYou're missing the part where we are dead before we are first brought back to life by the light.

1 ReplyIt came about because of things said in the lore. Pujari is told in the Black Garden dream the following
You are a dead thing made by a dead power in the shape of the dead. All you will ever do is kill. You do not belong here. This is a place of life
Rasputin says of Guardians
long dead, alive again, their bodies grafted to powers they and I do not understand
He also says
Now upon my return I see cults with rites of time. I see machines who worship in places outside the world. I see the dead alive and there is nothing more stubborn than a corpse.
What is also taken to be the Darkness says
Does it seem unfair? To be brought back into this, the end of days, the long dwindling exhalation of an ancient corpse? You were at peace. Now you are a dead husk charged with war. Do you remember anything of freedom?
More like revenants, which are sentient zombies.

2 RepliesZombies don't speak, neither do Guardians. Though the Guardians also don't go around snarling and hissing. But the real question is, How the hell do they see out those damned helmets???

Illuminati Don’t -blam!-ing move

1 ReplyWell we were dead and the ghost brought us back to life with light. The living dead. In space. Space zombie

Honestly, I think guardians are basically material images, controlled by the ghosts, controlled by you. They rematerialize or are made again through the ghost/you.

3 Replies<It's possible that reanimation was whole. We didn't die immediately because being resurrected literally meant all of your parts started to work again. We're still zombies, just not in the way you normally think.>

1 ReplyI’m fairly sure a zombie by definition is “the living dead” or something, and as it was in D1, we were dead before ghost resurrected us, so without the light resurrecting us, we would therefore, be dead, so we’re pretty much space zombies
