4 shots with the DMR to break all shields. Then you have a choice, (1 shot to the head or 3 shots to body) for the kill. If what people are saying is true, then the pistol is the exact same way.

It must be my Counterstrike upbringing. guess I'll stop sucking with the BR/DMR now[/quote] It will help you greatly. I took some time before I picked up on it in Halo CE. My friends and I all shot for the head at all times.

The BR is 12 bullet kills in Normal but like 10-11 in MLG it is always 4 shot it just seems more in normal because it is hard to hit all 12 bullets.

The damage to sheilds is the same anywhere on the body. once sheilds are down though, its like 3-4 to the body or 1 head. so 4 shots anywhere to take down sheilds, then 1 head. In H3, its 5 BR shots in all gametypes except MLG. For MLG, the settings were changed so that the BR does 10% more damage than usual, making it a 4 shot. Reach will be the same. 5 shots in all but MLG.

LOL OH MY NUNS, I always thought BR bursts to the head did more shield damage than to the chest. That would explain why I suck at BR dueling; I'm always landing incomplete bursts because I aim neck+up.

The pistol has long been stated to do the exact same damage as the DMR. They're both 5 headshot (four to the shields and one for the unshielded head) kills. For body shots, I think it's like 4 to take down shields, three-four to take down health (I'm basing this off of the fact that in the previous Halo games, you have less health than shields), so I'm guessing about 7-8 body shots.
